I found the severe corrosion on one isolated part of the frame.  From my internet research, I have come to find out that this is a relatively common problem with 4Runners of this era.  Rod is very knowedgable about metal working and car frames and has done a lot of classic car work.  As this was a safety concern, it gives me a lot of confidence that I went to an experienced craftsman.
