I got the info for Ten Point Remodelers off a Facebook group page for my area. I called and within two hours the owner Adam got in touch with me to inform me he was in the middle of a big job and would call me to discuss the work I was looking to have done. True to his word he called me later and apologized for the delay.
I explained the situation to him and he came out the next day to give me an estimate. He examined my porch and pointed out a few other areas as well. Adam asked many questions to make sure the work was specifically what I wanted. He was upfront about all costs and made sure to stress that sometimes additional problems can be discovered while tuck pointing and repairing the porch. The price he quoted me seemed fair but I did my due diligence and got a few other quotes. Adam's quote and professionalism set him apart as the others could not come close on either front. We were in the middle of a rainy stretch so work was not a possiblity that week. Adam informed me he had to line up his schedule for a larger project the following week and told me what he would need the days he came by to do the porch. (Access to water and electric.)
Another week passed and in the interim Adam came by and installed a light for me on my garage. The following week the weather finally broke and Adam contacted me to make sure he and his crew could start the following day. The job took two days back to back. Not only did Adam do an excellent job tuck pointing, grinding out the old mortar and replacing it with new, he repaired my front step where the concrete pad had cracked. Adam and his crew also removed and re-secured two railing which had been damaged by a falling tree and sealed two cracks in the concrete pad as a preventive measure to keep out moisture.
The porch looks like brand new and soon will be painted. I was so impressed by Adam and his crew's work and the fact that he was up-front about all costs that I will most definetly hire him again for projects big and small. Oh and save for some concrete dust on my grass and the great looking porch I couldn't tell they had been there. They cleaned up that well.

Throughout the process, Adam and his team were very professional. The work was outstanding and they followed through on every detail. These guys take pride in their work and the results speak for themselves. We also have a young daughter and the team took great care to clean up their tools, supplies and dust at the end of each day. We couldn't be happier with our new kitchen.

TenPoint was very pleasant to work with throughout the entire project.  Brian conducted the initial bidding and quotation, and the project started about 3 weeks after acceptance of the quotation.  Adam and Dave arrived to kick off the effort and performed most of the work there after.  The initial phases - tear-down, rough-framing, electrical, HVAC and plumbing proceeded very quickly. Progress slowed a bit when finish work started because we purchased most of those items (vanity, fixtures, countertop, lavatory, tiles) separately.
Adam was great at bringing things to my attention as the project moved along that he thought might be considered "while we were doing some other item x."  Though these change requests ended up adding about 10% to the total cost of the project, these items were realistic given that it was reasonable to expect a few surprises when working on a 70 year-old house.
In the end, these guys did a great job of creating a wonderful living space.  Their attention to detail really shows in the quality of their finish work.  Everyone who worked on the project was pleasant and professional.  I have to explain the "B" on the Responsiveness category - Adam is very focused on the quality of his work, and spent a lot of time making sure that everything was just right.  However, in the midst of that focus he sometimes lost sight of some of the paperwork and feedback needed as the project progressed.  It all worked out well for both of us in the end - we are pretty aggressive record-keepers, and let Adam focus on the work at hand.

Brian came out and made some very good suggestions and also pointed out several corner caps were falling. Brian was able to locate these pieces, that no longer are used in garage construction. Ten Point was originally hired to prepare the garage for us to paint. They also installed outdoor lighting for new patio. Great guys, outstanding skills!

Ten Point did a fantastic job for us.  Everything from the initial consultation to the final touch-up was professional, looks great, and has held up without problems/issues.  They do things right the first time.  The total cost of the job was slightly higher than we'd anticipated, but that was all due to design choices and additional services that we requested as we went along.  This was our first time doing a project like this, and Ten Point taught us a lot--they were very good about helping us achieve a visually striking result while keeping costs reasonable through creative uses of materials and techniques.

When we started the project, we did not know if we would be able to afford to finish the whole basement, and Ten Point worked with us to see what the initial costs were turning out to be as the work progressed.  We were pleased to see that the first portion of the project was coming in at budget, and therefore we authorized the entire job.  Ten Point--and especially Adam, our primary "guy", who was very responsive to phone calls and emails--did a wonderful job of dealing with the city permit requirements, using materials that the previous owners had left behind as much as possible, sourcing materials/fixtures to help us achieve our desired "look", helping us to figure out what would be practical to do on our budget, and thoughtfully solving problems as they came up without causing us unnecessary worry.  The Ten Point team even helped us work with their contractors (separately from the basement work) to correct issues elsewhere in the house that we "didn't get around to" fixing until we had a plaster guy right there already for the basement project.

Ten Point communicated with us very clearly and often.  We were never left wondering what was going on, and they worked with our sometimes-busy schedules to make things happen on a time frame that worked for us.

We rated their price as a "B" because we believe we got a good value for our investment with them, but Ten Point's price wasn't notably better than the estimates we'd gotten from other, seemingly equally reputable, providers.  We picked them because their personalities and business style were a good fit for us rather than because we expected to get a fantastic deal (which would have earned them an "A" on price).  That said, we don't know what quality our other choices would have given us or what "surprise" costs we'd have had with others, and we were quite pleased on both those counts with Ten Point.  They also were good about telling us in advance when payments would be needed, so that we could transfer money between accounts as needed and not risk overdrafts due to check timing.

All of the Ten Point employees and contractors were very polite and friendly and were very careful with keeping our home secure (including using our security system properly) when they were working without us being there.  We were really impressed with the way they kept the basement and other areas of our home as clean as possible during the work.  They cleaned up *every*day* before leaving, which amazed us.  We could shut the basement door and entertain in the rest of the house without there being any hint that work was going on.

The last few items of the job did take a long time to get finished--most of their staff had moved on to other jobs by then and it took a surprisingly long time to go from 90 or 95% done to 100%.  However, we weren't in any hurry to get the work completed (we didn't have any time constraints on our end), and we're sure that if we had given them a deadline, they would have accommodated our needs.  That was the only "downside" to Ten Point's involvement with the project, and it really wasn't a big deal to us.

All in all, our basement finishing experience with Ten Point was a positive one and we would recommend them to anyone considering having work done.  We will definitely be giving them a call for the next big project that comes up around our house!

Adam and Bryan did a great job. The contract was fine and the price was reasonable. They worked with us and there was a situation where the wood on the porch was not in great shape. They worked with us to get a better door for the porch. They put in the threshold around the door as well .The pricing was very reasonable. They also added brick molding.  They had to extend the time period a little because of unfortunate circumstances, but it was not to any hardship to us. We did have a problem, but we called them and they came back in December and Adam fixed the problem. Adam was very prompt and has always been great for us. They were a crew that felt more than just a contractor, they felt like they were very personable and easy to talk to. They are very nice and have a great crew. We might have them out again soon to fix a part for another door that we have and some siding work this year. They seem to have the ability to tackle any jobs that we have. They will tell you if they are able to do the job or not.

We asked for a written estimate (as always). They found and bought the new skylight (superb design with insulated glass). We are thrilled with the look and the improvement in light in our kitchen.

They agreed to $100 to run a test on the roof with our hose. This saved us maybe $10,000. I developed a written agreement and scope of work document that served as the basis of the work project. During the process we found beams damaged by both fire and water. We never knew this home had a fire problem years ago. They were very up front about the added wood cost to fix the unexpected beams. They are men of their word and they clarify the impact as they go. They left us as friends.

We had been experiencing a leak in the dinning room for some time. Ten Point determined the cause was from a French door directly above the guest bedroom. They recommended we replace the door as that was allowing water in with a fixed window on the bottom and transom window at the top and put a small sloping roof on top of the bump out so that water ran off more efficiently. They had the window custom ordered so that it would match all the other windows in the house. They had to take out the door, replace and rebuild the small roof above the bump-out, put in new window, replace all the woodwork, drywall and paint. They also painted and caulked all the outside of the bump-out.

I called at about 7:30am and Adam returned my call quickly. He explained he had a few people to look at due to the storm and would come out as soon as possible. He was able to come the next day, and replaced the piece on the spot.

BRAIN WAS SUCH A FRIENDLY, VERY LIKABLE PERSON. I ORIGINALLY CALLED THE COMPANY THAT INSTALLED THE PATIO, BUT THEY ONLY WANTED TO RE-CAULK THE ROOF AND I WANTED MORE FOR MY MONEY. I WAS INFORMED THAT TENPOINT BUILDERS HAS NEVER DONE A PATIO ROOF BEFORE, BUT THEY WERE WILLING TO WORK WITH ME ON A SOLUTION TO THE PATIO LEAKING. THIS WAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR NOT ONLY MYSELF, BUT BRIAN AS WELL. TENPOINT BUILDERS ARE ALSO WILLING TO LISTEN TO YOUR SUGGESTIONS AND/OR IDEAS. THIS WAS ONE OF THE MORE PLEASURABLE HOME IMPROVEMENT EXPERIENCES I HAVE HAD.

THE PROJECT STARTED JUNE 14TH 2006 AND FINISHED JANUARY 2007. A RAINY SUMMER CAUSED SOME DELAYS. ADAM, BRIAN AND ROB WERE VERY RELIABLE AND FLEXIBLE WITH THE MANY CHANGES AND ADDITIONS IN THE PLAN. THE EXCAVATION SUB EARL WAS ALSO TERRIFIC. ROB THE CARPENTER WAS ALSO EXCELLENT. BRIAN WAS VERY HELPFUL IN HELPING ME WITH DESIGN DECISIONS. ADAM FINISHED UP THE PROJECT AND HAS BEEN AVAILABLE AND RELIABLE WITH ANY MINOR ISSUES. THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS WITH THE BRICK SUBCONTRACTOR AND TENPOINT TRIED TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

Just outstanding! Brian Jones responded to my call immediately, gave us an estimate, and as soon as we gave a deposit they ordered the doors. He wasn't satisfied with the service he was getting from one lumber yard, so he changed to another so that we could get fast service. We were about to move into a new house and wanted the work done before we moved in. As soon as the doors came in, they immediately went to work on the doors and shelves. They were done in three days, to our amazement and delight. Brian came back to make sure everything was perfect, and made a few last minute fixes. Their price was not cheap, but neither was their service and quality. We have doors and shelves that we are very proud of now. I highly recommend Ten Point Builders to anyone who puts quality first in what they want done.

TENPOINT BUILDERS IS OWNED BY TWO VERY TALENTED AND DEVOTED CRAFTSMEN, ADAM AND BRYAN. I ORIGINALLY MET THEM WHEN THEY WERE DISPATCHED TO MY HOUSE BY ANOTHER CONTRACTOR TO REPLACE SOME SIDING. I WAS IMPRESSED THAT THEY DID A GOOD JOB THEN AND ASKED THEM TO UNDERTAKE THE DIFFICULT PATIO RENEWAL. THIS JOB REQUIRED THAT THE REMODELER BE RESOURCEFUL, MOTIVATED AND ARTISTIC IN ADDRESSING THE MYRIAD OF PROBLEMS. THEY WERE IN CONSTANT COMMUNICATION WITH ME ABOUT THE ISSUES OF SCHEDULING AND COSTS. WHEN THE WORK BEGAN, THEY COMPLETED EVERYTHING THAT WAS PART OF THE JOB BEFORE LEAVING. I CONSIDER THE PRICE VERY REASONABLE. I WILL DEFINITELY HAVE THEM DO FUTURE REMODELING. PROJECTS AT MY HOME. THEY WORK CLOSELY FOLLOWED THE ESTIMATE AND WHEN THE METAL WORK EXCEEDED THE ESTIMATE, I WAS TOLD IMMEDIATELY.
