They did an excellent job. The work was done a few years ago and the floors still look beautiful. Very satisfied with the outcome and the people who did the work.

They did an amazing job

It was fantastic. Virtually no mess. They removed layers of polyurethane coating which made the floors look homogeneously yellow before, and put on a light thin protective coat which lets the natural colors shine through. (That's what we wanted; they would have stained the floors if we'd asked.) Beautiful.

He was fabulous. He was just dynamite. With the kitchen floor, and this is what made him so fabulous, that had had to get the same polyurethane coats that the rest of the floors did. I looked in my window and I noticed after the polyurethane had been put down the stain that they simply did not match at all. Because red oak that is 60 years old is not the same as brand new red oak. So I called him and he came out. Immediately, that day or the next day, got on it. First of all he tried to add a stain to some polyurethane and he said that didn't work. So what he did was he personally sanded off the polyurethane on the new hardwood and stained it, and then polyurethaned it. It matches perfectly the 60 year old red oak hardwood floor. People cannot tell the difference between the brand new hardwood floor and old hardwood floor. I give him A+ for professionalism, promptness of service, and knowledge of what he was doing. I cannot speak highly enough of him. I don't remember what it cost, but it was in the middle of the quotes I got. I got several quotes. He was the best contractor I had to deal with during my entire renovation. My house was built in 1940 which is 57 years old. And he got the brand new red oak to match it perfectly. That's a guy who knows what he is doing. He was just absolutely excellent.

Beautiful and thorough work - quite impressed by the end product. Was also impressed by honesty. We thought we needed more done and he talked us out of it.

I would give them a A+ all the way around. They were VERY clean, and the price was reasonable. They have quality machines that helped to suck up any saw dust that may been have lingering around. They were efficient and did a beautiful job. I highly recommend them.

Mr Hough told us exactly what to expect of the entire process.  He advised us how to keep the fumes from permeating the entire house,  he told us how many days it would take,  he was punctual ,  and  rehung closet and bed room door.   Oh, yes, and the resulting floor is beautiful !

Jeff provided the estimate and Bob did the work. Both were a pleasure to work with and we are thrilled with how it looks. This is the third house we've purchased and had someone come in to refinish wood floors and third company we've used; Bob did an amazing job and also left the house almost completely dust free.

Our floors look great - the pictures don't quite do them justice, they look even better in person. The first rooms that people will see when they come into our house are really beautiful now. Jeff was very professional and clear about what he would need to do the floor and how long it would take. His estimate was also on target, he did not go over the estimated cost.
He can be a little hard to get a hold of via email - calling is your best bet.

I wanted my hardwood oak floors refinished at my house and called several vendors on Angie's List to get a quote.  Jeff called back the same day and came out later that afternoon to write up a quote.  Other vendors did not call until several days later.
Jeff made quick work and was very professional throughout the process.  The floor looks great and did not cost as much as other reviews I have read on other vendors' pages.  I would highly recommend Jeff and will be calling back in the future if I decide to have more work done.

Wow, what can I say about these guys... absolutely amazing work.   Jeff came out and did the estimate earlier this Summer.   Bob (Jeff's partner) did the work. 
We did the upstairs months ago, then the main level was finished yesterday.  The upstairs bedrooms were straightforward sand and 3 coats of finish.  The main level required fingering in of some new planks to match the existing 50-year-old floors, followed by sanding and 3 coats.  Nobody would ever recognize the mix of old and new. 
We did a whole house remodel over the last 6 months, and have had so many trades in and out.  By far, Bob was the most meticulous of all.  He is passionate about his work and it shows.

Jeff and his partner did a great job.  The floors in this 100+ year old house were in poor shape.  Jeff was very honest about what could and could not be done with these floors and the potential risks in refinishing rather than replacing the floors.  Ultimately, we elected to refinish the floors and they did a beautiful job. 
The floors were beautifully sanded and refinished with 3 coats of oil based polyurethane.  Additionally, there was very minimal dust throughout the house.  It was easy and they were very sensitive and flexible with my timing demands.
I'd highly recommend Hardwood Elegance.  It's clear they take pride in their work.

Mr. Hough helped us restore our home following water damage and he completed our job exactly the way he told us he would. Our floors were sanded and varnished beautifully. We are truly satisfied with the results. If you ever have the privilege of working with him you will see why I nicknamed him "Mr. Elegant"

I didn't know much about wood floors but we wanted to try and save the wood floors on a house we purchased. Sorted angie's list by maximum reviews and came across Hardwood Elegance. We are really impressed with them, think they did a fantastic job, will definitely use them again on another property and if you are reading this should give them STRONG consideration! Refinished hardwood floors in family room, hallway and three bedrooms. Jeff and his guys are great all around...showed up on time for estimate, honesty with what can and can't be done to the floors, floors look great, finished when they said they were and were reasonbally priced! Most of us consumers hope for the "oh it will only need resurfaced or some poly" but Jeff shot us straight to also prevent future problems...for example informed us of some past insect issues that required a few boards replaced, a pet stain that would not come all the way out and the top coat was varnish not poly so it needed sanded down.

They did a craftsmanship job. They were pleasant to be around while they completed their work.

I had one estimate from another top Angie's List provider who I think would also have done a good job, but Hardwood Elegance came in significantly lower on price. I had a family emergency crop up which made it important to get the work done and get into the house quickly, and they were able to get me on the schedule almost immediately and co-exist with another contractor doing foundation repair at the same time. The results speak for themselves...check out the pictures!

Wow!  It's absolutely unbelievable how different our floors look after Jeff worked his magic!  We recently purchased the house and we could tell the original hardwood floors had been neglected for a long time.  Jeff restored them to their natural beauty and they look fantastic!  He texted us pictures of his progress from day to day which was great because we could see what a difference each step made.  He has special equipment that a lot of other floor people don't have which prevented a lot of dust from going everywhere (we've heard horror stories about the dust that gets everywhere while floors are being sanded).  He walked us through the process and also told us the best way to care for them.
We got 2 other estimates besides Jeff; his price was in the middle.  After talking with him we could tell her truly cared about restoring the floors to their natural beauty and made recommendations based on that.  We had another area we were interested in having sanded and sealed and he was very honest and told us that they didn't need it yet.
We are so happy with our experience and we would recommend Jeff to everyone!

Outstanding job!

The work is absolutely fantastic. We only wish we had Jeff do our entire house (That will come). He was prompt, courteous, worked well with the folks doing work in the house and was honest. Additionally, he came in under his original estimate.
