Meet with Alan and told him that I wanted to start over with my landscaping. The only ideas I had were to removed 3 trees that had grown too close to the house and rebuild the retaining wall in front of the house. Everything else was up to Alan. He took measurements of my property and told me he would be back in touch with me in a week with a design. He completed the design in a week and we met to discuss his plan. The plan had a drawing of my lot, where plants would be placed, a description (with color photo) of each plant, and an itemized cost list.. I told him what I liked and didn't and he went back to revise the plan. I agreed to the revisions and he scheduled me for late April early May. About a week before work was to start, I told Alan that I was unsure about the retaining wall design. He revised the plan again and suggested that I visit a stone supplier to view my options. After the visit, I decided to go back to the original design.
Unlike other landscape companies that have 8-10 people on your property, tripping over themselves, Rochell had an on-site manager and never more than 3 people on the job. It took a couple of days to removed all the old stuff. The retaining wall took about 3 days to complete, and about a week to re-cut the beds, trim the current shrubs, plant new stuff, and lay new mulch. By not having an army of people of people on-site, I think there was a greater attention to detail which led to a "crisper" look when the job was finished. Several neighbors have stopped by to commented on how good the new landscaping looks.

"We would never intend to leave a customer unsatisfied! Our last communication was getting screamed at and hung up on. We stand behind our work and plant material. The plants installed came directly from the nursery and were planted. The plants were not dead they were simply smaller than a couple of the other ones planted. We inspected the plants and there were no brown spots and no dead material on them. If we felt as if replacing the plants again would have fixed the situation we would have done so. We feel that none of our personnel deserves to be swore at and hung up on. We regret the situation and are looking forward to ensure this is never an issue in the future."

This company ceases to amaze me. I have read their follow up to my review and they are liars. My yard was not in poor shape prior to them providing services. It was actually in great shape and one of the best in my neighborhood. They never came out to view my property prior to "them" starting fertilizer service on my lawn. Actually, Ryan the office manager looked my property up on google earth while at the shop to give me a price. This was so that he didn't have to come out and measure. As stated in their feedback response, "It looked to be a lack of water and care prior to our arrival". Lack of care is false and so is lack of water. It was the middle of the hottest part of summer. All grass will be stressed at this point. As a lawn care professional I would have thought this company would have know to keep heavy machinery off of the lawn. Instead, your workers drove a tractor pulling a sprayer to apply the product. I believe most people would agree that heavy machinery should not be used on a lawn in the middle of summer and during the hottest part of the day. When mowing a lawn during the summer it is common knowledge to mow either early or late in the day so damage is minimized to the grass. I know this, and I expected this company to know this.
Once again, this company is horrible and they have proved that with their follow up feedback. If you want to hire them for services, I cannot recommend them. If you do happen to hire them for services, I wish you the best of luck.

"We are truly sorry about the situation. We did follow through with all necessary steps to ensure the problem was handled. We contacted our representatives at Lesco our fertilizer supplier to look at the property. Their opinion as well as ours is that there was nothing done by us to kill the lawn. The lawn was in very poor shape when we originally began servicing the property. It looked to be a lack of water and care prior to our arrival."

Because of the weather, the project got off to a slow start. But, once Rochell began, the project was completed very quickly and professionally. Rochell was very responsive in making changes to the patio design we requested. They also created a computer-generated patio layout for us to review. Their design guidance early-on helped us get the final results we were looking for.

I was a client of theirs for years and years. We were more than pleased with them and they hired a business manager and I had a falling out with him. We went with a different company after this. It was sad this happened as Mr. Rochell is a fine man to do business with.

The service was fine. They were very friendly. At the time they did the work a lot of the workers came down with colds and they communicated well during this time. They put down plywood as they had to use heavy machinery to do the work. It still left a few track marks and they used straw and seed to replant as they told me they would have to do. I would have had them do that a little different as the straw caused weeds. They did what they told me they would do and the work was good.

They were great to work with through the entire process. We made repeated changes during the initial design phase and they were very flexible and had lots of great ideas. During the construction phase they always showed up early in the morning and worked until dark. They are hardworking and reliable and we are thrilled with the final result.

I ended up firing them because they did a lousy job. I would not recommend anyone to use them. They decided to plant grass seed on July 1st and we were out of town. They did okay on the beds but the new beds that they were supposed to dig, were not defined. They started to install the turf and that’s when I told them that they needed to go because the base of the ground area was not adequately leveled and graded away from. So there were literally puddles all over the place. There were a couple of paper patios that they were supposed to install on the outside of the gate which they decided to seed the grass before they did those, and I’m not sure why. They used cheap plant material. I had them put plants along the outside of the fence and about half of them along the back of the fence were dead. They were dead when they installed them and so I told them that I wanted them replaced. They kept telling me that they would get through it but they never did it. They used cheap spirella and some kind of purple plants that quite honestly were very ugly. I definitely would not use them again. Their price was average. We tried to resolve the problem but I don’t want them on my property again. I don’t want to deal with them anymore.

"In response to this report we deeply urge you to look at this members other reports. They have a history of bad reports. No company that works fro them will satisfy them. We you the highest quality plant material and products available. We had been providing service to this member for 7 years prior to this project. The reason for the project was to upgrade the property because the home owners association was pursuing a lawsuit due to the poor condition of the property. The project was a struggle from start to finish. The sonsumer terminated the project after physically threatening one of our employees. Please take this report at face value and contact us to get a long list of referrals from reasonable people. It is unfortunate that this project ended the way that it did. We have taken alot of time to review the situation and find out why this project went in a downward direction. The consumer did not pay for any of the services rendered and it looks to be headed in the direction of litigation. Our number one goal is customer satisfaction from start to finish. This report is inaccurate and for the most part untrue. We hope you take more than this report in consideration of our quality and craftsmanship."

The work Rochell did was generally of good quality. There were times it seemed that they were rushing through the job, and more than once I wish they would have taken into account how soggy our back lawn can be before dragging their big mower through it and creating muddy tracks through the grass. That being said, I typically did not have any concerns with the work performed. In terms of communication, I would have appreciated more responsiveness from the owner on specific service concerns (such as the one above) and requests for estimates. Alan seemed to respond more readily to my husband's phone calls (which I didn't appreciate, but didn't necessarily take offense to,) but in general his responses weren't consistent. At this point, we have purchased our own lawnmower and will most likely go through a different company for any landscaping needs.
