Neighborhood Construction

I had Dave remove the old railing around two ends and stairs, which was not much as most of the deck is open using installed benches as barriers.  He then reinstalled, using Deckorator balusters, the railing and adding another stairway rail.  He was easy to work with and our design ideas matched.  The cost of the work is his pay.  I purchased all the material from a list he provided.  If a customer doesn't feel comfortable to purchase the supplies, he will go with them, and they will purchase.  The pay for labor came after the job was completed to my satisfaction.  Dave's weakness was in communicating his schedule.   I would use him again, knowing that I would work with him to set up the plan of action, times and when I wanted work accomplished. 

Couldn't tell you. He never came to do the work; nor did he call to say why. All in all, a simple phone stating that he couldn't do the work would have gone a long way to maintaining his reputation, which is shot now.

BASICALLY A TWO MAN COMPANY. THE SALES REP, GEORGE WAS VERY PATIENT GOING THROUGH THE DECK DESIGN. DID VERY PROFESSIONAL DRAWINGS. ENDED UP WITH A GOOD SIZED TREX (COMPOSITE) DECK AND STEPS. ALSO INSTALLED A PLASTIC RAILING SYSTEM I FOUND AT HARDWARE STORE. THE NICE THING WAS THAT I COULD PURCHASE THE DECK AND RAILING MATERIALS MYSELF AT A LOCAL LUMBERYARD/HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE. NO GOUGING ON MATERIALS. ALSO, THEY HANDLED THE BUILDING PERMIT PROCESS AND CALLING FOR INSPECTIONS. I GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT BY BEING FLEXIBLE WITH THE COMPLETION DEADLINE, I WAS GETTING A BETTER PRICE. (IT DID TAKE ABOUT 6 WEEKS TO GET EVERYTHING DONE. 3 HOURS HERE, 4 HOURS THERE.)
