Mike McCarthy Construction

In November 2010, I contracted with Michael McCarthy Construction to supply and install three storm doors and one interior door at my home. The company's owner, Mike McCarthy, requested a $1400.00 downpayment for the work. However, I never received a scheduled installation date. In January 2011, I called Mike McCarthy, who told me that the weather was too cold to install the doors because of the amount of exterior work involved. When warmer weather arrived in April 2011, I contacted Mike McCarthy again for an installation date. He promised to schedule the work within the next few weeks. The work was never done. Subsequent attempts to contact Mike McCarthy by phone were unsuccessful. In June 2011, I wrote a letter to Michael McCarthy Construction requesting a refund of my downpayment. I received no response to my refund request nor did I receive my downpayment back. In July 2011, I filed a complaint against Mike McCarthy Construction with the Willoughby Small Claims Court for the return of my downpayment and court costs. Mike McCarthy did not respond to the complaint nor did he appear at the scheduled trial in August 2011. The Court granted a judgment in my favor for the amount requested. However, to date I have not received payment from Mike McCarthy Construction.
