JANECEK HOME IMPROVEMENT

Being new to the area, my husband and I recently relocated from Pennsylvania, we weren't sure about permits and what was needed and what wasn't. It is absolutely our responsibility to find that out but in Pa we never had too, the contractor always took care of that part.  Apparently Jon never obtained permits for any of the work he did on our house. He installed the fence without the cement footers, when questioned about it he said it wasn't needed. The gate for the fence is not a real gate It is just a piece of fence cut in half and after only one month doesn't close right and the lock is already rusting. My husband had to finish filling in the posts with dirt from the yard.

As far as the door removal and window installations, after installing the windows he left the frame open for days on the outside of the house with insulation hanging out while it was raining. The capping around the windows and the siding under the new window was so sloppy was husband made him do it again. He left nails sticking out in the wall on the inside wall of the house. I do believe that all that is holding the window in the frame is caulk. He left the work site a mess every day with debris all over and my husband and I had to clean up so our dogs wouldn't step on any nails. As a homeowner I know it was my responsibility to have checked him out further instead of taking the word of a neighbor and I will regret having him do this work always,  but if I can prevent another home owner going through what we went through then that's the least I can do.

THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH BOTH LOCKS. HE RETURNED ON TWICE TO FIX THEM. IN THE EARLY FALL I NOTICED A LARGE GAP GOING UP THE SIDE OF THE DOOR WHERE THE LOCKS ARE, THE GAP BEING WIDER AROUND THE LOCK AREA, AND THERE WAS AIR COMING IN ALONG THE GAP. THERE WAS ALSO AIR COMING IN ON THE LEFT SIDE AND AN AREA ALONG THE TOP. I CALLED HIM 4 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL WEEKS. HE HAD NOT RETURNED MY CALLS. IT WAS ONLY ON THE 4TH TRY THAT HIS WIFE ANSWERED THE PHONE. HE WAS ANNOYED, ARGUMENTATIVE AND NOT RESPONSIVE TO MY CONCERNS. AFTER A STRESSFUL CONVERSATION, HE DID MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO COME BACK. ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RETURNED AFTER APPROXIMATELY A MONTH. I CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE BUT HE HAS NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I HAVE HAD TO DUCT TAPE THE DOOR AT TIMES TO KEEP THE COLD AIR OUT, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. I MADE THE DECISION NOT TO PURSUE GETTING HIM BACK TO REPAIR THE DOOR. IT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF BY SOMEONE ELSE. THE STRESS IS JUST NOT WORTH IT.
