When I called Karen back she was upset with me, stating that I hung up with out saying goodbye! I should of just walked away right their.
being the time of year and seeming that it would take another company at least 6 weeks to complete the work, I agreed to the price. told the two boys that Karen said to put the new price down on paper to have me sign it. I agreed.....the two boys took a phone call from Jim and said they are leaving and they were really sorry but jim told them not to do the work and move on to the next job.
I called Karen back and it went to voicemail, left a message that I am really confused......30 seconds after I agree to the NEW price they walked off the job!
If you have ever agreed to something with someone and it changes at the last possible second, you feel like you were just
robbed and cheated......this is what I felt like from this whole experience. Now we have to start again and have someone else out to give us a proposal, set a date, AGREE on a price and then considering the time of year and graduation party coming cross my fingers and hope it can gets done in time,
"[member name removed] called for a bid to do his deck, I came out and gave him a bid for the deck. After he agreed to the proposal, My employees of 5 yrs, not young kids went out to wash the deck, at that time [member name removed] told them he wanded us to do the pergula. My employee call me and Karen called [member name removed] and told him that the pergula was not in the bid. [member name removed] was rude to Karen and I felt that it was better to just walk away from the job because the way he spoke to Karen, no matter what we would have done, [member name removed] would not of been satified. I did not take a penny from [member name removed].My emploees and my self work very hard and take pride in our work,Doing over 200 decks a year sometimes it is best to not do a job for someone that is angry when we haven't even toughed his deck."
When they were done there was dark brown over spray all over the back of our house; some areas far worse than others. The over spray spanned an area of 16 X 50 feet. Our brand new light beige siding had over spray everywhere as did the windows, patio doors and new light fixtures. Next to the deck; our patio furniture, hose reels and baby toys were also covered with over spray.
I called Deck King Monday morning 9-17-12. They said they would send someone out to clean it that day. I don't think they realized just how bad it was because they sent one man out and when he saw all the over spray he got on the phone and told whomever he was talking to, and quot; This is the worst case of over spray I have ever seen. It's everywhere.and quot; He then told me he didn't mind cleaning up his own mistakes but he didn't like having to clean up someone else's mistakes. He was visibly angry. He started to clean the siding with OOPS and after a few hours said he was done for the day and someone else would be out the next day.
I called the siding manufacturer and they did not recommend using OOPS. They told me it needed to be cleaned with brushes, rags, Soft Scrub and rinsed thoroughly. I sent Deck King an e-mail and told them what was recommended and they needed to send a crew out, not one man, because of the extent of the damage. They did come out the next day with three people and tried to clean the siding. They also power washed our patio furniture, hose reels and baby toys.
It's improved somewhat but the over spray is still there. It's in crevices, creases and areas you can't get to with cleaner. It can't be power washed because the areas still affected won't tolerate the water pressure. Our new light fixtures have to be taken down by us and cleaned by hand.
Deck King did keep in contact with me via e-mail (I would not take any phone calls, at my request, to avoid any miscommunication). They want to come to try to clean again this week; if I will point out the areas of concern. The problem is there is no way to completely restore the siding to the brand new, pristine condition it was in before the over spray.
I had the siding rep and installer survey the damage last week. Their recommendation is to replace the siding.
I have e-mailed Deck King the recommendation and the estimate to fix the damage.
"We have been in contact with the member numerous times to resolve this issue. We came out the very day she called to clean the overspray and returned the following day to continue cleaning the siding. We called her after we finished and asked is we got everything came off since it was pouring rain while we were there. It took her many days to respond to that phone call. She responded by email and said that we did not get everything off. We then offered to come back when she would be available to point out the area's of concern. She refused to let us come back. We then offered to come out to power wash the house, and she refused that also. We agreed to put in a claim to our insurance company, but we would need to get paid for the 2 decks that we washed and stained. She beleives that she is going to get new siding and 2 free deck washes and stainings. We have been in contact with our insurance company and they are waiting for us to give them the go ahead after we receive payment for the decks. We will take care of this matter, but they must also take care of their obligation to us."
they provided a great estimate, and detailed their services.they came out when
they said and did a great job,our deck has'nt looked this good in years.the color was'nt as dark as we thought it would be but it's grown on us . Deck King did a great job and they were local that is a plus as far as i'm concerned.Licensing
