He offered two solutions. 1) replace window's wood trim that had warped and split and treat window leak based on what he found - quoted $600. 2) remove wood trim and all dormer siding, correct leaking window area and install new plastic siding that ran all the way to the window (leaving no wood trim or future maintenance thereof)- quoted $1,200. Estimated start date of August 1. On August 1, three weeks later, he arrived and started work. Completed the following day mid-afternoon. Weather those days was very hot and humid, but he persevered. Found and corrected faulty original window installation - we expect no more leakage of wind-driven rain. Siding job looks perfect. Asked for and accepted the previously agreed-upon amount.
