They are excellent. We pay $19.95 per month. We came back to them 3 or 4 years ago. Somehow I got switched before. I trust them. The techs are great. They are one of the few people who I called and couldn't come out they trouble shot over the phone and fixed the problem.

The men were very professional and very competent at their job. They removed the old units and installed the new ones with no issues. We are very happy with all the work completed.

They arrived right at 8 AM, and I had heat restored before 2 PM. They returned the next day right at 8 AM to complete the A/C portion.

The original install of a heat pump and air handler was in March of 2011. This review is in January of 2015 so not even four years has passed with the new units. After researching different companies, I chose Housh because of reputation, reviews and price. Soon after install, we noticed water at the air handler in our basement. It seems that a part was shipped to us broken and installed. I can?t blame them for this as they may not have known it was broken on original install.

In November of 2011, the heat pump was dimming the lights in the house and making a strange noise. After three visits with the techs not being able to recreate the problem, I was finally able to catch it on video and emailed it to Housh. They had never heard that noise from a heat pump before. They ended up blaming the problem on spiders residing in the outdoor panel and
replace the circuit board in the panel.

In January of 2012, we had them back out to fix the humidifier. I also let them know that our system goes into emergency heat way too often. The tech adjusted the defrost temperature, but still to this day it goes into emergency heat way too much. The tech also tapped a new water line to the humidifier.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving 2014. The unit wouldn?t heat except in auxiliary mode.  It seems that two DC relays were blown in the air handler. The tech blamed a power surge, but I assured him that none happened to my knowledge. The compressor in the heat pump was also broken and that was attributed to coincidence and unrelated to the relays or a mysterious power surge. I was billed approx. $900 as it was out of warranty. The problem was supposed to be fixed.

On Christmas Eve 2014 there was no heat when I came home from work. The air handler was making a weird noise when I shut off the thermostat. Tech was out to the house on Christmas day. The relays were blown again. Due to the holiday, they couldn?t be back out until the following Monday, which was fine since I had my in-laws in town staying with us and didn?t want a long period of not heat at all. The problem was that the unit would heat until I shut the breakers off. So we had a choice, keep heating through the night and wake up with it being 80 or higher in the house, or turn it off and let the house get into the 50?s. I chose 50?s and boy did I hear it from the family.

On Monday, the 29th, the tech identified the actual problem. On original install, they replaced the air handler and heat pump but left the existing electrical wiring from the old units! This caused all the problems (except for the emergency heat issues that I still have apparently). Why they would NOT replace that on install is beyond me. That meant I had to have yet another service call on January 2nd to replace the wire. A 20 minute job that took four years to do. I talked to the owners, both Andy and Mike about the situation. Andy refunded $450 of the bill from November and offered a free one-year service agreement. Being stuck, but completely unsatisfied with this proposal, I took it. It?s incredibly frustrating that Andy, the co-owner admitted that there has been way too many service calls, yet that?s the best he could do for our situation. I had hoped for and requested a full refund of the  $900 and a free long term (a couple of years) service agreement. What I really wanted is for the manufacturer?s rep to come out with the owners of Housh to see if my unit is a lemon. I didn?t get either and I didn?t think that any of it is an unreasonable request. A free long term service agreement in my opinion would make sense if they stood behind their equipment. It wouldn?t cost them much and it would have avoided the writing of this review.

Since November, there have been five (if I?m counting right) service calls to the house. I?ve been forced to miss work because of this and that doesn?t make anyone happy. I am not exactly excited to see my next electric bill.

The technicians have always been nice, and I have had many of them to the house in the past four years.
Response from HOUSH - The Home Energy Experts
"[member name removed], I’m glad to hear that our technicians have been courteous and prompt whenever you’ve had a problem with your HVAC system. My understanding is that the low voltage wiring was compromised recently as a result of physical damage or a power surge as opposed to the wiring being faulty at the time of installation. Had we not determined that the wiring was the issue we definitely would have gotten a manufacturer's representative involved to resolve the issue. Our records indicated that routine maintenance had not been performed on the equipment since 2012. As a result there were some charges associated with the repairs. I think the total amount we charged was reasonable considering we made a total of five service calls totaling over 15 hours of labor and the cost of associated parts and material involved to resolve the issue. We look forward to performing maintenance on your heat pump this Spring to make sure it is operating at optimum efficiency. Thank you for your business, Andy"

Two Housh technicians arrived at the house on time and put shoe covers on their shoes and went to the basement and powered down the old equipment and began removal of the old equipment. They cleaned as they went along when equipment was disconnected it went to the garage for disposal. They removed the suspended ceiling, in order to access the lines that were being replaced. By noon the old system was removed from the house. They stopped for lunch. When they returned, again the covers went on the shoes and they brought the new HVAC equipment to the basement. They went to work setting the new air handler and refitting the duct work to the new system. They installed the new filter system and the humidifier. While that was in progress, a technician installed the outdoor unit and replaced the electrical outlet and connected the wires to the unit. Then the two installers installed the new line set through the wall of the house and pulled it in place above the ceiling and connected both ends to the equipment. Then they connected a vacuum pump and pulled a negative pressure on the system and isolated it to check for air leaks. After the given time with no change in the gauges, they removed the pump and opened the out door unit charging the system with refrigerant. They went about connecting the equipment and cleaning the ducts. When the electrical connections were made in the basement, the tuning of the equipment began. At around 4:00 PM they tested the new system. All worked as expected and they gave me their card and instructed me to call them if anything was not clear to me. They would either explain it to me or come back and train me on the equipment further. No calls were needed. I did have a question which they answered and all was well. A few weeks later there was a problem with the thermostat over the holiday weekend. I called and talked to the business owner. He offered to come over and install a new one immediately, but I said. no, I just want you to come on Tuesday when the office is open. On Tuesday, the tech stopped by at 8:00 AM and installed a new unit and a control panel board too. The single issue we have is that we continue to have dust coming from the ducts. Over night dust settles on our furniture. They said we should not be bothered with the dust with the new electronic dust collector. That is where the A- comes into play!

They are awesome. They installed all of our HVAC appliances. They fixed noise problems as well. They are always ready to come and fix when they need to. The appliances they install are of high quality, so they need much repair. The personnel are very knowledgeable and professional.

I've used them since 1992. They're prompt because I've had weird things happen at odd times. One times on Thanksgiving my heater quit working and they came, but it turned out that I was out of propane. I pay them monthly to maintain my furnace on an annual basis and if anything blows up they come to fix it, so the price is cheaper than normal. The visit doesn't cost me anything because they do it as one of the services that I pay for. They come twice a year for check-ups. One time the blower was making a weird noise and I called them because I thought it was ready to explode or something. They came out and it turned out that a mouse had gotten into the blower. It was gross, but they cleaned it and I didn't see anything. They took care of it. They're very responsive and if you need some they'll come out even if you're calling at some weird time. If you call them in the middle of the night you're going to pay a higher fee, but if it's thirty below zero and you have no heat I'm willing to pay whatever. You can call at 5:00 in the morning or on the weekend and they'll come. I appreciate that and they are very nice about it regardless if you got them out of bed or not. I plan on using them as long as I live in this house and they are open for business.

Outstanding experience from original estimate to installation completion. All members of the Housh team were professional and treated my house as if it were their own. Attention to detail was great. Neat, clean and solid! They even caulked around the new intake/exhaust pipes that were installed.
