Sauers Chimney Service

OVERPROMISED AND UNDERPERFORMED. Blake promised, before visit, to check chimney --- did not. Promised to check roof Dryer vent -- did not. Clean both Fireplaces --- would not touch 2nd floor F/P as they could not solve the log positioning. They charged 75% of the quoted rate for 2 Fireplaces, even though the job was not close to complete. They seemed rushed to get to the next job, even checking on the distance to the next customer in front of me. They seemed very unsure of the Gas F/P functioning and even consulted the Manual. I am very disappointed in their performance.

Professional and thorough ... cleaned the chimney, fireplace and also cleaned out the woodburner. Returned our initial call within an hour to discuss/schedule the job and called the day before to confirm. Will definitely use them again for cleaning and to install a cap!!

The job on the chimney seemed to be okay, but there was no cleanup of broken cement and brick. in the gutter on the back side of the house. So I had to get my ladder out climb to the top of the gutter and clean all the cement and broken brick. There was also 1/2 bucket of this trash in the grass. Now all this being said, I would not have complained about this job except for what I found out on 12/21/2018. There was a funny smell in the basement by the hot water tank. I decided to call a professional plumber to check out the hot water tank. He said that there was no draft on the flue and said that we had to pull the exhaust pipes from the chimney to the water tank and see what was going on there. We were shocked by what was in the chimney. The chimney was filled with broken pieces of cement and brick blocking the flow of exhaust up the chimney. So, for 4 months exhaust was flowing into my house and not up the chimney. Luckily I had a high powered shop vac and the plumber and I were able to clean all this debris from my chimney. The cost of the plumber added another $100. to this job. Update, 12/31/18: The job went well fixing my chimney top. Quality of work on my chimney was high-quality work. I was glad to find a young man qualified in chimney repair. The only issue I had was lack of cleaning cement chips and concrete out of my gutter below chimney and the chips from the grass. I got my ladder out and cleaned out the gutter and lawn. In my first review. The last issue much of brick and mortar pieces went down the chimney and blocked the hot water tank flue. In a normal chimney, the chips would not have been a problem because the chips would have fallen to the bottom of the chimney that would have been easy to clean out. The flue pipe from the hot water tank was too long and sticking into the center of the chimney blocking the chips preventing them from falling to the bottom. Young man did a wonderful job on my chimney and I would hire him again!!!

Blake was very responsive and helpful. Provided a good and honest assessment of our chimney, which has flaws, but wasn't trying to push other solutions.

When I found my old chimney hood on the ground I called Blake Sauers, expecting him to tell me that I needed a new hood. He came out soon after my call, and reinstalled my old hood , good as new. Blake is a knowledgeable, courteous, pleasant young man, a pleasure to do business with. I will certainly call him again if I ever need any service with my chimney.

Blake, (unlike every other chimney company I called,) returned my call promptly. We were able to work around each other's schedule to have a fairly quick appointment. He went straight to the problem and eventually removed eleven bird nests from my chimney. I watched while he performed the testing to make sure the air was being drawn upward. I was super satisfied with his work ethic.

This guy is great!  I recently had an issue of chimney fireplace smoke coming down the vent side.  He replaced the liner on the vent side since it had never been replaced during the 25 years I've lived here.  (Who knew there were liners in chimneys?  Unfortunately, now I know.)  Blake also rigged the top of the chimney to block fireplace smoke from going down the vent side.  I was recently laid-off and Blake worked with me on pricing which was GREATLY appreciated.  Even though he's younger, he's a professional and is willing to work even in bad weather.  This guy is a gem!  Any further chimney work needed will go to him.

He did an excellent job.  I would recommend him to anyone and his price was very fair.  He told me the price of the doors (which were more than he thought)  so he called the company to make sure it was right.  He came out to measure and made a couple trips to make sure things were right.
