2 days after the fertilizer was applied, much of our tree lawn turned brown in large patches. The grass had died in those areas. I took photos. That day, a JumpStart employee happened to be on our street, so I called him over to ask what might be wrong with our lawn. He quickly replied it looked like fertilizer burn ( which confirmed my thoughts). He said he would let his boss know ( Bill Hodge). I did not hear from Bill for a few days, so I sent an email explanation of what happened along with my photograph of the damage. I asked for a $10 credit toward my next application. He responded that it was chinchbug infestation problem and that it would cost $80+ tax to treat it. He said he would double check to make sure. I responded that, again, after doing some research about chinchbugs and fertilizer burn that I was still not convinced it was chinchbugs ( mostly because it happened so soon after their fertilizer treatment!) Several days later, Bill called me and said he checked the lawn problem and he saw chinchbugs ( which is questionable, because they are very tiny and hard to see). I still was not convinced ( it would have been very professional if he had contacted me and we could have seen the evidence together!). I told him I did not want the chinchbug treatment and I was going to just continue to water the brown areas ( which is recommended for fertilizer burn issues). Sure enough, the brown areas gradually improved and did not spread. If it had been untreated chinchbugs, the brown areas certainly would have spread! A few weeks later, most of the brown areas are gone. We just have a few small patches of dead grass. It is much improved- with daily watering!! I sent Bill an email update with before and after photos and again told him I thought a good compromise for us would be a $10 credit toward the next application. Yesterday, his employee fertilized our lawn again and I was not given a credit for their error the last time. Bill never apologized to us for the careless fertilizer application and the resulting dead grass. I am angry that he never gave us a credit for the problem. I also think either he was trying to scam us with an unnecessary $80 bug treatment, or he lied about coming to check our lawn. I figured out what the problem was and he misdiagnosed it! I’m just glad I did not give in and pay for a treatment that was not warranted! His employee was correct initially about fertilizer burn! Bill could have apologized for our dead grass, given us the $10 credit to make up for it, and not try to scam us with an unnecessary, expensive bug treatment. I do not want to deal with a dishonest lawncare company that cannot admit ( and correct) damaging mistakes! I am very disappointed and will be looking for an honest company for next year. Our neighbor has not been happy with this company, either, and he’ll be using another company next year, also.

We've been using jump start for three years now. Well, I like the brand of fertilizer they use. They don't try to sell you multiple applications that you don't need. The honesty, integrity, unlike other companies. He's a smaller he's a smaller company and he's not a big scale. Like for instance, I won't say the name, my neighbor pays $62 I paid 43 for about the same yard. I like the brand fertilizer they use. They don't over kill. They don't sell you anything you don't want or try to persuade you, you need this or you need that. They'll do whatever is in your budget. He's been sticking to the same price for these last three years.Last year I had a puppy and I didn't have the back, fertilized. He went back to his original pricing, and he may have to go up a little bit but so far he's been staying at his regular price.Phil is very easy to talk to.I get five applications of fertilizer treatments.

The guy that owns the business came with one worker. He was in my community so I wanted him to do this. He did fine. When I sent him an email, he answered me back. I called and left a message and he called me back. He did a very nice job. Everybody that was coming over said that my yard is so nice. I guess the price was as reasonable as anybody else. I didn't really get a price from anybody else.

Bill came to the house and gave me a over evaluation of the yard. He stated that the yard would need aerating and thatching.

We have used Jump Start for over 2 years. Our lawn was taken over by weeds. Bill gave a very reasonable estimate for complete reseeding. He also cleaned up and remulched our front flower bed, even moving plants from our backyard to help us cut costs. We have him apply fertilizer and weed control in the spring and summer, and our lawn has stayed very healthy and weed-free. Any time we ask about a larger job, his fees are always reasonable.

They are always on time and complete the work. We have them mow our grass, fertilize and remove snow. We have the greenest lawn on the block!
They make sure our dogs are not out in the backyard before opening the gate and make sure the gate is closed securely when they leave.
I think they do a great job and I recommend Jumpstart Lawncare highly.

Called the owner  the end of August and set up an appointment for him to meet me and discuss my lawn problems.  He said insects were causing my lawn to die out in spot.  He sugested a  treatment and reseeding of about half the lawn.  The work was done after Labor Day and after all the rain we have had this fall, I now have a beautiful full lawn going into winter.

I met Bill from Jumpstart when my professional landscape installer had over booked himself and had Bill complete my season. Jumpstart impressed me with better results in just 2 visits, than years with my previous companies. I do water regularly, cut at recommended heights, aerate, and take pride in my lawn. Fertilizer alone won't give you a beautiful lawn.

It went well. He's a pleasure to work with. Didn't follow up on one request for some grub control, but otherwise did well. I wasn't home when any of the applications took place. I did have some continuing weed issues and some browning which the company didn't mention or address during the applications. Overall price was reasonable and the applications were done regularly.

Jump start does very very good work, for a reasonably cheap price; the fertilizing, seeding, and aeration was all top-notch. The only issue was the scheduling - we scheduled further fertilization treatments, and they forgot, arriving later in the season. (They did do extra work to make up for it, though.)

I killed the grass. They detached it, aerated it, brought in top soil, and reseeded. They used blue granules instead of straw. The birds ended up eating the seed because of this. All in all I thought the price was reasonable, but the seed was put down sloppy. Grass was growing on the cement brick that I had to fix later. Three corners had no seed in the yard. When he did come back to look, he did leave a bag of seed to help out though. I like the owner Bill very much, he is very contentious.

I initially called Jumpstart excited because of the reviews. I did not get an answer, so I left a message. Two days later I got a call back stating that because he has no customers in Lakewood, he would not be willing to service my lawn. He told me to call his father and or brother but did not have the numbers on hand but gave me the company names. He told me to search for them on the internet. I was very dissapointed in the lack of professionalism and promptness of this company.

They do a good job of keeping the weeds out, the lawn green and they are reasonably priced. I think some of our neighbors have started using them too because they were happy with what they saw.

I don't have them do anything else, but my neighbors utilize them for lawn maintenance. It is a family company. They are always reliable and responsive. If I have something coming up and needed for them to come sooner in cases where I would have a party or something, they would be very flexible in changing the schedule for me. The prices are very competetive.
