Mike met with us to gather the details of the work that we wanted. Then provided a proposal and cost. We were recommended to Mike as having very high quality and the ability to do additions so that it appears to be part of the original home.
Mike has a number of subs and direct employees. All are very professional and excellent tradesman. Every day would start with laying down tarps or work to minimize dust and dirt in our home. At the end of the day they would clean up and leave everything clean and orderly. The workers were all friendly, courteous, hard working and knowledgeable.
They were willing to work with me so that I could save some cost by doing the painting and electrical myself. This was an additional burden to coordinate work so that there were no delays with inspections or other subs.
Since the screen porch had a potion below grade normal footers for an addition were added with concrete block at the base of the walls. Pressure treated lumber was used for the knee wall and in the posts holding up the roof. The knee wall had stucco inside and out (just like our existing home with matching color). The posts and exposed wood were covered with cedar to match the front of the house. The only exception was at the base of screen window opening where a plastic wood material was used to eliminate rot. The plastic and cedar all have the same color paint so it isn't obvious that another material was used.
The ceiling was a beautiful bead board that has a very light color stain. The same siding as the front of the house was used in the peaks of the vaulted ceiling. This gave a nice exterior effect.
In the family room the sky lights were removed and can lights added. The ceiling had an unusual swirl pattern (it is used through the whole house). They were able to match it so that it is rather difficult to imagine that the room ever had skylights. A new side window was added to increase the light in the room. This was a custom Anderson window (to match the rest of the house) . The door from the Family room to the screen porch was enlarged to help traffic.
Our friends and neighbors agree that the new screen porch is a great gathering place and looks really nice. Most don't remember what the family room looked like (so the changes all look very natural).
Mike did a great job with the project and the details. It was obvious as the work was done that the quality people and materials were used to provide a quality end product. Through out the project the workers were respectful and courteous.
The cost was high and I added to it with changes (insulation or windows where we didn't have them originally). My only frustration was the incidental costs that were added (the original estimate was missing a screen door cost or $150 to stucco so that the concrete block didn't show).

This is my third project with Mike Cheeseman.  All of them large like this one.  Extremely professional, competent and responsible.  If I had anything more to remodel, I would not contact any other remodeler.  For example, you cannot tell the difference between the new wood floor in the two remodeled rooms and the 20 year old floor wood floor in the kitchen.

A home inspection report revealed extensive water damage in the crawl space and around the front door and the rear sliding glass door.  Wood  around front door frame was rotted and wafer board under the flooring in the front door area was soft and beginning to disintegrate.  The kick board and wafer board in crawl space under the flooring by the rear door was rotted and disintegrating.  This was discovered after the inspector pulled back some insulation, or we might never have discovered it.  Mike  discovered my front porch didn't slant away from the house so water was seeping into the crawl space for the past 8 years.  When a concrete company couldn't get there in a timely manner to replace my porch, Mike asked me about using a material applied to the porch to elevate the area by the front door and laying glazed porcelain tile on porch and step.  I agreed and am so glad I did.  It looks fabulous!  They also used flashing around the porch as it meets the house to keep water out; just like in a shower in a house.  Also, both areas have been severely tested with some recent torrential downpours and storms and there is no water leaking in anywhere!!!  I keep checking, but all is well!!!  Each day they carefullly laid any pieces of siding or any material they removed off to the side, cleaned up after themselves so that I couldn't even tell they had been working there.  They reinstalled the front porch light after replacing the rotted wood and repainted anything that needed painting in that area.  Amazing!  These guys are very polite and respectful.  You can't go wrong with them.  They listened to my concerns and worked hard.  

Before they started the installation, I called 20 times asking questions as I wanted to make sure I was making the correct choice on the flooring. They never treated me as if I were an annoyance, although I know I was. They answered the questions without hesitation. Arrived early every day and got right to work. The gentlemen working on the floor all were professional and courteous. Left every day and I wouldn't have known they had been there other than their was more flooring complete - cleaned up everything. The installation of the flooring is excellent. Small things they did made the extra charge well worth it. Couldn't have been more pleased. I would highly recommend!

WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BIG MESS ON THIS PROJECT AND MAKE CAME OUT WITH ONE DAYS NOTCIE TO HELP US.

CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES . THEY TREAT YOUR HOUSE LIKE THERE OWN. I ALWAYS USE THEM ANY TIME I NEED SOMETHING DONE. ITS LIKE YOU BECOME APART OF THERE FAMILY.
