"We hired Karl to replace our aging front porch support columns and railings. As eloquently stated in a previous review, ‘from the start, Karl was responsive, communicative, courteous and professional. He is a conscientious, hardworking and creative young man. He provided us with a written quote and kept us informed throughout the project’. He persevered though some challenging hot weather conditions and completed our porch project within a few days. The quality and workmanship Karl put into our porch is top notch and we are extremely pleased with the results! We would certainly hire him again and will recommend him to others. Thanks, Karl!"

"Yury and crew have completed 3 major projects at our home, all done to perfection including complete upgrade and remodel of two separate large indoor spaces(absolutely beautiful) and an exterior repair requiring significant deconstruction with high quality permanent and waterproof refinish. I have never had such a professional and also personable individual do any project, home repair or remodel in 43 years of home ownership. Also to state, I am no novice in construction myself, and Yury is always willing to listen to my input or suggestions and experience, even though he is extremely high quality and experienced himself. I truly respect his heritage and how he treats his co-workers and teammates. LTB is currently doing a complete overhaul, repair and upgrade of a family memberâ  s A-Frame, also impeccable to date. He will be starting another project as well for my family soon. I would be hard pressed to recommend any one other than LTB for most projects. Enough said and good luck with your own."

"We had an a++ experience with this contractor. Extremely communicative and friendly. Everything was done within the timeframe and all of the work was expert level- literally no issues whatsoever! The drywall job was complicated because of deterioration of the framing-,everything was repaired properly, and the painting was truly perfection! Definitely recommend!"

"Brock did a great job and was very thorough. They put in a drywell for drainage to get water away from our building, and added a rock bed. They removed ground ivy and leveled everything. They also added a drain pipe to move water from the roof drains away from the building because the previous drain was obstructed by tree roots. They also repaired some erosion under the sidewalk that was created by the roof drains not draining properly. Everything was completed in a timely manner and communication was excellent. I would use Marshall Home Improvement for future projects for sure."

Customers say: True professional

"Highly recommend the team at Casita! We began consulting with them before we even bought our home. It was built in 1899 and we knew we needed reliable contractors if we had a hope of updating it. Casita helped with custom woodwork on the exterior and some of the design on the interior. What a transformation!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

No, beams are the primary load-bearers for flooring or roofing systems, and they distribute the weight of the structure to your foundational supports, while joists bear far less weight and distribute their loads to the beams. Beams are usually thicker and longer, and they have support posts or foundation walls beneath them for support.

Building involves setting foundation posts, framing with durable wood, adding roofing support, and protecting from elements with water-resistant finishes.

On average, the cost to hire a carpenter ranges from about $75 to $100 per hour, depending on the type of carpentry, location, size of the job, and skill level of the carpenter. Get quotes from at least three carpenters in your area to determine the best price for your specific project.

Professionals ensure safe, thorough repairs using quality materials, extending the life of your structure.

Homeowners insurance may cover damaged floor joists, depending on your policy. Insurance typically covers issues from storms, fires, or water damage from burst pipes. However, don't expect your insurance company to cover damage from wear and tear, poor maintenance, or termites.
