Great service! I would highly recommend Al and The Home Detective. He was highly skilled and knowledgeable, he was able to explain different home issues in words we could understand (this will be our first home).

INSPECTED A HOUSE WE WERE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING. HE WAS EXCEPTIONALLY THOROUGH. HE WENT THROUGH THE HOUSE FROM THE BASEMENT TO THE ATTIC INSIDE. HE CHECKED THE PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, THE HVAC SYSTEMS, THE APPLIANCES, THE ELECTRIC PANEL, THE LIGHT FIXTURES, THE CEILING FANS, THE WATER PRESSURE, THE WINDOWS, THE DOORS. HE INSPECTED THE ROOF, THE SIDING, THE DECK, THE PORCH, THE PAINT ON THE PORCH, THE CHIMNEY,THE FOUNDATION, THE CEMENT IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE DRAIN IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE GARAGE, THE GARAGE ROOF, THE FLOOR IN THE GARAGE, AND MANY, MANY MORE ITEMS. HE THEN SENT US A DETAILEDEPORT VIA E-MAIL WHICH MADE OUR DECISION WHETHER TO BUY OR NOT MUCH EASIER.

From the moment that we scheduled the service, we were happy. We were told that John would be the inspector, and the morning of the inspection he arrived at the time specified. The service that John provided was excellent! He explained in detail what the inspection would involve. He welcomed our presence as he completed the inspection, explained everything that would be of concern to a prospective home-buyer as he went along. He was very friendly, and delivered a complete and thorough report on the very next day, as promised. We have already recommended John to a friend, and will continue to do so - he was great!

John Farmiloe performed the home inspection for our new home. John was wonderful to work with during the stressful process of home buying. He was able work around our tight schedule, squeezed us in for an appointment within 24 hours, and spent over 3 hours on weekday evening going through the home with us. John was extremely thorough, knowledgable, and efficient at his work. We received our completed, detailed report within the timeframe he promised and found the information to be very helpful in the decision making process of finalizing our purchase. We would highly recommend John for anyone interested in obtaining a full home inspection.

John Farmiloe was an excellent inspector. He was very picky, took his time, and explained everything as he went along. He was extremely professional toward both the buyer and the seller. I learned quite a bit about the home and possible solutions to problems. He explained well even to a non-mechanical person such as myself. He made a big effort to get into hard to reach spots in the attic even though it was dirty, crowded with stuff and hot. I would highly recommend John Farmiloe and The Home Detective Inc.Strongsville

Al did a great job with the use of a drone to spot signs of leakage around a second story window. The drone took detailed photos and showed me where I needed to do repairs and re caulk. I would definitely use Al and his company again.

We found this provider, John Farmiloe on angie's list for a good deal. He was cheerful, respectful and entertaining and did a thorough work and did not rush to finish his job. He brought his 20 yr son along and he was fun too. They went above and beyond and did things which he was not supposed to do and for the price we offered. He gave his honest feedback on things which he noticed. We are quite happy with his work and I would totally recommend him to others. Our close friend who is bit experienced in home inspections came along with us and he said that he would totally hire him for his next home inspection.

I cannot say enough about John. He was professional, thorough and very knowledgeable about every bit of his inspection. He brought up things we had never noticed and gave us excellent advice about how to correct some of the problems in our house. We had never had our home inspected and this was the best $300 I ever spent. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a thorough home inspection.

Al performed the inspection. He was courteous, prompt and explained in easy to understand terms what was going on with the house. He was good about giving his opinion on what he felt would be areas of the home that would need immediate attention and those areas where it was not as pressing. Very, very thorough and will give it to you straight. He didn't rush or act like his mind was already on his next job which was appreciated. I highly recommend his services!

He was very accommodating, given the short time frame and the fact that I could not be there myself and had to send my realtor. My realtor said that she was very impressed and would definitely recommend him to future clients.

David was very polite, professional and truly cared about the work and service he was providing us. He encouraged my husband and me, plus my father-in-law and our realtor to walk along with him and ask any questions as we went. He explained everything he saw. He even got out his infrared light to check a couple questionable areas to make sure there was truly no water leaking, even though that is not actually covered in the general inspection. The written report he provided was very clear, easy to follow/understand and the pictures were nicely labeled. Compared to the person we had do the home inspection on the home we sold, he beat him HANDS DOWN!

Our appointment was scheduled towards the end of the day to accommodate our work schedule's. When we got there Allen had finished with the outside inspection and very thoroughly walked us through outside and inside. He explained everything very well and gave us little tips on how to fix any minor issues with little cost. Extremely professional and knowledgeable. I HIGHLY recommend them for any and all inspection needs!

From the moment John and his son Josh pulled up I knew I made the right choice by going with the Home Detectives! John was very knowledgeable and very thorough during the inspection. Was great to see the father/son team working together. There were a few issues that came up with the house and John went over all of the things with me in great detail and made great recommendations! Also there was a portion of the basement wall that the owner had covered completely with storage boxes and John was not able to get a good look so he offered to come back to recheck at no cost after the owners clear the area. Both John and Josh were very personable and made us feel very comfortable and confident in purchasing this home! Not only did we get the service we had hoped for, the price was unbeatable! It was a 3 hour process. Everything was explained thoroughly and very knowledgeable. John did not leave anything up in the air. He gave alot of positive input about the house along with things which needed to be addressed prior to purchasing of the house. It could of been a long and tedious process but John turned it into a very informative and learning experience. Overall, John turned a stressful situation into an enjoyable day!!!! His report was concise with pictures and deetails. It was given to me within 24 hrs after the inspection

These guys were great. We set up a time through Angies List email, and they showed up on time. They performed a thorough home inspection and sent the report to me via email. Both of them were very knowledgeable and professional to work with. I'd definitely use them again!

Punctual guy, got started before I arrived. Attention to detail, noticed things I didn't, which is why I hired him. Courteous and Pleasant, easy to talk to. Brief explanations of the work he was doing and the notes he was taking and the warning signs he was looking for made me feel at ease. Prompted me for questions occasionally and answered knowledgeably. Quick turn-around on the report he generated and emailed to me the same day (probably can't always happen). Would recommend.

It went quite well. While we were prepared to spend hours at the house the day of the inspection, the whole general inspection took only about an hour and a half. Our inspector provided some helpful insights into general maintenance things we could do to protect against future damage if we chose to purchase the home, which was nice because this purchase would be our first home. Besides that, there wasn't much wrong with the house. Radon testing results came back very low (and the radon tester was kind enough to use more testing units than he was required to use, to test more areas of the house). Besides the initial inspection, our tester offered to come back when the few repairs he recommended were completed, to inspect the repairs and let us know if they're adequate. We took him up on the offer! Our inspector, Al, was very friendly, and availability was no problem. He met us on the weekend for the first inspection and on a weekday at night for the second. Great guy, very friendly and professional. The radon tester, David, was also a very good guy. When all the inspections were done, both inspectors sent us complete reports of the results. We are very happy with the service from The Home Detective! Recommended!

We had John come out and inspect a 2100 s/f ranch we were purchasing. He was able to fit us in his schedule on only 2 days notice. The first thing he did was explain his contract and services including what he was going to inspect for and what he couldn't inspect, like things hidden in the walls. Since there was a ton of snow on the ground, we started in the basement where he checked the HVAC and plumbing systems, electric panel, foundation, and structure. We them moved upstairs where he went room by room checking all switches and outlets. He checked all bathroom fixtures and checked the operation of every window in the house. We then moved to the garage where he spent a lot of time in the attic checking the structure, insulation, and venting. He also pointed out possible signs of pest problems even though we didn't elect the full pest inspection. Once the inside was complete, we trudged through a foot of snow and walked around the house checking the structure and foundation. John was even gracious enough to take a quick look at an accessory building without charging us extra fees. John made the whole process fun and enjoyable. He pointed out several projects that we could easily do to prevent future problems and gave us honest opinions on the significance of everything he pointed out. It turns out this home was in good shape with only a few minor 'maintenance' items to deal with.

I hired the Home Detective to perform a home inspection of our potential new residence and John was a pleasure to work with from the time I first contacted him and throughout the job. He was professional and informative over the telephone and was able to schedule the inspection with relatively short notice. John and his assistant Dave were both punctual on the day of the job and they conducted what seemed to me to be a thorough review of the home. They included me in the inspection process and provided valuable knowledge concerning the home's various systems and potential problems. I learned quite a bit from the experience that will assist me in caring for the home and John assured me that I could call him in the future if any questions arise. All in all, a great experience and I would highly recommend this company.

I called The Home Detective right before the holidays, thinking they would not be able to fit me in until after Christmas, but John said he could come out later that week and do the inspection. On the day we were scheduled for (12/23/14), we were unable to get a hold of the realtor to unlock the door for us. Of course my husband and I weren't happy, but John was very nice about it. He even offered to come back the next day (Christmas Eve!) to do the inspection, which he did. We were happy with the inspection--he took the time to explain things to us and advise of any and all problems with the home. He did not try to up-sell us on further inspections (for example, pest) that he did not consider necessary based on his general inspection. We felt he was very thorough and knowledgeable, and we received our written report on December 26th. He also called to follow-up and make sure we didn't have any additional questions. In addition to all this, John was also friendly and laid-back--very funny! We would give him and A+ an wouldn't hesitate to hire him again in the future.

Al and John arrived on time. They recommended I accompany them throughout the entire process of the inspection.I preferred they made inspection of each category singularly and discuss the results before going to the next category. This gave me time to think over what was explained to me and ask questions . They are very knowledgeable about all aspects of home building and maintenance. Problems were found and several tests were conducted to help isolate the trouble spots in the plumbing. These men are well worth your time and trust. The deficiencies found amounts to several thousand dollars....most of which would not have been found without their expertise....thanks to AL and JOHN my dreams might have been dashed but my wallet didn't suffer.
