Be very careful with this painter. I trusted them because i got a referral from a contractor and a neighbor that I trust. They do good work, there was no problem there. The problem came with how they handled a dispute I had over pricing. Because I got them on a recommendation, I felt I could trust that they would give me a decent job at a decent price and I did not get any competitive bids. My mistake! They initially bid the job at $22,000 (for 10 rooms and 2 hallways -- 1750 square feet mind you). I was quite shocked by that price obviously. They convinced me that it was because the walls needed so much attention -- it is an old house and that was true. They said they would need to do extensive prep work. I was in no hurry to complete the job and gave them a month to complete the work. They said at the time they estimated it would take 3 people 21 days to complete the task. Anyway, we agreed on $19,000. I knew even then that that was a VERY high price but thought that a lot of that time would be eaten up in what they termed 'prep work. Suffice it to say that in the end the prep work turned out to be 3 small places where they needed to scrape and paint and an area around a door that they needed to caulk. When they finished in 2 weeks -- they added an extra worker -- I realized that I had basically been taken. They had basically just primed and painted the walls like any painter would do. I had just paid $10,000 more for so called 'expert' painters when any normal painter would have done the job. When I tried to set up meeting with Rob Hogle, the owner, to see if we could re-visit the price because they basically didn't need to do all the work they said they needed to, he didn't return my calls or emails. Finally, I got a curt email saying I was late in paying the final installment and that if I didn't pay in a week he would be calling an attorney. Basically, I ended up paying $2000 per room to get this old duplex painted because I didn't do my due diligence in getting competitive bids. I would not recommend this group.
