Another provider had done landscaping work at this address under an agreement with a different family member. That provider had laid down a very thick layer of hardwood mulch that extended partially up the basement windows and siding of the house. It was hardwood mulch. Due to a past history of insect penetration into the house, the exterminator had told us to only use cypress mulch and to never let it get close to the siding as that was a direct pathway into the house.
I contacted Greenlawn as my husband and in-laws had used them in the past for landscaping and were pleased with the work. It took a few weeks to get them to come out to look at the job and to give me an estimate. Because I live out of the area, they voluntarily provided me with photos of the site before, during, and after the work was completed to document the extent of the work they did. They removed all of the old mulch and disposed of it, took measures to keep the new mulch off of the inappropriate areas of the house, and laid down new cypress mulch as I requested. They did a great job and I would use them again, but would prefer they be a little more responsive when coming out to give an estimate.
