The original Proposal was similar to other companies, and the owner was good to deal with. However, once work began, I felt I was oversold on the amount of deterioration, then over-priced for the work performed. Attention to detail was lacking (caulking and painting).
Response from Ravlins Roofing & Painting
"I was paid $11,800 for work performed on estimate. I gave [Member Name Removed] a credit of $400 dollars for left over material which I didn’t have to do. The wood chimney was rotted really bad so [Member Name Removed] hired my siding men instead of me to deal with that and other areas around the house I’m sorry [Member Name Removed] didn’t deal with me direct. Contracted for painting interior rooms in May. Was scheduled for early July. After not hearing from them by mid-July, had to call, was tentatively re-"scheduled" for late July. After not hearing from them by late-July, had to call, was rescheduled for early August. When they did show up on the scheduled day, a few hours late, it wasn't Ravlin's people, but rather a subcontractor (three people) who showed up in an unmarked sedan with painting supplies. All except the paint, which they had to go out and buy. Ooohhh kaaay.....
They did do a pretty good job fixing minor wall imperfections (nail pops, dents, etc.). A less-than-minor wall imperfection (dog scratches) wasn't repaired so well and then it was just painted over. I'll have to redo that myself. Otherwise, painting of a couple large rooms was very well done and completed all on one day. Slopped a little on yet-to-be-finished floors, but no big deal. Unfortunately, they tracked a few spots of wet paint onto carpeted areas.
In Ravlin's defense, ours was a small job, under $1000, and it's been a very wet summer that's likely put them behind on their more lucrative/larger outside jobs. I understand these types of delays and ours was not a super time-sensitive job, we were in no big hurry. However, if you tell someone you're going to show up on a certain day, at least have the courtesy/sense to call and tell me you can't make it. We work and have to adjust our schedules around these jobs. A neighbor reports that over the past year +, they've been told on a number of times by Ravlin staff that they'd be back to do some minor outside repair work to finish up a large outside painting job. Ravlin's never shown up and the neighbor has given up.
We've used Ravlin and dealt directly with founder Greg over the years for a number of large outside painting/roofing/siding/gutter projects and they've always done a wonderful job. However, now that they've grown so much, now apparently with a second location, it appears they've gotten a little too big for their britches, with a "staff" and apparently more work than they can handle so that they need to bring in subs, and customer service and reliability has suffered. Sad, really - Ravlin's used to be top notch. In a pinch, I would hire them again - their work is still high-quality.

They told us that the paint was bonded on but now you can see where the paint is gone and could possibly rust.

I contacted Ravlins and I think I spoke to the owner. I read him the list of repairs requested by the buyer and he knew exactly what was needed. He also had previously worked with both realtors, which is a big plus that they can trust the work was done right. He sent out an employee a within a week on the first nice day we had. The worker was on the roof for about 20 minutes and he was done.

They were all very prompt and courteous. Mr. Ravlin and his partner both gave us clear written estimates for the work to be done. They divided the jobs into three sections and we paid for each job after it was done and they were sure we were satisfied with the work. All of the workers were prompt and gave a full days work. They were very conscientious and cleaned up after every job. We are extremely happy with all of the work done. The house looks fantastic. Mr. Ravelin checked every job. Every one was very professional. We are having them replace our roof next summer. We would definitely recommend this company to everyone.

We had new gutters and downspouts installed and some wood replaced due to water damage on the front of the house. When all work was finished we wanted to change the color of the soffits and trim of our brick home. We called 3 painting contractors all of whom had been recommended by numerous friends. We were very disappointed in the high quotes we received - particularly given the wood on our house was in great shape and needed little preparation. We had almost given up on the idea and thought we would climb up on a ladder, prime the small amount of new wood and paint it ourselves. We returned home after a weekend trip and found a business card in our front door for Ravlin Roofing and Painting. We decided to call and boy are we glad we did. Clyde (the owner) visited us just a day or so later and we were sold. He measured the house, explained what they would do (power wash, caulk all cracks big enough for a credit card to be inserted and paint with Sherwin Williams high grade paint). He said we had the option of having a second coat put on for longevity, but didn't think we really needed it. That would have cost us $750 more. (Side note: when the supervisor for the painters came the first day, he confirmed, no we did not need a second coat. We did opt for 2 coats on the new wood on the front of the house.) After calling 3 references provided by Ravlin - all were glowing - checking BBB and Angie's List we engaged them to do the work. Within just a day or so, power washing was completed, the next day all the caulking was done and the next 2 days we were being painted. The 2 young men that actually did the painting did an outstanding job. They were very polite, cleaned up each day and were careful around our landscaping. We could not have been more pleased.

Ravlin's Roofing and Painting did a wonderful job in my home. I called several painters and they were the first to respond. Joe came to our new home and went over every detail. They started that week and I was thrilled with the results. The painters were polite and paid attention to detail. Very impressed, which is not something I say often.

I like everything about this company, they showed up on time, they were very professional and pleasant. They got the job done in a timely manner. They cleaned up after themselves. We were not given the bill until all the work was finished. I would recommend them.

Ravlin Roofing and the owner Greg were as responsive as you could ask for during a recent roof project on an apartment building that we own. Ravlin was one of 5 contractors that we contacted for estimates. First estimate received was from Ravlin. It was also the most thorough written estimate, as well as the lowest. In reviewing estimates for roofing projects, it is very important to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples. Ravlin's detailed estimate helped with that process and provided thorough information on the true cost of the project. Based on our comparison as well as reviews from Angie's List, we contracted with Ravlin for the project. To our surprise, Greg contacted us the day after contract award (!) and said that his crew would be available to install the new roof the next day. He scheduled a meeting at 8:30 am at the site, and when I arrived a very professional looking crew of 6 people had already arrived. By 5:30 that afternoon, the job was complete, and my property looked great. No requirement for up front funding. Received lots of feedback from Greg during the project. I highly recommend Ravlin for roofing projects.

I used Ravlin's Roofing for roof inspections/estimates during my home buying experience (highly recommended by realtor). He ended up replacing the roof on the property I purchased before the sale. After some storm damage this winter, I knew who to call. Mr. Ravlin promptly returned my call, made it out to my house within 24 hours of our conversation, and prepared an estimated the following day. I also expanded the storm damage repairs to include a few outstanding gutter and siding issues. Mr. Ravlin had no problem including the work. He and his folks spent a couple of afternoons making the repairs and matched the existing paint job perfectly. Very happy with the results and I have total confidence in the quality of the work. It was also a nice surprise to find my final bill slightly lower (~$25) than the estimate. I'll be calling Ravlin's Roofing first for any future siding, gutter, or roofing needs.

Excellent. We have used Ravlin's before, on a much smaller job, and we gave this job to them based on their performance on the smaller job. Based on the work done for us on our roof, we will definitely use them again.

From the first inquiry to finish, I experienced nothing but professionalism, quality and excellence. No detail was left out when Clyde, salesman, came to my house to give me an estimate. The crew, Edison, Abraham, Luis and Jose were absolutely great. They worked well together, cleaned up beyond my expectations and did an exceptional job. They put everything back the way it was including my landscaping lights and even cleaned up the leaves that were in my flower beds. Mr Ravlins takes his business seriously and goes beyond making the customer satisfied. He is truly interested in making sure everything is right and done well to the most minute detail.
I highly recommend this company above all others. I have had other companies do work on my house and nothing compares to the level of satisfaction and expertise I experienced with Ravlins. They go above and beyond!
Thank you to all of them!

Overall a first-class job ............. crew worked 5 days with some rain interruption. They were on the job at the break of dawn and
worked until dark each of the full days (last day finished ~ 3:00 PM). One day I had to force them off the roof due to total darkness.
I judged them to be very conscientious; no wasted time. We communicated well. As the work progressed, we found areas under the old
roof and also areas where the roof and siding were joined that needed repaired/replaced. The roofing crew took the initiative in all
cases to correct the situations. There was a significant leak around the fireplace chimney thru the ceiling into the living room. I showed
the crew leader the problem inside and he did a great job shaping, installing, and caulking new flashing. One of the men spent half of
the 4th day and all of the 5th day cleaning the perimeter of the house of pieces of roofing paper and old roofing nails from the yard
and flower beds - a very thorough effort. I judged the performance of the roofing crew to be excellent. I am very satisfied with the
results.
As we remember, there was extensive roof damage as a result of late Spring weather in the Dayton area. We were slammed with
"storm chasers" from out of state and had to wait in line for roof repair if we wanted to use quality local contractors. The frustration I
encountered was not the "waiting in line" but the difficulty in getting the salesman to keep me informed of the timing and even getting
him to return calls. I know they were very busy, but from 45 years of work experience there is absolutely no excuse for not returning
calls in some timely manner.
I would recommend Ravlin as a quality contractor. I will use them for siding replacement and exterior painting.

The owner, Greg Ravlin, responded in person within one day of our inquiry. He gave us a proposal, described his procedures, showed us roof tile options and made appropriate recommendations. He was recommended by friends and work colleagues, three people in all, so we accepted his proposal. He began the work soon after and completed the entire project within three days. His crew was careful of landscaping, cleaned carefully and was generally efficient and courteous. He included a new, matching roof on our small equipment shed. and a minor repair to a roof edge. I found Mr. Ravlin and his crew, helpful, courteous, professional, and proud of their work. I will go back to them the next time I need roofing or siding services.

First they piled so much rubble on the existing roof that they completely severed my DirecTV line and we were without television for one week. Then after the roof was completed the very next morning there was water pouring into my bathroom through the new roof. They also told me a board would be installed over some new flashing and not until 2 months and several phone calls later did they finally install the board with very poor workmanship. There are areas with so many shingles that it causes humps in the valleys of the roof. My gutter installer told me so many things about the roof that were done wrong, and just this past weekend the roofing crew on my neighbors house told me how "crooked" my roof was installed. I will be calling my insurance company out to inspect the roof as I cannot tell how good of a job they did, but I would not be shocked if it turns out to be a poor job. One other thing, they told me they would perform the work within the scope of the original insurance company estimate of $15,000, however when the job was complete (actually several months after) the roofers submitted a claim for my roof for over $26,000!! I didn't even know about it until my insurance company made me aware of the claim, and I, the homeowner, am supposed to approve all charges per the contract the roofers signed with me. I could go on and on but bottom line is STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

All of our contact with Ravlin Roofing was with the owner, Greg Ravlin. He was speedy providing an estimate (within 48 hours) and he was clear in his explanations and commitments. He was professional and attentive before and during the work. The actual work was very fast, less than two full days, and caused little disruption to our routines. They left the site clean and the quality of materials and workmanship is better than what they replaced. We learned of Ravlin Roofing from two different friends, one of whom borders on compulsive in researching trade services. Both gave enthusiastic recommendations and we were not disappointed. I will return to Ravlin if I need roofing services in the future.
