My 1903 built Clintonville home has a detached garage, which was in very sad shape when I bought the house (broken windows, "ventilated" siding, and sketchy roof). The garage was restored with new cement floor poured over the existing poor quality floor, framing supported, new siding added, and roof removed and replaced. Plywood added over the rafters for additional storage. A doorway was added for access to the yard (previously the garage door was the only access point). A new electrical service panel was added to the garage (no existing outlet) to meet the updated needs in the garage and the studio.
A studio was added to the back of the garage. This was new construction, from a new foundation on up. Space is insulated, with a cathedral ceiling and finished with dry wall. Lots of windows for lots of natural light. Siding same as garage. The finished product looks like it was always there and part of the structure. Care was taken with the placement of everything inside (power outlets, lights, etc.) to make sure I was happy with the layout.
The quality of the finished product is just great. Most importantly, the job was finished in 6.5 weeks - with a 6 week estimate prior to starting. Given the wet summer and some unexpected time off due to weather, I was impressed with how close it finished to on time.
Communication with Pete Beachy was outstanding, and he always kept me in the loop when there were questions or delays, and kept me up to date with what was ongoing and planned for each week. Very responsive to any questions or concerns from my end. He was easy to work with and patient with all my questions - this was my first experience with new construction and not as stressful as I thought it might be at the outset.
Square. Peter picked up new door, cut it to fit the opening and installed the new door. Everything left neat and clean afterwards.
