JOUGHIN HARDWARE

I bought an older wooden swingset off of craiglist for my little one's 2nd birthday. It needed some firming up, and a fresh coat of stain. We went to Joughin's Hardware on a family recommendation. First of all, the historic building is amazing. Well cared for, and preserved. Mr. Joughin himself helped us with this project. He knew exactly what we were doing, even when we didn't (put what bolt where?), and knew exactly where all the hardware was located in the store. He then directed us to his amazingly knowledgeable paint guy. When we got the stain home, and tested it on the swingset, my husband and I decided we wanted a different color. The next day we went back, but (oh no!) his paint guy was on vacation till after the scheduled birthday party, where we had planned to unveil said swingset. Mr. Joughin explained that the stain we bought was a precise recipe of pure paint colors masterfully mixed by someone who knew what they were doing- not by himself. We told him that because it was a child's swingset, and we weren't looking for a precise color (just something more obnoxiously purple that we originally got). After many assurances from us that we weren't picky (and maybe a little begging), Mr. Joughin said he was willing to try to mix the paint himself. And he did an awesome job! There were literally high fives all around. Good fun, and amazingly helpful.
