The work was fine and I really like what they did. The trouble is, he does not answer or return phone calls and if he does, he'll promise anything but doesn't follow through. My suggestion is use them, they're good. But hold some money back and make sure they do what was promised before you pay in full. They promised a year guarantee on the plants and he has not replaced any that died. I'm tired pf this fight and figure I'll just eat the $100+ I lost in plants. Lesson learned.

Perhaps the most important thing to know is that the deck project completed by Specialscapes was the second project for which Jay was hired. The first being last year as we were quite happy with the work and the manner in which Jay and his crew conduct themselves.

We used Specialscapes for both a deck and patio and we were so happy with the results and customer service. Jay listened to all of our concerns throughout the process and offered solutions. He was very honest and transparent, I've never been more happy with a contractor!

Specialscapes installed a paver patio for me. Jay made some design and landscaping suggestions that improved the project. They did an excellent job for a reasonable price. They started and ended on time. The work crew was pleasant and thoughtful.

I had requested quotes for repairs to the front patio paver block installation approximately two years ago through the Home Advisor application, with no response received from any local contractor. I sent out another request this past August, and Jay was quick to respond, and visited my home to develop a quote. While on site, I also mentioned the desire to have new paver block installation for a picnic table, and Jay worked up an estimate for this project as well. A portion of the front patio paver block installation had sunk around the front porch area, resulting in a tripping hazard. I couldn't believe how Jay and his team were able to correct the problem, eliminating this hazard. The new paver installation for the picnic table was also completed on time, and to our satisfaction.

BEWARE!!! We hired this company to install a Unilock paver patio. Jay is not a Unilock authorized contractor. Jay was quick to take my money, but getting him here to get the job done after starting was difficult. The job is still not done. Additionally he removed a small section of sidewalk and damaged my brand new siding. What did incorrectly is as follows: He dug the patio in 3 sections, and did not dig it past the width as per instructions, he did not compact the base properly, he laid the pavers incorrectly and again did not follow guidelines. He made my step out of 2 different pavers that are not even on the contract, and it was made at an illegal height of 8 1/2". The poly sand was put down, wet down, then within an hour it rained, so the sand failed and continues to wash out. Some joints in the patio never had any sand. Pavers were not compacted as in instructions and the patio is not pitched correctly. I have many pictures showing the deficiencies as described. Trying to contact Jay is most frustrating as he only has an answering machine and seldom calls back. I am now looking for a new installer. All of the other installers all looked at this patio and actually pointed out even more deficiencies than I originally saw. This whole patio was installed incorrectly from the first dig and still remains undone. While function and foundation is most important to me for longevity, the aesthetics are awful as well. BEWARE!

I contacted several landscapers for a patio and sidewalk project. Jay was very quick to respond. We set a date, reviewed the scope of work and he responded with an estimate for the job. There were several contractors that came out but never got back about a price. Jay set a date for the work which we had to wait for his other jobs, bit it was well worth it. Jay and his crew are timely and hard working. They kept the jobsite as clean as possible, and did excellent work. We are extremely happy with the job and I will recommend Specialscapes Inc all of my friends.

After calling several people for estimates, Jay was quick to respond. He set a date and was on time with the delivery. Jay and his crew; John, James & Chrissy, were awesome to work with. Punctual, hardworking and willing to accommodate us, even after changing the design once the work was started. At the end of the day everything was cleaned up and looked good before they left. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. They did a beautiful job and left with everything looking immaculate, including filling in with top soil and seeding for grass. I wouldn't hesitate to call them for any project.

Jay was easy to work with and very helpful in making some decisions. These guys know what they are doing and have a great work ethic.

Jay & John were awesome to work with!! I had saved some special things on my DVD recorder from TV and they were able to duplicate them even better!!!

Jay was great to work with. He walked me through the process of choosing the type of deck covering that would work best for my needs. The project took only a few short days in difficult weather and clean up was immaculate.
