General Remodeling
Eagle Ridge has caused my project to be delayed due to thier actions. They have cut up numerous areas of the duct system and left me a pile of jagged sheet metal ductwork in my basement. there are a number of heat runs going up through the framing that are not connected. I have had to seek out another HVAC contractor and hire that contractor to repair the damage done by Eagle Ridge to my duct system as well as complete the system. The contractor I hired performed an exhaustive heating/cooling loss/gain analysis of my home and provided a detailed solution with pricing before commencing any work. Incidentally, the new contractor did not charge anything for the analysis or proposal. Upon reviewing the new contractors analysis, It is also apparent that the HVAC system proposed by Eagle Ridge was not adequate to meet the HVAC needs of the home. Eagle Ridge's system was undersized by 67% and would have never been able to keep up with the heating or cooling needs of the home.
Response from Eagle Ridge Contracting
"The member contacted our company Saturday 10/8/2011 and my father met him on the job site on Sunday 10/9/2011. He had explained that he had contacted 5 previous contractors to do the Geothermal HVAC system and was wanting to get the work done ASAP. On the first meeting, he offered payment upfront to take on his project which we rejected. He gave us a set of prints which we performed a heat loss on the following day to get an idea of what size system(s) was needed for his home. A heat loss calculation is done as part of our total contract on new home construction and is included in the contract. We explained that his current duct system was undersized and he expressed that he wanted to reuse as much of the existing ductwork as possible as not to pay any more than necessary. On Saturday, October 15th, the member met Jeff and brought a check for $2000.00 for us to start working on the duct system to see how much could be salvaged for a working system. We worked the following day to get an idea of what size system to see how much could be salvaged for a working system. We worked the following Monday and Tuesday sorting out what was on site. Wednesday, we started making revisions. He was present on Thursday, October 20th where our installer reviewed with him what was done the previous day. He informed our installer that the electricians would be done Monday and that he had the insulation scheduled for Wednesday October 26th. The ductwork would need to be finished prior to the insulation. The member was present on Friday, October 21st and went over the bathroom exhaust fan work with Jeff Abbe and asked if we would be working on Saturday. Jeff explained that he wanted to meet on Saturday to finalize a contract and he agreed, however was not available on Saturday. Both Jeff and myself met with him on Sunday October 23rd to go over pricing of the job which he felt was too high and requested a breakdown. We informed him that we would discontinue work until we came to an agreed contract amount. The breakdown was submitted the following day. On Wednesday, October 26th, we submitted a contract, (which totaled the same amount as previous). Also, we submitted and invoice for $ 4,500 to include work that had been performed as well additional draw of $2,000.00 towards the contract. All amounts were to be applied to the total Contract price. Between October 21st and 26th, we were approached by other contractors who had not been paid for work at his home. Prior to our final contract submittal on October 26th, we checked his credit with other contractors who had worked on this same property and found NOT ONE contractor had been paid in full. This made us hesitant to be involved with him and is why our payment terms were strict. One term was that he pay the loop installer for previous work of over $6000.00 before they would return to finish the job. He then started to make false statements about the events leading to this point and made demands for a refund and release waiver for “work” that had been performed. I denied his demands, but offered to submit the Heat Loss calculations and system design once this balance of $ 2,736.10 was paid in full. Hayley Abbe, Eagle Ridge Contracting"
