They cleaned up after themselves and did a great job.
I couldn't find a nail or shingle scrap on the ground when they finished. But, a couple months later, old nails started to fall out of the soffits. I climbed up on my ladder to collect them before they fell in my driveway and punctured a tire. I'm not even sure how the old nails got in there.
Another slight concern was that the pallet of shingles was delivered about a week before they installed it. I feared someone would steal my roof or it would kill my lawn while it sat there. Neither fear came true, perhaps I'm too paranoid.
I'd hire Mike's again.

UPDATE: We've had to have them come out three times since this review to finish fishing all the leaking downspouts. They put them in upside down the first time. They've been very responsive and professional about this, but I have lowered the grade as a result because this shouldn't have happened in the first place and has been a bit of a hassle.
On June 20, 2013 I asked for a estimate for a roof replacement based on a leak. Mike's estimator came out the next day while I was at work and measured and estimated the cost and then left me a written estimate in the door. I had 3 roofers look at the roof and they all said that it needed replaced, one even counted the number of bad shingles. The estimate included boiler place details for their standard job, as well as two options for the type of shingles. Their recommended shingle was highly rated by consumer reports for both durablity, especially to wind damage, and value. I called them about a week later, after I had gotten the other estimates and decided they were the best choice. They provided me with a sample board to pick the color. I also found a $250 coupon with them on Angie's List, which we applied to the job. I filled out the order slip with the samples and called them to pick them up and asked about the timing to get it done. They said 4-5 weeks, which was ok with me, because I was going to be gone at the end of june for vacation. At the end of July I called them up, because I hadn't heard from them and it appeared that they had completely forgotten to schedule me. They were able to get me in 2 weeks later and the shingles arrived on a Friday. The work started the next Thursday. I got a call the day before and they said they would be there around 7:10 the next morning. The first truck pulled up in front of my house at 7:09am (right on time!). They asked me some questions and got to work. The supervisor knocked on the door and asked me to speak with him, he said that when he measured the house the first time, he mis-measured and they didn't have enough shingles and the price was going to be $600 more. This was a big surprise to me, but even after the adjustment it was still $500 cheaper than the other bids and he did the sheathing replacement for free that was going to be extra anyway. I had to go to work and came back around 4pm and they were very close to finishing. I have a small house, but it was still impressive how fast they were able to do it. They removed all the shingles down to the bare sheathing and removed all the old attic vents and put in new flashing and mastic tape in the valleys, as well as new roofing paper. The shingles were all straight and even. It looks so much better with the new shingles! The foreman came by and asked to check a vent pipe for the water heater that had been disconnected and was pushed back down into the house to make contact with the heater. He checked it and it was connected. I didn't think much about it at the time.
They cleaned up the shingles, including blowing the loose stones from the shingles so that they wouldn't later plog the gutters (much appreciated). They did a good job of cleaning up the loose nails and shingle bits. The tarps that they used did mash down some of the plants around my foundation, but I don't think there was much way to avoid that. They also removed all the extra piping that had been taken out of the roof ( I had old, unused gas heater vent and furnace vents that they removed for me at no additional charge). At that point I felt very good about the job. The next morning, Friday, I was awakened at 5:30am by the smoke detector going off. It scared the carp out of me! I finally figured out that the water heater was causing the issue. When they had pushed the vent pipe back down, it had dropped lots of loose fill insulation down on top and into the vent portion of the water heater. The insulation was smoldering and causing fine smoke that set off the alarm. I was able to turn off the water heater, air out the house, and turn off the alarm. On closer inspection, the vent pipe was also bent at the connection to the water heater so that it wasn't venting properly. After getting it checked, I found out that it had never been installed to code in the first place, but had never caused an issue in 8 years of owning the house until the roofing was done. I had the whole venting replaced from the top of the water heater up through the roof, and its now no problem. Could have been a serious fire/carbon monoxide hazard though.
Pros: Prompt arrival, efficient quoting, shingles and supplies well rated and good warranty, actual application of shingles straight and high quality, overall price was very competitive, long history of business, clean up was better than expected. Workers were very polite and friendly, and worked efficiently. Ablity to finish in one day meant no big disruption for my household.
Cons: Schedulting was not very clear, quoted price was wrong based on mis-measure (but final price still competitive), vent pipe re-install caused minor fire hazard that had to be corrected seperately.
Bottom line: Would I use them again? Yes, but I would do a few things differently. 1) Make sure you clarify with them when the roofing will be started and if they will call with the final date or if the customer needs to call back to schedule at a certain time. 2) Ask them to put the number of squares on the quote in an email or over the phone. The foreman said that they didn't write it on the standard estimate form because competitors could check the estimates they left in the door and undercut them. But if they give the square number verbally it shouldn't be an issue. This way you can compare to the other bids and if the square amount is off, you can have them remeasure before starting the job. 3) I would get the venting checked closely at the end of the job to make sure its no issue.
