Although the actual painting was done well, the amount of time I had to wait for the services was unacceptable. He requires a deposit to "get on the schedule" but after putting a deposit in December to get on the schedule in the spring, it took MANY phone calls (that were not returned) to finally get the job completed in the summer. Interior work, repair and painting ceiling, was another series of "hurry up and wait." Wanted signed contract with deposit and then another 3 months until job was completed. I was MORE than patient.

Went well overall. Didn't see the owner at all during the job which would have been a nice touch given the amount of money you are spending. Couple of other small issues but nothing to be overly concerned about and they were taken care of when I mentioned them to the crew. Weather was a devil to work around but they had inside work nearby to perform which was good. This is the second time Sunlight has done our house and I would recommend.

"Thank you for your repeat business [Member Name Removed], and thank you for your patience with the rain outs. I did stop by a couple of times but I don't believe you were home. I should have tried to connect with you more by phone or at time of completion. I thank you for choosing us again and for recommending us to others."

Excellent. I waited to write this review until I saw how the work held up. Four previous paint jobs all started to have cracking and peeling issues after a year. The work done was excellent, the crew was excellent - professional and knowledgeable. After a year and a half, the paint is still in excellent shape. I can spray it and dirt washes off, no signs of cracking or peeling. The quoting process went extremely well, Aaron pointed out several issues I had not noticed, and made plans to correct them. One example - carpenter bees had drilled dozens of holes in the roof of a shed. Sunlight fixed all the holes and repainted with a high quality paint the bees don't seem to be able to chew through so easily. I have only seen one hole since (from the hatching of one inside I suspect). Other services included painting house and garage doors and gutters. I will definitely use Sunlight again, and recommend them highly.

It went extremely well. Aaron, the owner, was great to work with. Aaron communicated frequently with me. He was very professional. My wife and I liked the fact that Aaron's estimate included a consultation with Sherwin Williams in order to choose our colors. Prior to painting the house, they came out and pressure washed it. All windows and screens were masked with tape and paper, they did a very neat job. They sanded, primed, and painted, and the entire job was completed in 2 days.

The quality of both the painting and the siding repair was excellent.  There was one glitch where our new patio door wasn't covered with a tarp and got spattered with paint.  Unfortunately, instead of using a single edge razor to remove the paint from the glass, they used a paint scraper which scratched the glass.  Regardless, Sunlight paid to have the glass replaced with no contesting, which was extremely admirable on their part.  They are the go-to company for us to do exterior painting, and if we encounter any additional siding that needs replacing.

These guys were very good to work with, strong in communication, and were pretty diligent in their work. 2-3 workers were here for an entire work week, from 8a to 4p or so every day.
The Good:
Workers were competent, worked diligently, and even closed the house down for us on two occasions when we had to leave the house before they were done; thus, they gained our trust.
Removal of the popcorn ceiling went very well -- they ventilated the room, used fans, closed doors and windows into the house interior, and the bedroom and bathroom to which they did such looks great!  They even had to fix what a prior popcorn-ceiling-removing contractor botched in our downstairs hallway; they improved upon it and fixed it.
The paint lines between the walls and ceiling are flawless.  They also painted 2 interior doors for me, plus sidelights. Precise work.  Looks great!
We worked with 11 different colors in the house between ceilings, trim, doors, and 7 rooms.  Communication must be exceptional in that case, and these guys were great about that all the time!
The "Bad":
On the first day, I was told they would arrive at 8:30a, but they arrived at 8a.  I don't want a good deed to be punished, however the early arrival meant that I hadn't yet moved all the furniture I promised I would.  I like to keep my promises.  I got the furniture moved by 8:30a, and everything was fine.
They missed about 6 feet of floor trim in the kitchen.  All of it is work I can and will do.  It's not a beef because they also completed for me a door frame that wasn't in the contract, so it's a fair trade.
All-in-all, a solid "A" job.

In coordination with the gutter contractor, Sunlight removed the old gutters and re-painted the fascia so that when the gutter contractor team arrived, it could immediately install the replacement gutters.  The gutter contractor, Professional Gutter and Drain, has worked with Sunlight before on such projects.  They coordinated well.
The Sunlight team was Josh, Mike, and Nick.  As they completed the painting work in the original contract, I showed Josh three other projects that involved carpentry.  He accepted that work.

-- 1.  Replacing exposed, decaying fascia, and painting it.
-- 2.  Putting exterior plywood on the porch ceiling to replace drywall that would not hold paint.
-- 3.  Replacing and painting the frame around a door, and using epoxy (?) to build up the part of the door sill that had rotted away.

This team has excellent carpentry skills in addition to their painting skills.
Josh communicated well with me, letting me know how the work was progressing.  Particularly on the three add-on projects, he discussed options with me for how to do the work.
Sunlight did excellent work, and the team was a pleasure to work with.

Performed as agreed in all respects.  Pricing was very good relative to several other quotes.  Also had positive comments from neighbor they had done similar work for.

They did a great job. Erin is a really nice guy. They were very neat. They cleaned up after themselves everyday. I would use them again if I was in the need. We made an appointment, they came out, gave us the estimate and we decided to go with them, and he did it and he did a good job. I recommended him to my neighbor. Their pricing was competitive with other painters. I thought it was a fair price for what they did. They were very responsive.

Everything went very well.  They had an extensive crew, and it only took them 4 days.  They were very clean, leaving no paint on the sidewalks or where it was not supposed to be.  They did not damage the landscaping at all.  As far as the quality of the work and their work ethic, I am satisfied.  But, I have yet to receive any follow up from the owner who originally talked to me.

Sunlight painting did a fantastic job recently painting our home's exterior. Everyone was extremely thorough, professional, and meticulous in every way. They did things that other painting companies we've used had never done. I would highly recommend them and use them again.

Got three estimates, was priced slightly below the others. Aaron was very cordial and professional. Was promptly on time each of the two days his crew worked. We had many, many nail pops, bad spots on the walls from cracked drywall finishing, especially around nooks and corners and they repaired all of them. The walls look like they were newly put up after all of the defects were smoothed out.  Just a great professional job which exceeded our expectations. We were very pleased with Sunlight and will use them again and we highly recommend them.

This is the second time I've used Sunlight.  The owner, Aaron  responds promptly to all inquiries.  The 3 man crew showed up on time and did a great job.  They took down the blinds that I couldn't get to and painted the window frames, then rehung the blinds. They cleaned up too.

Sunlight Housepainting did an exceptional job painting the
entire interior and the exterior wood trim of our house.  Because of the size of the job it took the
crew (Brian, Chuck, James, Donnie and sometimes Aaron) 5+ days to complete the
project.  They removed wallpaper from 3
walls and prepared all walls for paint. The guys arrived by 8AM daily and worked
diligently. Unfortunately, our heat pump (all electric house air
conditioner/furnace) decided to stop working on the hottest day of the year and
was not fixed until the painting job was finished. I felt bad for the guys but
they did not complain at all to me, they just kept working! Then on Friday the
electricity went out in the neighborhood which made it necessary to work on
Saturday to finish the project. The crew was professional in spite of the
challenges.  They cleaned up every
afternoon to make it possible to ?live? in the house in the evening. On
Saturday, before they left the woodwork was wiped and rooms vacuumed.  The only ?bump? was the communication with
Aaron at the beginning. I paid the deposit in May but did not want the house
painted until July. I waited to hear from him to say he had received the
deposit and set a date for painting.  I
finally called him. He was waiting to set the schedule which was dependent on
the weather.  Everything came together
and I am very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend this company. Thank you Sunlight Housepainting!

Aaron is very professional, and his estimate was the best we received.  He sent an excellent crew who were did a great job scraping the peeling paint on the wood trim, as well as all the other prep work.  Each day they thoroughly cleaned up before they left. We were very pleased with the final results.  One minor area of wood trim peeled within six months, and Aaron came himself to redo it. Two years later, we've had no problems and the paint job still looks great.

Sunlight has done a excellent job in the past with regards to Interior Painting. We asked they re-stain our deck. We were provided a written estimate. We supplied the stain and stripping materials if required. We were flexible on what they could complete the job.
From what understand after beginning the project, they informed my wife they needed to increase the price by 50% due to additional work removing the old stain.
Here's where I have a problem. When a contractor gives you a written estimate and he is fully aware of what is required, he should not be calling my wife and requiring a increase of 50% for the amount of the job after the start of the job. No change orders were issued, we informed him what was required, and we supplied the materials. Thats not a good way to do business.
The crew that did the work was ok, however I thought they had 1 man too much. They left our hose out with out reeling it back in, had to be told to fix some issues before they left, and they possibly left stain on the siding. ("Possible" because maybe the previous stain job may have left some stain on the job. But it still seems like more stain is on the siding this time).
To conclude, if they had not upped the cost of the re-stain job to the equivalent of 64% of a previous whole house interior paint job that included materials I would not be so displeased.
Response from Sunlight Housepainting
"[member name removed], I apologize for the misunderstanding, but the contract stated that any actual striping of the failing coating was going to be done at a rate of $25 per hour which I stated would be approx 3-6 man hours. The power washing and staining of the deck was the original price of the $300. We always try to put everything up front in writing on the contract so that there are no surprises. As for the hose being left out and some stain on the siding, those would be things easily addressed by a phone call to me."

I would like to thank Aaron, the owner, for his understanding and patience. It took an extended period of time to choose the correct color combination for the exterior of our home. Aaron did extra work on our cedar trim when he noticed it needed replacing. The crew that worked on the painting project was awesome! Josh was even more particular than I would have been and I am super picky. I was informed each day as to what would take place and asked questions on specific areas.
I would highly recommend this company-it is hard to find companies these days to preform quality work at a fair price-Sunlight House Painting is definitely "OLD SCHOOL" they work hard and do an amazing job! Thanks Guys!?

I must begin by stating my husband and I are extremely meticulous and hold our hired help to the same standards. In our 30 years of hiring, this is the first company that lived up to our expectations based on their own standards. From the moment I met Aaron, I was impressed with his professionalism, attention to detail and willingness to provide advice based on his vast experience. We had the majority of our 'new build' interior painted (including ceilings) and couldn't be happier with the results. The team was punctual, always professional, polite and just a pleasure to work with. All areas of the home were protected, with all moldings being taped and caulked. And even in the midst of me changing paint colors at the last minute, Aaron was very cordial and sincerely wanted me to be happy with the results. Sunlight Painting will be hired for all our painting needs and we would recommend them to anyone seeking interior or exterior painting in the future.
