Rich Rhodes gave the original project cost estimate and did virtually all the skilled on-site work, with the exception of excellent painting by Perfection Painting (Bill Roth and Cheryl Sukosd).  He was the low bidder among a total of 3 bids, though not by much.  Early on there was some confusion about who was to deal with the suppliers and (painting) subcontractor, which led to some ill feeling in the beginning on both sides.  I felt that it was Rich's job as general contractor to more directly manage the acquisition of supplies and manage the activities of the painter, but he directly or indirectly laid a good deal of that on the customer (me!).   I dealt directly with Lowe's on the selection and acquisition of the new counter tops, with the vendor(s) of the shower stall glass door, with Hartville Hardware on much of the new plumbing fixtures, and with the painters (paint selection and scheduling of their work). 
Rich's tile work was excellent and he is very friendly and easy to work with.  My wife, however, had a major problem with his work methods, meaning he generated a lot of dust and dirt in the house, which by and large has been left to us to clean up. 
Bottom line: I would hire Rich again, no question about that, but I would try to get the responsibilities better defined and spell out how to avoid generating so much dirt and dust inside the house.
