Warm Spaces by Design LLC

After we bought a new home, the task of choosing paint colors for most of a 5 bed, 2.5 bath house was daunting. I would consider myself knowledgeable in terms of decorating, but this just felt too overwhelming and I wanted outside help.  I knew I wanted a palette of blues, greens and grays, but I wasn't sure which would flow well together, especially when grays and whites can be so tricky. I did some research and found 3 different color consultants in the Columbus area that had positive reviews.  Thankfully, I found Ali and Warm Spaces by Design.  From the beginning, Ali was very easy to talk to and schedule with.  She answered my original questions with detail, and was very friendly.  Once we met for the consultation, it was even more apparently that I had chosen wisely to hire her.  She spent about 3 hours at our new home.  First, she asked me to show her what I had originally been thinking about, and then she went from there.  She ended up choosing a few colors that I would have never thought of, but they turned out beautifully!  She gave me some advice when our painter gave some grief about using a certain product, and she even answered a question about a room we hadn't originally thought we'd paint several weeks after her consultation.  We are SO happy with our colors, and our house is exactly the calm, inviting space that I wanted it to be.  You will not be disappointed in choosing Ali to help you with one or two spaces in your house, or your entire house!  She's amazing at what she does, and is absolutely a joy to work with.  I would not hesitate one second to recommend her services!

Ali was simply fabulous!  She analyzed the space we wanted to spruce up and then asked questions about what we wanted to accomplish with it, what interests our kids had, what we did with the existing space, etc.  Then she gave us several ideas of how to best utilize the area to accomplish our goals.  She provided guidance on the types of furniture to use, how to section the area off with rugs, ideas for accessorizing and decorating, and how best to hang things on the walls for each section to ensure the room flowed correctly.  She gave several options of things we could do so we weren't tied to just one idea.  She really listened and took everything we had to say into account.  She also provided a lot of education about do's and dont's of decorating along the way, which was extremely helpful.
Ali also provided assistance with selecting the right paint color for our great room.  We thought we had already chosen the right color and when we asked for her opinion, she provided education on LRV (light reflective value) factors of colors and how that factor comes into play with the size of our walls and the amount of light that comes into the room.   She was never pushy or overbearing, but again asked what we were trying to accomplish with the room and then offered suggestions to achieve that.  We are so grateful for her knowledge and insight because we know now that we would have been very disappointed with the original color we had selected.  We went with one of her recommendations and our room turned out beautifully!
Since our great room is so large, it took several days for the painters to complete the job.  Part way through, I started panicking that we had selected the wrong color, as it wasn't looking like the large sample we had and I was feeling that it wasn't matching the carpet.  I emailed Ali in my frantic state, and she responded very quickly.  She asked me several questions in return and gave me some things to consider (e.g. where all the walls painted yet, as having a room with 2 different colors can skew how the new color will look once complete, did all walls have 2 coats of paint, etc).  Her comments quickly put my mind at ease and once the job was done, everything she said was spot on.  The end result was fabulous and we could not be happier.
I will definitely use Ali again and highly recommend her to anyone that needs any sort of design or decorating assistance.  She is very knowledgeable about what she does and it comes through in flying colors.

We had just bought an older home in a neighborhood that we loved and knew the first floor and kitchen were going to have to be completely remodeled.  We initially worked with our general contractor to design the new first floor and kitchen layout.  We thought we had the layout down but knew we could use some help putting together a plan for the design elements of the renovation (wall colors; materials selection for cabinets, countertops, backsplash; furniture, wall art and accessorizing the space, etc.).  We were completely gutting the first floor and wanted to make sure we got it right.  We spoke to too many people who had gone through a similar renovation and their most common regret was not working with a designer earlier in the process.  We wanted to learn from their mistakes. 
 
We met with several potential designers, but Ali was the obvious selection for us.  Other designers were more concerned about explaining how their pricing works, while Ali was really focused on us and the project.  Many claim to be ?customer focused? but Ali supports her words with actions.  She spent many nights and hours with us throughout the entire process.  We never felt rushed at any stage of the process.  Whatever it took; as long as it took.  We certainly felt that we pushed the limits at times but you could never tell with Ali.  You?re going to be spending a lot of time with your designer so it?s important that they have the right temperament to work with you through all the highs and lows that come with a project.  Not only is Ali good at her profession, she?s was a joy to work with.  She was amiable, adaptable and understanding. 
 
We never told Ali this but she paid for herself after her first couple visits.  I mentioned we thought we had our layout nailed down and were looking to Ali primarily for color and other design elements of the project.  We couldn?t have been more wrong about the layout as Ali soon convinced us.  How could we have got it so wrong, and how could she see something that was so beautifully possible in the space that we (and others) couldn?t?  Now that the project is complete, we often find ourselves talking about what it would be like if we had gone through with our initial design and quickly try to forget it.  The layout is perfect!  And the colors and materials she helped us select are beautiful.  We love to see the look on people?s faces when they first see it.  I?ve lost track of the number of times we?ve heard ?I can?t believe it?s the same house.?  Ali gave us a truly remarkable transformation.
 
When we thought about what we wanted out of our renovation, three things came to mind.  It should be highly functional and at the same time beautiful; it should be timeless in design (nothing too trendy); it should make you go WOW when you see it.  Ali delivered  100% of all three and then some.  We couldn?t be more proud of the space and we never pass on an opportunity to show it off.
