3 years later the system stopped working.  We found out that they went out of business about a month after installing our system.  We had Gilbert HVAC come out and they diagnosed a faulty part under warranty.  However, the system was not correctly installed so Gilbert made all the necessary adjustments.  Works better than new now.
AGAIN - FIRELANDS IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

The work was preformed professionally, one time and cost effective.  They have done 5 jobs for me. All were good experiences

This was the second time this company had serviced my A/C unit. They had also done the same service a year before when the a/c unit was not blowing cold.
The first visit, 2009,  the service person could not find the source of any leaks but replaced freon and the a/c unit was fine for the remainder of the season. He recommended that I consider replacing the unit with a heat pump. I did get an estimate but decided not to go that route at this time. Cost was aprox. $175.00 for this call.

A year later, 2010, the same problem on first startup of the season. They sent two servicemen who easily found the source of the leak which they showed me. A bolt had worked loose and now was discolored indicating a leak. He tightened the bolt and he needed to add less then 2#'s of freon. They problem was fixed and I did not have the problem again in  2011.
However the bill for the second job was over $400.00. I was quite shocked by the price difference from one year to the next. The price of freon had jumped (which the owner had warned me was going to happen) and the bill indicated I had needed 5#'s of freon, not less then 2 which the service person had indicated at the time of the job.  When I called to question this, the man who answered,(the service coordinator not the owner) was quite rude and I got the impression that he did not appreciate a woman questioning the bill. He even at one point in the conversation asked to speak to my husband as if to indicate I didn't know what I was talking about. I found this very offensive.

In all fairness, later I did speak with the owner and his wife (who does the billing) and the bill was adjusted to correct the freon difference. They apologized for the other man's rude behavior and were willing to make things right. Any and all contact with the owners has been great. They seem like genuinely nice people.

In the year between the 2 service calls I had received a letter from the company and they were selling service contracts. The contract as I read it would cost aprox. $150.00/year and in return you would get faster service and a set hourly service fee. I did not see the value in this for myself so I did not purchase.

In conclusion I will say that the company does good work. The servicemen (with exception of the service coordinator)are polite, kept the job site clean and appeared knowledgeable. However I would recommend getting a firm estimate BEFORE the job is done. I'm not a fan of the 'service contract' gamble. Doing good work at a fair price without trying to sell me 'insurance', goes much further with me.
I wont use their service again as long as they employ that service coordinator. He was rude and condescending and that is no way to treat a customer.

Steve did a complete inspection of my Air Conditioning.  Changed the filter and cleaned the outside unit as well.  He made sure the electrical in both units were functioning in an efficient manner.  I was surprised he stayed so long-making sure everything was operating  at peak performance.
