"[Member Name Removed], We apologize that we dropped the ball on this one. Thankfully the painting was done well. We accept the honest feedback and will use this experience as a learning lesson and strive to do better on our communication and customer service."
"Thank you for your repeat business [Member Name Removed]! We truly appreciate your loyalty. We look forward to working with you again on your next project."
"Thank you for your repeat business [Member Name Removed], and thank you for your patience with the rain outs. I did stop by a couple of times but I don't believe you were home. I should have tried to connect with you more by phone or at time of completion. I thank you for choosing us again and for recommending us to others."
The Good:
Workers were competent, worked diligently, and even closed the house down for us on two occasions when we had to leave the house before they were done; thus, they gained our trust.
Removal of the popcorn ceiling went very well -- they ventilated the room, used fans, closed doors and windows into the house interior, and the bedroom and bathroom to which they did such looks great! They even had to fix what a prior popcorn-ceiling-removing contractor botched in our downstairs hallway; they improved upon it and fixed it.
The paint lines between the walls and ceiling are flawless. They also painted 2 interior doors for me, plus sidelights. Precise work. Looks great!
We worked with 11 different colors in the house between ceilings, trim, doors, and 7 rooms. Communication must be exceptional in that case, and these guys were great about that all the time!
The "Bad":
On the first day, I was told they would arrive at 8:30a, but they arrived at 8a. I don't want a good deed to be punished, however the early arrival meant that I hadn't yet moved all the furniture I promised I would. I like to keep my promises. I got the furniture moved by 8:30a, and everything was fine.
They missed about 6 feet of floor trim in the kitchen. All of it is work I can and will do. It's not a beef because they also completed for me a door frame that wasn't in the contract, so it's a fair trade.
All-in-all, a solid "A" job.
The Sunlight team was Josh, Mike, and Nick. As they completed the painting work in the original contract, I showed Josh three other projects that involved carpentry. He accepted that work.
-- 1. Replacing exposed, decaying fascia, and painting it.
-- 2. Putting exterior plywood on the porch ceiling to replace drywall that would not hold paint.
-- 3. Replacing and painting the frame around a door, and using epoxy (?) to build up the part of the door sill that had rotted away.
This team has excellent carpentry skills in addition to their painting skills.
Josh communicated well with me, letting me know how the work was progressing. Particularly on the three add-on projects, he discussed options with me for how to do the work.
Sunlight did excellent work, and the team was a pleasure to work with.
Performed as agreed in all respects. Pricing was very good relative to several other quotes. Also had positive comments from neighbor they had done similar work for.
entire interior and the exterior wood trim of our house. Because of the size of the job it took the
crew (Brian, Chuck, James, Donnie and sometimes Aaron) 5+ days to complete the
project. They removed wallpaper from 3
walls and prepared all walls for paint. The guys arrived by 8AM daily and worked
diligently. Unfortunately, our heat pump (all electric house air
conditioner/furnace) decided to stop working on the hottest day of the year and
was not fixed until the painting job was finished. I felt bad for the guys but
they did not complain at all to me, they just kept working! Then on Friday the
electricity went out in the neighborhood which made it necessary to work on
Saturday to finish the project. The crew was professional in spite of the
challenges. They cleaned up every
afternoon to make it possible to ?live? in the house in the evening. On
Saturday, before they left the woodwork was wiped and rooms vacuumed. The only ?bump? was the communication with
Aaron at the beginning. I paid the deposit in May but did not want the house
painted until July. I waited to hear from him to say he had received the
deposit and set a date for painting. I
finally called him. He was waiting to set the schedule which was dependent on
the weather. Everything came together
and I am very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend this company. Thank you Sunlight Housepainting!
From what understand after beginning the project, they informed my wife they needed to increase the price by 50% due to additional work removing the old stain.
Here's where I have a problem. When a contractor gives you a written estimate and he is fully aware of what is required, he should not be calling my wife and requiring a increase of 50% for the amount of the job after the start of the job. No change orders were issued, we informed him what was required, and we supplied the materials. Thats not a good way to do business.
The crew that did the work was ok, however I thought they had 1 man too much. They left our hose out with out reeling it back in, had to be told to fix some issues before they left, and they possibly left stain on the siding. ("Possible" because maybe the previous stain job may have left some stain on the job. But it still seems like more stain is on the siding this time).
To conclude, if they had not upped the cost of the re-stain job to the equivalent of 64% of a previous whole house interior paint job that included materials I would not be so displeased.
"[member name removed], I apologize for the misunderstanding, but the contract stated that any actual striping of the failing coating was going to be done at a rate of $25 per hour which I stated would be approx 3-6 man hours. The power washing and staining of the deck was the original price of the $300. We always try to put everything up front in writing on the contract so that there are no surprises. As for the hose being left out and some stain on the siding, those would be things easily addressed by a phone call to me."
I would highly recommend this company-it is hard to find companies these days to preform quality work at a fair price-Sunlight House Painting is definitely "OLD SCHOOL" they work hard and do an amazing job! Thanks Guys!?
Will call them again!
