"At Premium Sealcoat we alway strive to provide the best service as possible and to convey properly what should be expected from our service. We tried to convey to you that the condition of the parking lot was so poor that sealcoating would do little to help it and would really only improve the appearance. The parking lot had several areas that where so badly deteriorated that they were just gravel. We did not quote or agree to replace asphalt in those areas. Sealer will not "fill" the surface of your parking lot. Sealer will seal the surface. This parking lot was deteriorated to the point that it needs to be replaced. This was something we tried to make clear before we came out. You decided that you understood the sealcoat would not give you a new parking lot and that you wanted to go ahead and seal it anyway. We are very sorry we did not communicate better to you what sealcoating can provide and what it cannot."
This year I had sold my house and no longer lived there. The current owner used the flyer received in the mail and set up an appt. with Premium Seal Coat (the estimate on the flyer is $240, or $235 if done by a certain day). The company not only charged my credit card for the seal coat, but upcharged the service an additional $80 over the estimated amount on the flyer. They did not get permission for the additional work from me. On May 22, somebody from Premium Seal Coat called and left a message on my cell saying additional materials were needed that would cost $80 and to call back and give permission for the additional work. I didn't speak to her,or call her back, however the $80 was added and the total charged on my credit card was $315.
I called the company when I saw the charge on my credit card. The receptionist Becky apologized and said she'd send a check, but never did. She also refused to give me the owner's last name, which I thought was odd, especially because it can be found here on Angie's list.
I contacted my credit card company. Premium Seal Coat refused to reverse the $315 charge. Premium Seal Coat continued to insist I owed the money, including the $80 upcharge. The new owner of my old house got involved in August and paid the company the full amount for the service. I again disputed the charge through my credit card, and Premium Seal Coat CONTINUED to refuse to reverse the charge. At that point, they had been paid twice, by me in May, and by the new owner in August.
Finally, I went again to the new owner of my old house and got the receipt that Premium Seal Coat themselves had given the new owner showing the service was paid by her. I presented this receipt through the credit card company, AND THEN Premium Seal Coat reversed the charge. A few days after I posted this review, the owner called and left a voice message saying she will sue for slander if I don't remove it.
After the review was published they called to say they meant to come out to repair but had been busy. Maybe. In any case, we did schedule a return and they did put down a second coat. Weather this time was perfect for sealing.
I would say if I was to use them again in the future, I would be very insistent on the weather being sunny for a day after the sealing.Even if they felt it was OK to do it, I would use my own judgement and cancel the appt if it looked like rain. If weather is good then they are fine and put down a nice seal job for a reasonable fee.
I would probably forego any additional charges for "patching" and "high end" crack sealer they offer. The cartridge crack filler I used from Lowes does a better job than the liquid they use, in my opinion.
"I am very sorry for the issue that you had with rain & the garage door, I was not aware of the situation. I will give you a call in the morning to see if there is anything we can do."
