My hot water heater died one Saturday morning. No one in the house could take a warm shower. So I called a service company who came out and charged me to analyze the problem. They wanted to replace the entire hot water heater for over $800. I paid the service charge and decided that the problem was the power vent on top of the unit. I called Maumee Plumbing & Heating Supply and explained what happened. They looked up the part number and told me they had one in stock. I took the old power vent/motor with me to make sure they had the right one. When I was paying for the new power vent/motor, the gentleman behind the counter asked me how old the unit was. I told him less than 10 years old. He said it might be covered under warranty. He took my information and told me he would try to get it paid for through warranty. About 6 weeks later I received a credit for the entire amount as the unit was still under warranty. I don't know how many supply houses would have done this for a non-contractor customer. I will always shop at Maumee Plumbing & Heating Supply from now on.
