"This has been a nightmare for us as well since we contracted this job with a chimney leak in the beginning. Prior to the new roof install we were advised that the chimney flashing was repaired and was still leaking. We installed a new Dimensional roof and re flashed the chimney, hopefully solving the problem. After a hard rain we were advised it was still leaking, so we tried plan B and re- flashed the chimney a second time, it leaked again. We had a third party re- flash the chimney because of this on going problem, and there install failed again. So we had local roofing professional try to solve again, it failed twice. We were getting no were with the same problem that the homeowner had from the beginning. After on going tries we contracted another installer to re-flash the chimney and inspect all the brickwork. After five tries and getting no were, we applied a masonry coating to the brickwork and re-flashed chimney again. The brick chimney needed to be replaced from the beginning and we are not in the masonry field. Further more what I do on the Christmas holidays and New Years is not my customers concern. We are truly sorry for our customer that this took so long to resolve."
"The roof that I replaced for (Member name removed) was a Lean-to on the side of an over 100 year old barn. The Lean-to must have been added after the barn was built. The wall flashings are nailed and glued to wood siding. It needs to be behind wood siding. The wood is in bad shape. My proposal does not include replacing flashing due to improper installation from the beginning. I have spoken with her in the past about this problem. It is not the roof leaking it is the rotten walls and old flashing. The area I repaired has no opening or penetrations. It is 28 gauge steel. I repaired just what she asked. The metal roof panels. When (Member name removed) replaces the siding then I will come and install new wall flashings free of charge. But not until the siding has been replaced. Even at that time I cannot guarantee a repair. The wood is very rotten. I find it hard to get her to return my phone calls as I have tried to phone her on April 7,8,9 and twice my office tried to reach her on April 10, 2015. We cannot resolve this if she does not return my phone messages. I am enclosing a copy of my proposal along with photos of this barn and Lean-to."
