DECK KING RESTORATIONS INC

After being told by a structural engineer that rotted wood needed to be replaced prior to installing a new deck, they proceeded to build over the bad wood . Now have water leaking into my garage. Have had three companies out all pointing to this problem. He refused to help solve the issue. They painted my home and replaced the deck. My bad, found out they had not pulled a permit with the city and were also not registered. Had something happened (he had young painters on high ladders) I would not have been protected. I had requested wire cabling for the deck fence. This was not only poorly installed ( he had to come back every few weeks to fix hanging wires)but the material rusted within six months. All will need to be replaced. I will be paying almost the entire price of the deck to repair and replace. Also discovered that a cedar wall which they installed was done with two 4 ft posts stacked and hinged, the wall was starting to sway and now we know why. Shoddy workmanship and did not stand behind the work. DO NOT RECOMMEND! After the fact, saw a review of another who had steps built and again was built on rotted wood.

Had this company out several times to do the staining. There was an issue the last time they stained our deck. Contacted them, told them we were not happy. they came out and fixed the problem. Contacted them this year to do the same work and possibly stain a new fence that we had installed. They never returned our call. Left messages several times. We believe that they did not contact us due to the fact that we complained about the quality of the job done several years ago and requested that they fix the problem.

Absolutely fantastic! Jim suggested we do a two tone on the deck. Im so glad we did it. Totally transformed the back of the house.

I had a deck stain project, the price was good, but the stain quality is NOT good, even after he came back again and stained the deck, the quality still not good. I was told that stain would last years and only couple of months later, started to peel. He also never came back fr a project we agreed to do, and never responded to my phone calls.

Things went very well.

Jim came out within a day of calling to do the quote and the pricing was very competitive. The team from Deck King completed the job as promised, was professional and really went the extra mile moving some things out of the way for us to get to the house to paint. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Deck King and would hire them again in the future

Jim met with me on a Sunday for an estimate. He always called ahead as I had requested and arrived when he said he would. He was professional and courteous. The painting was done to our satisfaction. We would definitely use this company again when we have a need.

They helped us pick the correct color.

Jim met the schedule exactly, He had identified all product and equipment necessary at the proposal process. His costing was exact. There were no additions even though the roof work proved slightly more complex. He left the property immaculate after both work days. Both he and his crew members were quick to answer any question or concern. His work performance was outstanding and the teamwork was well demonstrated . It was a totally positive experience and we have been quick to recommend him to others.

I made an appointment with Deck King Restorations, Inc., to stain my new two sided Shadow Box fence. Jim Edwards explained the different types of stains and colors available, The contract detailed the work to be done and the materials to be furnished. When the weather was warm enough for the stain to adhere, I received a call to set up a date to perform the work. On the scheduled date, I was notified they were on their way and would arrive in 30 minutes. They were polite, organized and worked in a timely manner. The stain color was what I requested. The end result is beautiful !!

Overall; very upsetting. They did the power washing and came back on Saturday 9-15-12 to do the staining. I was VERY concerned about protecting the new siding we just had installed on the back and sides of our home. Several times I told them of my concern and said I wanted them to be very careful not to damage the siding. I was assured they would do whatever was necessary to protect it. They said they brush stain on the first few feet close to the house and then they spray the rest. Before they were to come out we offered to cover the new siding ourselves and I was told that was part of their job and I was assured they would take care of it. They didn't.
When they were done there was dark brown over spray all over the back of our house; some areas far worse than others. The over spray spanned an area of 16 X 50 feet. Our brand new light beige siding had over spray everywhere as did the windows, patio doors and new light fixtures. Next to the deck; our patio furniture, hose reels and baby toys were also covered with over spray.
I called Deck King Monday morning 9-17-12. They said they would send someone out to clean it that day. I don't think they realized just how bad it was because they sent one man out and when he saw all the over spray he got on the phone and told whomever he was talking to, and quot;This is the worst case of over spray I have ever seen. It's everywhere.and quot; He then told me he didn't mind cleaning up his own mistakes but he didn't like having to clean up someone else's mistakes. He was visibly angry. He started to clean the siding with OOPS and after a few hours said he was done for the day and someone else would be out the next day.
I called the siding manufacturer and they did not recommend using OOPS. They told me it needed to be cleaned with brushes, rags, Soft Scrub and rinsed thoroughly. I sent Deck King an e-mail and told them what was recommended and they needed to send a crew out, not one man, because of the extent of the damage. They did come out the next day with three people and tried to clean the siding. They also power washed our patio furniture, hose reels and baby toys.
It's improved somewhat but the over spray is still there. It's in crevices, creases and areas you can't get to with cleaner. It can't be power washed because the areas still affected won't tolerate the water pressure. Our new light fixtures have to be taken down by us and cleaned by hand.
Deck King did keep in contact with me via e-mail (I would not take any phone calls, at my request, to avoid any miscommunication). They want to come to try to clean again this week; if I will point out the areas of concern. The problem is there is no way to completely restore the siding to the brand new, pristine condition it was in before the over spray.
I had the siding rep and installer survey the damage last week. Their recommendation is to replace the siding.
I have e-mailed Deck King the recommendation and the estimate to fix the damage.

they said and did a great job,our deck has'nt looked this good in years.the color was'nt as dark as we thought it would be but it's grown on us . Deck King did a great job and they were local that is a plus as far as i'm concerned.

The owner came on the day I requested since I wanted to be there when he came to explain what I wanted (I had another bid I was waiting for but the guy came on a day I could not be home) hence the second person did not bid on the entire job because he did not come so that I could explain it to him. Needless to say he did not get the job. But Deck King gave me a great bid and came in a tmely manner and did a great job.

Owner and crew came out as promised. They all were professional, courteous and very neat. We had just had some landscaping done and were concerned about stain getting on the new shrubs. No problem....everything was covered carefully and left undamaged.We would highly recommend to anyone without any reservation. You will NOT be disappointed. What a pleasure to deal with :)

The location is unique in that the only access to the deck is through my living area. The owner came out the week before to give me an estimate and did not express any concern regarding the challenges of the location. He came out at the scheduled appointment time with another employee to set up and then left the employee to finish the job. They were very thorough and I couldn't believe how much better my deck looked when they were done. They were very neat despite having to go through my house. Neighbors had their deck cleaned by another company and there was no comparison. Overall very professional and efficient and I will hire them again.
