Bob and the Capitol team do superb work. The quality of the work is top-notch and their customer-centered approach is always evident. When our neighbors saw our fencing they too pursued Capitol. I strongly recommend this company. You may find less expensive options, but I doubt that you will find higher quality work.

Workers were unprofessional and left trash in yard. Company did not make first scheduled appointment and did not return phone calls until several business days later. Materials were not disposed of properly.
Response from Capitol Fence Inc
"No trash was left in yard by the installers they did not even have a lunch that day, The tear out of the old fence sections was too much to haul away in one load everything was gone after the second trip. The entire fence should be torn down as it is a well beyond it usefulness the back rails are rotted and unable to support the boards. With what we had to work with it and the extra life that was given to the fence because of the hard work of the team is amazing the way it turned out. Extra sections and work done then contract stated but the home owner was never charged for this additional material and labor an additional cost of 490.00."

The job was a complete disappointment. The fence supports and gates were all crooked. Trim was used to cover the gaps in the gate slats but the trim was not cut straight at the joints and looked like it was chewed off and did not even cover the entire gap. The other gaps between the new fencing and the house allowed our dogs to escape easily after Mr. Hulvey had assured me that the dogs would be contained. The fence gate on the west side of the house was unable to be opened more than a few feet because it was set too low initially but that was corrected. The workers placed 2 steel pipes (one was rusted and crooked and both were without end caps) in the spaces to prevent the dogs from escaping. My husband had to attach wood boards to the pipes and paint the steel pipes and the boards white to make them blend in with the other vinyl fencing. The fencing on the east side of the house is not parallel with the house and is obviously crooked. A month after the installation we noticed while standing in the neighbor's yard a 2 inch by 6 inch milled hole in the outer side of the fence post that could only be seen from the neighbors' yard-- something that was deliberately drilled into the post. We called Mr. Hulvey on 4/29/2017 to report this and he said he would have to order a new post and it would take 2 weeks. After a wait we called back at the end of May and left a message on Mr. Hulvey's voice mail asking about the progress. Then after hearing nothing, we called back at the end of October and left a message with no return call from Mr. Hulvey. Then the first part of November the lock fell off the gate. We have given up calling. It is heartbreaking to see how a service provider could care so little, provide substandard craftmanship and take advantage of consumers like ourselves.

Communication wasn't the best. I happened to be home when the folks came to mark utilities. Our gate was locked, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten in because I wasn't notified of their visit. The fence looks good. The posts weren't cut and leveled at the top, there were quite a few missed nails that didn't enter the support structure. We will take care of these issues ourselves. Clean up did not exist. The site manager was sleeping out front in the truck the whole time, and the owner came, got the check and left. No hand shake, thank you for the business, are you pleased...none of that. The installers were polite and hard workers, but left without any clean up...we picked up the cigarette butts and many of the temporary nails from the stringing and leveling process. (mostly in our neighbors yard) Landscaping was damaged during the building process. The fence is sturdy and looks fine, but we're disappointed with the detailing we'll go back and fix.

Awful, just awful!!! Do NOT use this company!! I have put up two fences, however, with my work schedule my wife and I decided it would be best to just contract out the work. I had three quotes and Capitol came in as the middle priced quote. Unfortunately, in doing my research I failed to realize that Angie's List only showed the good reviews before I became a member to write this review. Now, I can see all the bad reviews that sound just like my story. So here's how this fence installation went down. First, Bob (owner) told me I would need to mark all the lines. I asked him if he was going to get a permit and he acted shocked. His company is based out of my city so I thought that was odd. My lot is on a corner so there was some confusion on how far I could come out towards the side street. He came to me with the signed certificate from the city which clearly stated 15 ft. I told him that I had ran the string shorter than that because I didn't think I could come out that far. He said don't worry my guys are going to run their own lines when they get here. At the same time I told him I'm not a surveyor and I did the best that I could. So as you might imagine, they didn't do that and proceeded to put all the posts in at the nine foot line. One of the posts is in my flower bed! So I call him and said "this wasn't the plan" to which he replied something like "oh I thought you knew it was up to fifteen feet but didn't want to come out that far." Total BS!! So the drama continues when I said, your guys better have ran their own lines because my lines were on the property line and if they put the posts there that would put the fence over the property line. Of course, he said they did. So when I got home to see the chaos I noticed that they lines weren't touching all of the posts and in the morning I found the other side was completely crooked. I told the installer that and he said no all the poles are straight. You can clearly see the 2x4s bending backwards and the fence is out of line. I mean at this point I'm beside myself!!!! I told Bob he needed to get out to see what's going on and he waived the fee for the additional length of 9ft section. The gates look absolutely terrible. They didn't even put the cross 2x4 completely across. Instead of spacing the pickets evenly on the front section, you know, the one that faces the street, they left a 6 inch gap with a crooked board. A gap large enough for my dog to get out of. Folks, it's so bad they even used a chainsaw to cut everything with, a freaking chainsaw!!! Like they went around and cut the 4x4 posts off at different levels. They cut the bottom of the gate pickets with a chainsaw. I mean it looks like someone chewed the wood off!!!! I'm so embarrassed. It took bob 3.5 hours to come out to see me when I was complaining, but 5 mins to come out to get his final check. I honestly wish I would have seen these reviews before I hired this terrible company. They have listed on their quote paperwork Grade A Angiest List. Well I call BS. Please, whatever you do, don't use this company.

I spoke to Bob on Monday to arrange for an estimate and to schedule. He had the estimate prepared and contract ready on Tuesday. The materials were delivered on Wednesday. The fence was installed over two days, on Thursday and Friday, during heavy rains/thunderstorms. The fence looks beautiful - exactly what I wanted. I never expected it to be done so quickly, especially considering the weather. I would recommend Bob and his crew to anyone looking for fencing.

Bob and his crew were wonderful to work with. Bob responded very quickly with an estimate and suggestions on types of fencing, The old fence was already down in places and was quite overgrown, I did not have any gates. I was very happy with the price and was surprised when I left for work in the morning and old fence was gone and new fence in and complete by time I returned home from work. The crew hauled everything away and I love my new fence.

Well. They post extensions and the fixed strong wire screen up another three feet. Fence now 8 ft high. There was one misaligned slat they immediately came back and corrected.

Within 1-2 months both gates had issues with hardware not working, one gate was sagging and pieces of wood were falling off or apart. After just nine months one whole section of fencing fell over entirely because it was rebuilt on a rotted fence post. I called the owner and asked that someone come back out to attend to all the issues we were having. He refused to take responsibility for the rotted post and claimed there's no way he could have foreseen that happening and claimed that I agreed to have the fence rebuilt on the existing post (which was at his recommendation). He became belligerent and angry with me on the phone (e.g. "What am I - speaking Spanish?!"). It was by far one of the most rude and disrespectful encounters I have ever had with another business.
Response from Capitol Fence Inc
"The post in question was a 6x6 post and when the gate is was solid now 9 months the post gives out for 9 months it was fine. The fence on both sides of the gate was over 20 years old. If the post wasn't stable and sound it wouldn't have been used. Due to the age of the fence and the shape it was in it would have to be all replaced. Home owner wanted just the gate and not the extra expense of all new fence. I told her we have a 2 year warranty on workmanship and we would come out and reinstall and if needed repaired so it works properly at no charge. She refused to accept that and wanted an old post replaced as well at no charge. I don't have X-eray vision or a crystal ball to look at to see if a post is going to fail or not. On second area the homeowners had a new garage built when I came and gave them the estimate to close off the area with fence and a gate the fence and gate were over dirt when we went to install it they had poured concrete and had it formed so it was pitched so rain would run away from garage. They didn't want the concrete broken so I could set a post in solid, I gave them the option of having it core drilled and that was unacceptable so the only option left was using 4x4 boots lag bolted in. I told her I wasn't comfortable with that but she said do it. Now 9 months later she has a problem once again I explained the 2 year warranty on workmanship and we would reinstall the gate and adjust the post and fence and gate. All she keep saying was you don't stand behind your work, you should have know the post was bad. Over and over and over and over she keep yelling that at me and I keep telling her over and over and over we will take care of the work we installed but she went right back saying you don't stand by your work I am going to ruin you by telling my friends the BBB, Angie's List and any one that would listen because we don't stand behind our work. Since I told her over 30 times we would take care of the work we did I asked her if I was speaking in Spanish. Then she wanted all her money back. I asked do you want us to repair the gates she said no and hung up"

It worked out okay. I was happy with them. They did a good job. The price was right and they were efficient. The gate was not exactly the right size. I don't know if they ordered it wrong or it came in wrong. I mean it works and it's fine, it's just not perfect.

We just recently moved into our house and the neighbors on each side had fences, and so we needed to fill in our fencing and tie it to our house. After an extensive process and gathering quotes from several companies, we chose Capitol Fence to perform our fence. Bob worked closely with us and came out promptly for our quote. The quote wasn't the lowest we received, but it wasn't the highest and Bob's professionalism sold us. He gave us several styles of fencing to choose from and quotes for each. After we decided, we signed the contract with him and about 8 days later, he let us know the fence would be started the next day. The work took only two work days and looks AMAZING in our backyard. Can't thank Capitol Fence enough for their promptness and professionalism and again, the fence looks awesome. Will gladly choose Capitol Fence for any future fencing needs.

Bob takes and return all calls himself and it took 1-2 days for  him to call me to schedule the quote appointment and then to schedule the work but he does return calls. Be sure to call him from the phone you want him to call you back on as he didn't seem to listen to the phone number I left in the voice mail.

He calls on installation day to let you know they are leaving the warehouse. They complete the work in the 2 days he had promised.

I had wanted to pay the balance with a check but he used my charge card that he had kept written down from the day I put down the deposit.. That is the only thing I didn't like for either of the jobs he did for me. My charge card number was kept around for several weeks in writing. with my expiration date and signature.I don't feel that is a very secure process these days.

The estimate was timely. The price was a little cheaper than the other offers that we received.
I would have liked a little more communication, with the times, but everything was done within the promised time frame.
The workers were professional, and did a very nice job.
PS My dog has not gotten out of the backyard since Capital Fence put in the new fence, so I am very happy.

Bob, the owner, showed for the first appointment on time and had already stopped by the house to inspect the old fence. He estimated it would be 2 weeks before they could get out to install the fence. I called him on Friday morning and then heard from him on Monday  morning that it would be another week. He called OUPS although I thought I was supposed to do it. By the next Friday and hadn't heard from him so I left a message. I called again on Monday and found out he was at the house and was ready to start. They removed the old fence and installed the new fence within 2 days due to rain on the first day. The only problem  was the slight lack of communication. He didn't let me know that they were delayed beyond his original expectation and he didn't let me know that they were ready to start.

Very good communication from Bob , the owner. Free estimate was completed very quickly. I had agreed to have the job done ( replacing 2 sections of chain link fence ) by Capitol but was waiting on a call back regarding when it could be done. I was pleasantly surprised to come home one day and have a group of 3 men (Who I believe worked for another fencing company but who Capitol contracted with) finishing up my chain link fence.

He set up appointment for estimate and showed up.  Told us how the fence would be constructed and showed us a picture of the finished product.  The fence was constructed the next day to our satisfaction.  Everything went according to plans.
