The whole experience was pretty much a nighmare. Everything started out OK, although I was surprised that didn't show up on the first day of construction until around 9:30 in the morning. ( We expected them to come early in the morning.) That should have been a clue as to what to expect. The first few days were spent in digging a foundation and building the frame. But as we got farther into the project, they arrived later and later in the morning (there were only two workers), they would work an hour, take and hour break, work another hour, take an hour and a half for lunch, work another hour, and call it a day. If we got four hours of work in one day, we considered ourselves lucky. The neighbors commented that everytime they looked outside, the workers seemed to be taking a break. Some day they didn't show up at all. Things we thought we had agreed upon, were forever being changed. If we wanted it done another way, that would cost us more. The contractor chose the doors and windows he wanted to use, without consulting us and installed them. The roof leaked the first year after the project was completed. They came back once to fix it, but it didn't work. The patio they poured cracked within the first month, but they wouldn't fix it. (The one worker told me the cement wasn't mixed correctly but he thought it would be fine.) The patio was poured much lower than the existing yard, so now, everytime it rains, we have anywhere from 1/2 " to 1" of standing water on the porch floor. Oh yes, a porch was supposed to have been constructed, not a patio, but he said he never agreed to that, so it wasn't done. Since he didn't specifically mention it on the contract,(he only referred to it as a patio), we were stuck. My husband built the porch himself over the cracked patio. The wall cracked in the family room, and when we showed the contractor, he said it looked to him like we just banged something into the wall. He did not fix it. All in all, I would not recommend these people. What should have taken 6 to 8 weeks ended up taking over three months to complete. It would have taken even longer except that we demanded they get it finished before Christmas. If you hire these people, you do so at your own risk!
