+ -1 moreHe was prompt coming to do the estimate. He was professional, and he gave us a new way of thinking about the layout of the project. Clearly he is quite knowledgeable, and shared some of that knowledge as he looked over the space we were planning to remodel by pointing out and describing things that needed to be done. The only reason we didn't go with him was the price on the estimate, which was more than we were looking to spend on the project. Now, in retrospect, his estimate was probably just a realistic assessment of what was required to do a good job.

+ -1 moreExcept for some inevitable small hiccups (bad parts, trying to get new drains to seal properly), everything went swimmingly. Bob is a champ: honest, patient, precise, level-headed, funny, and willing to listen. Try to find all of those qualities in a spouse, let alone a contractor. Fantastic guy with a competent team. I know they like to do bigger projects than my two small bathrooms. I'm very happy they took the time to work on my project.
Description of Work: Bob and his team installed two sinks (and sourced the sinks), a matching shower surround, all the related faucets, patched and prepped drywall, and installed baseboards.

One time the worker got sick the night before but didn't inform me he would not be in the next day. Otherwise, they were very helpful.

They had adhesive protective covering for the carpets in the basement that ruined the carpet and the deck took forever to complete. Never worked with Haag but always wanted money after jobs were completed. Didn't complete work in a timely fashion.

+ -1 moreWonderful service/help! I contacted Mr. Haag when I discovered a leak and the surrouning damage. Within hours, he came and quickly identified the source of the leak and provided me with a course of action to stop further damage and repair the damage that had already occurred. He arranged for a plumber to stop the leak, provided a recommendation for a water removal service, replaced damaged wall board, and had th new walls painted to look like nothing had happened.
Description of Work: Supervised repair of water leak damage, including identifying source of the leak, arranging for emergency repair, providing names of clean-up specialists, and repairing the replacement and painting of the damaged walls (two levels).

Description of Work: Lattice enclosure with gate under existing deck, adding posts as required and frame around lattice panels. 4x4 treated lumber and gravel on sloped soil area to control mud, erosion. Same company had previously installed French drain in this area as part of a larger project previously reported.

+ 3 moreFor no additional charge they re-grouted the foyer tile, plugged up a hole in our outside wall by our power box, and fixed the dryer exhaust pipe. Their price was about the same as the other bids. When it came to the workers, I was impressed with their punctuality. He subcontracted out some of the work and those workers were not as punctual but HPI didn't have control over their punctuality. I would certainly use them again!
Description of Work: They refinished the basement. They replaced carpeting in hallway with laminate floor. They drywalled the bedroom, took out sliding doors and put in recessed lighting. They tiled the front porch.

+ -1 moreThe contractor was very prompt in coming out to assess the job(s), and was reasonably prompt in submitting estimates. Ultimately, I broke the job into three parts; the first of which has been completed, as described. The other two were deferred until later for financial reasons. I thought the provider was innovative and flexible in his planning, and was very cooperative in conforming to my needs. His two assistants who performed most of the work were very competent and considerate. Two long trenches needed to be dug in my back yard to accommodate the drains. The worker who dug these, took the time to remove sections of sod, which he carefully replaced, saving me an additional expense. Within a few weeks, the grass had completely filled in, erasing all signs of the trench. I am very satisfied with the work, which was performed in a reasonable time span (only slightly longer than expected), and at a fair price.
Description of Work: I contacted the provider to seek a solution to a persistent water problem. The contractor added a downspout to better distribute water flow, which had been overwhelming existing system. The contractor also installed a French drainage system to handle water flow from downspouts and in front of the rear entry. The contractor replaced an existing slider with a custom sized French Door, to provide better access to rear lower level. The job also included construction of a shingled awning over new door, adding a tiled entry, and replacing an area of damaged carpet.

+ -1 moreBob Haag was very creative in his approach. One contractor had a limited solution. Another said to forget it. But with the damage expanding, we took Bob's advice. He and Jeff did excellent work on this and the siding repair. They were concerned about how the finished project would look. They did a nice job on the finish of the garage door edging and did a cold patch to match the black top on the outside. Jeff always kept us informed on what he was doing. Jeff cleaned up well, and every one was easy to work with on all aspects of the project. Very good experience.
Description of Work: Replaced some boards on the garage and the house. Repaired the foundation area of the garage where blocks had slipped from the foundation. Put in rods and new blocks and resurfaced the inside and outside of the corner in question. They realigned the garage door and put on a new exterior edging to the door.

+ -1 moreWork shows that they are craftsmen, especially when it comes to the carpentry, framing, painting and staining. Accommodated changes along the way. Both parties agreed on the changes and pricing for work not on the contract, ahead of time. The crew, 2 of which are Bob s sons, came on time each morning, and waited for us to get ready before coming into the house. We have a toddler who likes to take his time with breakfast and with getting dressed, so this courtesy was most appreciated. Easy and prompt communication by email or in person, no problem keeping informed about the progress of the project. Bob or the project manager assigned to us, his son Rob, was always reachable. Will definitely hire again. Not a down side, but know that your project is not the only project on-going. Bob and his crew, have concurrent projects, so expect delays sometimes. This is in fact a good sign -- that he is always busy, and in demand.
Description of Work: Finished 900 sq ft full basement, with full bath, backup sump pump, laundry area, litter area with vent to the outside, office and play room. Added 2 glass block windows for more light. Knocked down builder-installed 2 x 4s to increase space, was careful to get engineering analysis done to calculate number of microlam beams to put in place of the 2 x 4s. Replaced 1st and 2nd floor doors with 6 paneled doors. Stained these on site to match existing door frames' stain. Additional work unrelated to the basement and outside of contract - fixed our roof, a section of which got broken into by squirrels. Bid detail level was complete and sufficient. Did not low-ball price to get the project. The price was as agreed on the contract; added costs incurred because we added things along the way. Exact execution in what we had envisioned for the basement. Gave them a cad drawing at the onset. Finished project is very close to the drawing, down to the level of lighting placement.

+ -1 moreWe were very impressed with the professionalism and quality of work provided by Bob Haag and his team of friendly, responsible, dedicated workers. They completed the job in a timely manner, were very flexible about working around our schedule, were open to suggestions and changes, and were always willing to go a step further or provide an extra service. They always left our home as clean and orderly as the job at hand would allow. Bob Haag's motto seems to be "We can do anything!" and he lived up to it because whenever we had a need or desire but had no idea how it could be accomplished, he would come up with a doable, workable, cost effective plan to make our dreams a reality. I would highly recommend HPI and will definitely call on them for our future remodeling needs.
Description of Work: We finished our basement from scratch. This included digging out a large crawl space, adding a bathroom, a workroom, a large gathering room, media and entertainment areas, and a built in bar. We also completely repainted and recarpeted the upstairs of our home and added custom made, built in wood bookshelves and cabinets. In addition, we added a storage space over our garage, expanded our mud room and added a laundry area.

+ 3 moreThe workers and contractor was very pleasant and totally cleaned up after themselves each day, which made living through the improvements possible. I changed my mind on a couple of items and they were most agreeable to adjust accordingly. They repaired a dry wall leak in our garage which was not part of the deal, and they did not charge me and said it was because they did not finish the work on time. The charge was exactly what we had agreed on. They continued to ask if everything was okay and if we liked it or wanted anything changed. The kitchen is more functional, brighter, and updated now. Bob had good ideas about how to do it when we started. They painted and matched the existing colors exactly both indoors and outdoors. I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: They removed a half wall between our kitchen and family room, raised the dropped ceiling in the kitchen, and installed three windows over the kitchen cabinets.
