I have mixed feelings about this firm. I had wanted help with redoing my living room and dining room and ordered wall covering, upholstery and drapes through New York Textiles. Ideas were good. Thefabric that she brought for me to look at was really nice and the work she did was good. However, She was always off on the pricing and timing. Initially, we talked about purchasing a couch through her, ordering custom fabric and how much less it would be through her firm- but everything centers around her making a commission. She was way over on her original quote for the couch and I purchased through Fish Furniture at less than what her new quote was. Same fabric, better couch. Drapes were delayed by quite a long time - and she sent them out of town to be done - she hung them, but they are wrinkled in places. When I had purchased custom drapes from in the past, firm actually would bring an iron and spray and help place them. She had originally quoted me $500 for paint and wallcovering one wall in living room and dining room. I wound up going with another contractor who I bought the paint from. Cost was still $500 for wallcovering and we had way extra. When my contractor said that she should take it back, as it wasn't opened, she eventually did, but it was a big restocking fee - so really not worth the effort. Several times her voice mail was full and you could not leave her a message. She had brought me ideas for an accent chair - originally again, told me chair would be about $300 - wound up being over $500 - it looks great, but the whole point was she was off on the price. The biggest problem I had was on the carpet. She had measured my living room and dining room and upstairs hallway - she told me to use her carpet dealer at dealer prices. I met her, asked the owner while I was there if I could pay by credit card and he stated that we could and he would pay her. She indicated she could live with the commission built in and would charge me an extra hour for her time. I indicated that I also wanted to carpet the master bedroom and we guesstimated the size of the room - and additional cost. But, she had been in the room, so she had some idea of size. She had her contractor come out and measure. And, I was to place the order Monday morning. I got a call from her at 8 pm Sunday night saying it had to be a cash deal no credit card and that I needed way more carpeting than original quote and that the dealer she took me to would not pay her direct anymore. Well, I pulled the plug on the deal. She was nasty with me on the phone and I did get my carpet in by another firm - the same carpet! The measurements were wrong from her contractor by a lot - or she added extra in - and I think she was padding the bill - so, I actually purchased an upgrade of the exact carpet from a store that belongs to the same co - op arrangement as her dealer for a couple dollars more than our guesstimate. It was on time and installed within 10 days.
