Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!!! Curtis, the owner of Superior Cabinets, painted the cabinets. He verbally claims that he provides a "factory finish" and on his website he states he offers “a permanent and durable option to brand new cabinetry". After getting quotes from several other companies, I opted to pay DOUBLE the other quotes to have a "permanent" solution. The paint started chipping off within 3 months. Curtis was contacted immediately. He requested pictures so I sent him several. He did not respond. I was out of town so I didn’t contact him again until several months later, and again, he did not respond. I finally called a girl I knew in his office that eventually got Curtis to answer. Curtis set up a date to "touch up" the problems another month out. When he arrived, he couldn't believe how many cabinets were involved, and agreed that the problem was much worse than he anticipated. Rather than accept responsibility for a poor finish, he attempted to push blame on me saying I must be rough on the cabinets (a single woman who eats out most of the time), then the craziest explanation, that my dogs’ fluffy wagging tails hitting the lower cabinets were the cause for the cabinets failing. Of course the dogs tails couldn’t reach the upper cabinets so he could find no one further to blame. He later admitted that he had a worker that "didn't put enough elbow grease" into the finish and he had to fire him so he was no longer working for the company. Rather than taking the cabinets back to the shop to have them fixed right away he left claiming he didn't have room in his schedule and would have to work me in. I waited 4 more months before he came back to pick them up. Curtis was constantly changing his stories. After telling me he would strip the cabinets with a "great new machine" he purchased, he instead decided he wanted to make new doors and scrap the old doors, which were custom made. Not only was I concerned about getting a lower quality door, but also, Curtis was only willing to do the lower the cabinet doors, no uppers. I told him that was not acceptable. So he took the current doors and claimed he would put in his best "sanding" efforts. I asked if he could please have them back before the Easter holiday when I was expecting company, but he kept them for almost three weeks without regard to my request. Curtis only works on his timeframe with no consideration for his customers. When he finally finished the re-paint, he called at 4:00 PM on a Wednesday afternoon saying he was going to bring the doors back the next morning. I told him that I had a full day of appointments and with such late notice, I asked if we could pick another day. He was uncooperative. So I told him I would rearrange my meetings and I simply asked that he please come early in the morning so I could still make my afternoon appointments. When he waivered, I knew he would make no effort. I quickly rushed to cancel my next day appointments before everyone left work at 5 pm. Curtis did not show up until 11 AM the next morning. The final blow came on the day Curtis came to install the cabinet doors. After getting the doors on, he claimed he was going to "lunch" (around 2 pm) and while he was out, he would pick up the cabinet handles that he could not locate and thought he left at his shop. Needless to say, Curtis never came back. I sent him several text messages and called his phone requesting his status that he never acknowledged. He never finished the job and it is clear he never intends to finish it. I found the cabinet handles under the sink, which earlier in the day is where he said he normally left them. Though he was not returning texts or calls, I let him know the handles were at the house. I asked when he could re-schedule to complete the job because the upper cabinets still needed touchup work in addition to the installation of the cabinet handles. Again, no responses. I decided to put the handles on myself. Though the handles were all in a bag, none of the associated screws were. These were special screws used for the custom cabinet doors. Standard screws for cabinet handles would not work. I had to order screws then do all the installation on my own. In doing so, I discovered that Curtis did not put the cabinet doors back on correctly and had stripped so many of the holes that he did not put all the screws back in to hold the doors in place. I had the choice of manually removing all the cabinet doors to re-adjust them, or drilling new holes. I chose the latter. It took a full day to complete the handle installation and door adjustments. The touch up work is not yet done. Curtis charges double the price to provide a "factory finish", however the finish did not hold up for even 3 months. His service is horrendous as evidenced by having to wait almost a full year between the time he was notified of the problems to the time he brought back the re-worked cabinet doors. He behaves unprofessionally by "ghosting" customers instead of providing warranty service as outlined in his contract. I highly suggest people do not hire this company.
