We had called Sunburst Pools to schedule an appointment for 09/15 to have or hot tub filled. The person that answered was helpful and polite. Unfortunately we had a unforeseen circumstances arise on Monday and called to cancel the Tuesday 9:30 a.m. call and reschedule for Thursday 09/17 at the same time 9:30a.m. The man that answered the phone was very nice and appreciative of us giving as much notice a possible, then Thursday the day of the appointment came my wife left to take our children to school and I waited for the appointment. At 10:30 a.m. she arrived back at the house and said she would wait because we had a 11 a.m. appointment with a customer. When I exited our meeting I called my wife to find out no one had called or arrived. I then called Sunburst Pools and a gentleman answered, I inquired about our appointment and he said "Water delivery, oh yeah the hot tub" he then stated that they would have someone call within a half hour. I asked him why this happened and explained the trouble it had caused us. He kindly stated he would have to have someone call me back. Within 15 minutes the driver called and said he was 45 minutes out. The water got delivered. When the technician arrived he asked if he could drive through the yard instead of pulling a hose. My wife stated that would not be acceptable. The technician told her that the truck had only a half tank of water and that if hadn't rained. After minor resistance he pulled the hose up to the hot tub instead of driving through our yard. He filled our hot tub and left an invoice. Later that day, the owner called back around 4 p.m. as requested. I told him we were very inconvienced do to them not being on time. He stated he had scheduled no time. I told him we were given a time and we own a service orianted business and that no one expects a customer to wait all day and has no respect for their customers time. He then stated " I Do!" I then told him we would pay our invoice and explain our experience. He said " Do what you have to do!" And hung up the phone. We have use the company several time in the past with great service but I learned it had been taken over by another company. I had the misfortion of speaking with the new ownership. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had and had and complete disregard and concern for our time and inconvenience. I truly hop no one is treated this way in the future.

Every experience we have had with sunburst has been smooth and trouble free. Always helpful and straight forward with repairs or something simple like helping fix water issues.

On June 29th, a very large tree fell on our home, fence, retaining wall and pool. Joe responded promptly to our call for service. He replaced our liner, some plumbing and various other storm related repairs to the pool. He was professional and went above and beyond normal repair service. I will recommend him to pool owners for maintenance and I am looking forward to visiting his store front to check out the pool supplies. I have also signed up for a pool closing in the fall. I trust he will do a great job. I wish all of the contractors that I have to deal with related to the storm damage were as reliable as Joe. He provided good old fashion customer service. That's rare these days. Thanks, Joe.

They stated pending weather they would finish constructing the pool in about 2 work weeks. They dropped off the equipment to start on 4/15/2011 and then we had a month of rain so the pool did not start construction until mid-May. They stated they would be finished by Memorial Day. Due to conflicts with other contractors and the fact that they had 1 person working on the job most of the time they did even finish by mid July. I had scheduled a party on the 4th of July weekend and they poured concrete for the deck the Friday before the holiday and stated they got it done before my party. Needless to say I had to cancel the party (can't have a party on 1 day old concrete). I sent them a punch list of items to finish the week after the 4th ( the pool was now 98% complete) and they promised it would get done before the next weekend, Despite great weather 1 person showed up to work a half day on Tues and a half day on Wed. No one showed up Thursday so I called the owner for the 20th time and he did not know that no one showed up to do any work on Thursday. He promised to get back to me Thursday night. By Friday afternoon no call from the owner and I had had enough. I called and emailed him that I was firing his company and would not pay the last $1000 installment on the pool. He never replied and I have had to hire others to complete the last few items on the pool (final grading, grout around bricks etc). I have no complaint about the quality of the work but the companies responsivness and their promptenss in completing work when it was promised was well below standard.
Response from Sunburst Pools
"What the member does not understand nor wants to is that his OTHER contractors gave us many delays, caused job overruns in price due to their errors, removed our in place equipment, was the wettest May in 103 years, then rained almost every evening the first three weeks in June. This is an IN-GROUND pool. It gets wet in the ground. yet, he wanted a party for July 4th weekend. That was what was important to him it seemed. not the job quality which he states is good. We did our complete the job for his party. We did. My company paid extra to the concrete plant as well as extra men to get the job done so he could have a party. The deck was poured and pool was operational. I do not agree with the member's assessment. When he did try to contact me I was unavailable due to health issues. He was informed of that. He did not care. He was also informed of problems of other contractors he hired such as causing Sunburst to bring in an additional 30 tons of gravel, extra time and work due to fact his building contractor set HIS building out of grade. Again, the member does not care. Sunburst did this to try and satisfy the member. In actuality, when the member states he hired another contractor to finish "small" details, we were ecstatic. Almost any other contractor would have pulled out of this job but we are professionals. He states the pool is quality. IT IS. yes it is.; but he was more concerned on a time frame than a quality job. We will not do certain things if weather or circumstances does not permit it to be done properly regardless of the homeowners thoughts. We try and do it properly under all circumstances Joe Wagner Owner Sunburst Pools"

On 9/28/07, I purchased a winter pool cover from Sunburst Pools. This spring, upon opening the pool, we saw the sunken cover full of water. We pumped the water off of the cover for a week, but had no luck since pool water was continuing to come though the cover. It was very obvious that the cover was defective. On 4/17/2008, I spoke with Joe, the store owner and explained the situation. He advised me that he would send out John, the service manager, to come take a look at it. He came out and confirmed that there was a problem and that he would have his crew come out with a pump to remove the water from the cover. The crew came out and attempted to remove the water with a very small pump; this was unsuccessful. They decided to just remove the cover and then dumped the dirty water, leaves and debris into the pool. They took the cover with them, left me with no receipt or documentation, and said they would be back in a couple days to clean out leaves and debris from my pool. Originally Joe had told me that he would be willing to replace the cover free of charge, but when I called him today, he had changed his mind and indicated that he would not have to replace the cover. Joe had told me that they would be coming back out today, but after the last phone call I just had, I do not think that anyone will be coming out.
