Dan’s Clock Repair

After calling Dan and asking about repairing our clock, I knew we had found the right person. We took the clock to him that same day. I realize specialty clock repair can create a backlog. We were willing to be patient, After all, the clock had not been ticking for the past 20 years, so why rush the repairman! Surprisingly, we got a call several weeks later, the clock was ready for pickup. This man is honest and reliable in the work he does. His evaluation of the problem with the clock and willing to put a good used part in it, saved us quite a bit of money (He was upfront with us about repairing the clock with a used part and explained why he chose to do that.) It has been several months, and the clock works great. It keeps excellent time, not gaining or losing minutes. We would highly recommend Dan’s clock repair. We found him online and his reviews were excellent. That’s what convinced us to give him a call. Our experience with Mr Grumbling was highly satisfactory.

Dan was great! I called a day head & set up a general time to bring my clock in. Next day, walked in with my clock, & Dan started his diagnosis right away. He made the repair, which entailed cleaning and repair of a gear that had come off it's spindle. He used one of his lathes & silver solder to make the repair. He also added a dust cover for the mechanism. I said, "I didn't expect same day service." He laughed & said, "You shouldn't. This is unusual." Never the less, I walked out less than an hour latter with my Depression era clock that runs like a champ. Very happy. 5 STAR service from a very nice guy.

Repaired clock has been running fine. Turn around to get the clock back was a few weeks, but the shop seemed fairly busy with other repairs. Dan demonstrated that the work done by the previous clock repair service had not been performed properly. Parts that the previous clock repair shop had claimed to have replaced were worn and obviously still original. The earlier attempted repair had damaged some parts of the mechanism because they had not known how to disassemble certain parts of the mechanism and so had used inappropriate and damaging workarounds. My clock was repaired and returned for less than the estimated cost. (The original estimated price from The Olde Clock Repair was very close to another estimate received elsewhere.) The Olde Clock Repair provides honest, reliable repairs, at a fair price.

Dan did a great job. I am very happy with his expertise and knowledge about clocks. The clocks are working great, and it is so nice to hear the chimes again. He was fast, efficient and is very reasonable in price. I was so pleased with him, I gave him two mantel clocks to work on. Thank you, Dan!

Dan took the time to disassemble the clock mwchanism, examine the parts, oiled and adjusted the mechanism, then reassembled and installed it in the clock. This was the most thorough tune-up we've ever had performed on our clock, and we were very pleased with the results!

He was able to repair our clock on the spot. He found that it needed to be oiled and he quickly took it apart and did that. He also explained that we need to have this done about every five years. We had previously had this clock repaired by another area clock repairman and he never mentioned this and apparently did not do this, because the clock only worked for a few months after that costly repair. After the most recent repair, our clock has been working great for months. We plan to take two other clocks to him for repair.

He performed a thorough cleaning and the clock is running like new. Excellent service!

Our Grandfather Clock had not had a tune-up for many years and had started to lose time. Dan determined that there was a lot of wear on the mechanisms and it would either need to be rebuilt or replaced. We decided on a replacement since it was about 40 years old and the cost was about the same. He also found a nicer looking moon dial when I mentioned that I never liked the one we had. The chimes and everything is as good as new now. He was very punctual and professional. He knows a lot about clocks and I would highly recommend him.

This is the second time we've used Dan, and as always, the service and repairs were quick and outstanding. Just picked up the clock and it's running like new and keeping perfect time. We were on a bit of time crunch to get it hung back up before our holiday party and Dan was very responsive and helpful. Wouldn't take our clocks anywhere else and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Really a great experience. I have a beautiful large wall clock that was built with a cheap motor. While I waited Dan replaced the motor with one of much better quality and then balanced one of the clock hands. It runs great now. I would recommend him to anyone.

I was apprehensive to leave my clock with a new repair company since this was my grandparents clock from 1917. A few weeks ago a spring gave out and the clock stopped. I took it to The Olde Clock Shop and Dan saw the problem, removed the clock mechanism and pointed out two additional small details which had been done incorrectly by a man in Columbus over 10 years ago. Dan taught me about how to move the clock without damage and actually had the work completed before the estimated date. It is obvious he enjoys his work and I would not hesitate to return for additional work, if needed. This is funny. I found a repair tag for $2.50 inside the back of the clock from 1927 for repairing the bezel and cleaning. Guess prices have increased a tad. Overall a very good experience.

He did a nice job. It is working just fine. He fixed it right. He was prompt and very good. They came to my home to fix the grandfather clock. The price was good.

Dan was great to work with. I had no problems scheduling a time to drop off or pick up the clock. Although the clock is not an expensive one, it has been in my family for many years so it means a great deal to me. Dan explained the work that needed to be done and the cost. He was professional and did excellent work. Plus, he has a lot of interesting things in his shop!! I recommend Dan highly.

Great! Dan got the clock running again and also let us know that replacement parts are no longer available. It was a very pleasant enjoyable experience.

Gave me a 2 hour window (11-1) on workday to be at my home. Did not show up within the 2 hour window (I tried to call the only # I had and left a message). I received a call around 1:48 (50 minutes after the 2 hour window) stating that he had got held up at last job. I stated that I may just go with someone else as I would have appreciated a courtesy call that he was going to be late since it was a workday and I made arrangements to be available. He told me to go ahead and find someone else and abruptly hung up. It is unfortunate as I have used him before and would have given an A review if I was part of Angie List at the time but was very disappointed in how this went down. I understand in this type of service business things like this happen but I would have just appreciated a courtesy call to let me know what the situation was and that he was going to be late or even to reschedule so I could have changed my plans.

Dan is able to get the clock working again. He had to replace some part the other person had damage.

Dan worked with my schedule to find a time that worked and he showed up right on time. He was here about an hour and took the clock apart, serviced it, and got it all back together. He clearly knew what he was doing and everything went great!
