Auto Towing Service, Auto Service
My car broke down early Friday morning on September 6... Around 1:30 AM. I had to leave my car at my workplace, where it broke down, and managed to find a way home... A girl that I work with, let me use her truck to drive home and agreed to let my fiance drive it back to work (we work at the same place, different hours). He would be coming to work shortly before she got off. She then agreed to bring him home when he got off and bring me back to work later that night. Well, while my fiance was on his break, he called Larry McFarland and asked if he could work on my car (he had looked and called different places from the phonebook). Larry McFarland said he could tow my car to his shop, look at it, and possibly have it done that day. So since the place that we normally take our vehicles to for repairs said that they wouldn't be able to get my car in until the Tuesday after Labor day, he agreed to have McFarland take it... Especially since he said he might be able to get it done the same day. He had said that it sounded like it was the fuel pump, from what we told him it was doing/not doing... That it would only take a couple hours to fix, he would see if it was the fuel pump and let us know. And if it was the fuel pump, that it would cost $350 (that is with my fiance rounding up) for parts and labor included. Well, Friday evening came and went. We heard nothing. Monday was labor day, and they were closed, so obviously we heard nothing. Tuesday, my fiance calls and they say there is two cars ahead of mine (keep in mind they had said they could possibly get mine done Friday), but it was the fuel pump and that it wouldn't be done til Wednesday or Thursday. Thursday he calls again and they say that they had to order the part. Then Friday comes and again, we hear nothing. Monday, my fiance calls again. Then McFarland says that he had asked my fiance to pick up the fuel pump from the store and bring it to him!! Well my fiance called back and talked to a different guy and he said that the parts place would deliver it. I asked him if they were going to charge us for the delivery, and he said "No, they deliver for free. So I said, "Fine". I, myself, have never heard of them asking you to pick up the part yourself and bring it to them... I mean, not everyone has two vehicles, or a way to run around picking up parts for them to fix your vehicle. Especially when most parts places will deliver to them. Well, Tuesday comes and goes and obviously, we hear nothing... By this point I am completely irate. Finally on Wednesday either McFarlands called my fiance or he called them (I'm not sure which)... Anyways, I get a text from my fiance that instead of it being the estimated $350, McFarlands told him it was going to be $539.40!!! Forget irate, now I'm ready to knock this guys teeth down his throat. Why the price jump? When we went to pick it up, I asked McFarland why it costed so much more. And he says "Because I had to pick up the part myself"!!! Turns out, he took it upon himself to put a one year warranty on the Fuel Pump. So instead of it being around $350, I had to shell out another $190 because he put a warranty on it when we never asked him to. I will never again take anything to this place. The services performed on my car were fine... It runs now, and that's all I wanted... As cheaply as possible... Not for some moron to cost me an extra $200 basically. However, they weren't professional at all. I mean, if he had asked us to pick up the part... I think we would remember something like that... And if we knew it was going to cost another $190, I think that's the way we would have went with the ordeal. But we didn't know that we were expected to pick up the part and deliver it to them. And again, if he had wanted us to pick it up and bring it there... Wouldn't it be a good idea, after a day or two of having someone's car, to be calling them and asking "Hey, where is that part I asked you to pick up?" Just saying... Totally fed up with the whole mess, glad it's over, and regret going to them in the first place... Next time, I will take my car to the shop I usually send it to. At least when they say they will have it done a certain day, they do. And if they don't, they tell you why... Not make up lies. And they don't ask me to deliver parts to them. A huge inconvenience to me when I am without a vehicle... Never again, never again.
