STEVE KIRK'S ROOFING

Had it not been for a hard working, dedicated crew my roof job would not have been finished. The boss, Steve Kirk, did nothing to smooth the way and encourage the crew - not even provide for material shortages (plywood and shingles)! His girl friend was his intermediary - she showed up promptly to ask for more money as the job progressed.

He seemed very knowledgeable at first, and suggested we replace the roof because it was old. We had hail damage over the 4th of July holiday, so we were really pressed to get the roof replaced to stop the leaking and the insurance adjuster couldn't come out in time. He made a reasonable offer and said he could meet our time frame, so we agreed. Guys came out and worked, but they weren't going at the pace he had stated. After they did the job, we had leaks and other problems with the work. He also had not installed a drip edge. He didn't show for many repair appointments and has not followed through. The city inspector checked the roof and found that everything was wrong with it. He was totally unprofessional all around and I'm going to have to pursue him legally. I also paid him money to redo the ridge vent and he never showed, he ran away with my money.

STEVE DID NOT FINISH THE JOB. IT TOOK FIVE WEEKS, 20 PLUS PHONE CALLS, AND HOLDING $2000 WORTH OF LEFT OVER ROOFING MATERIALS TO MAKE HIM COME BACK. ONCE FINISHED, WE NOTED THREE LEAKS FROM POOR INSTALLATION. STEVE WAS CALLED OUT TWICE TO FIX THE LEAKS. EACH TIME TOOK NUMEROUS CALLS, AND TWO PLUS MISSED APPOINTMENTS, DESPITE PROMISES HE WOULD BE THERE. EACH TIME HE FIXED ONE LEAK, BUT DID NOT INVESTIGATE TO FIND THE OTHER EXISTING LEAKS. THE LEAKS WERE CAUSED BY FAILURE TO INSTALL A DRIP EDGE (PER CONTRACT), AN OPEN HOLE INTO THE ATTIC SPACE WAS LEFT WHERE TWO ROOF LINES JOINED (POOR WORKMANSHIP), HE FAILED TO REPLACE FLASHING AROUND CHIMNEY TO ENSURE IT WAS WATER TIGHT (PER CONTRACT). WATER DAMAGE CAUSED EXTENSIVE CRACKING IN STUCCO, MOLD IN THE ATTIC AND TWO LIVING AREAS. AFTER HE ACKNOWLEDGED FAULT, STEVE FAILED TO COME BACK AND INSTALL DRIP EDGE OR SEAL CHIMNEY. STEVE NO LONGER RETURNS MY CALLS. STEVE CANNOT BE TRUSTED, VERY UNRESPONSIVE, POOR WORKMANSHIP. DO NOT HIRE!

I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM FOR SUNDAY AFTERNOON TO COME OUT AND TAKE A LOOK AT A ROOF LEAK. AN HOUR AFTER HIS ARRIVAL TIME, I CALLED. HE CALLED BACK, SAID HE'D BE HERE LATER IN THE DAY (5:30-6 P.M.), NEVER SHOWED UP AND NEVER CALLED BACK. INEXCUSABLE AND A WASTE OF A SUNDAY.

I WAS JUST THRILLED THAT THE LOWEST BID ENDED UP A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK WITH. REFERRED BY A FRIEND WHO HAD A ROOF DONE RECENTLY. I AM ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER.
