He did a great job.  There was an immediate response.  He has a thermal detection unit, which was nice.  Others don’t have that type of equipment.  He explains things well and he is available to answer questions.

One year later, we cannot get the company to return our call or schedule an appointment for an annual inspection. Five phone calls to the office within the last 60 days ... Each time a guy in the Mt. Vernon office (who I do not find professional at all) takes my name and number and states that someone will return my call - and they don't. During my last call two weeks ago, I expressed my frustration that no one was returning my call and asked if I could simply get an annual inspection appointment on the calendar - even if it was months away - and the guy just said he'd try to "page" the owner and let him know. Still waiting.
Needless to say, I've given up on Helmick's and we will be seeking another provider for Termite protection service. Helmick's was quick to schedule our initial appointment and take $800 - but they misled up in belieiving that we would be able to extend our contract and service each year for $150 per year. There has been NO service after the sale.
I have a hunch that if I called and said I was a new customer with an infestation, they would be here tomorrow. I've concluded that they are quick to schedule initial contracts and infestations as that is where the money is - but they clearly do not live up to their promise of annual service extensions.

Response from Helmick's Exterminating Co
"The first week in may 2012 the Member called to set up her yearly. I answered the phone and told her that her yearly is not due until July and we would call her before we come out. She then called the 2nd week in May and I said it will be done in July and we will call 1st. She then called the 3rd and 4th week of May and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd week in June and I repeatedly told her that if she did not see swarmers or she did not see anything specific she was concerned with that we would do the yearly inspection when it was due in July. So July finally came and so did one of the worst storms in the history of Ohio and I did not have any electric for 12 days. So she called on July 4th at 8am and I answered the phone from a hotel because I could not live in my house. She was very upset that we had not called her back and I told her it was just now due at the end of the week.& we would schedule to do it the next day but she told me that she did not want my services anymore. I tried to talk to her but she was too upset to calm down. So she cancelled her contract before it was even due. Also, she said if a new customer called with a live infestation we would be there right away. Yes, that is true because they would have live termites eating their house. Other priorities would be customers whose yearly would be due in the current month they would call or if they would have swarmers. Or a hornet nest attacking their family or a yellow jacket nest invading their house because someone could die from this. Also there’s bed bug control that takes priority over yearly inspections because those insects feed on people. The good news is with or without the annual inspection the chemical we used to do the initial treatment is still protecting the house. That’s why we choose to use the best chemical on the market. We would still be glad to offer our services to the Member and we can still do the annual inspection and yearly renewal of the termite contract if she so wishes. Thank You, Richard Amore Owner"

It was not a complicated job.  The yellow jackets died, and no others ever came back.  The end result was good, and we would consider using their services again.  Their appearance wasn't the most professional, and they spilled some of the poison (a powder) on the siding and patio without cleaning it up.  That chore was left to us.
