So far Tom Isaacs has patiently discussed exactly what our needs were for an entertainment center we have ordered to be custom built there. He listened carefully and showed us different items that were similar. He and his son, who makes the furniture, explained various aspects of their construction. He tried to save us money by showing us items that had already been made that might suit our needs, coming up with some really good options. He offered great ideas regarding our project, and was willing to calculate and recalculate different options. He has been quite patient with our many phone calls, even continuing to get back to us with information after his normal closing time. In the end we decided to order a custom built unit to get just the right size. We had ordered other pieces from him several years ago that look great - just as good as when they were new - so we know what to expect. I wanted to post this review even before we have the item while I still remember how great these people were to work with in the planning process.

I wanted to build a dresser for my grandson, and I wanted it to be done well. So I contacted Isaac's Shaker Hill about cutting out the main structure of the dresser and then I would build the piece and then bring it back to them for the sprayed lacquer finish. The kit they made allowed me to install two hidden drawers that now house an iPod and controls for the speakers that are mounted under the dresser. Once I finished the piece, I took it bad to Isaac's to have the finish applied...it came out beautiful. My kids were so thrilled once I delivered the dresser, that they are now asking for Grandpa to make more.

Simply outstanding craftsmanship. My wife and I came to Tom with a basic design in mind. Tom made suggestions and made a drawing of how it would look. The finished product was perfect. We still comment regularly on what a fine piece of furniture it is. We looked at a lot of bookcases, including many in Amish furniture stores, before coming to Isaacs' Shaker Hill. There is absolutely no comparison. The Amish make fine furniture, but this is just in a different league altogether. This is a showcase piece that we will be able to pass down to our children and they to theirs.
