The service was exactly what I was looking for. My dog came
home well trained. The go-home sessions helped me be ready to work with him and
the polishing classes make it all even better. I would highly recommend. My dog
loved Virginia and the other workers. When we went back for a class he was so
excited to see them ? it was obvious he was treated well when he was there.

Great experience, professional, my dog loves to be there!

First off, Virginia and her team are AMAZING! I cannot give enough stars or give enough thumbs up for how amazing they are. If Virginia and her team can turn our dog around, she truly can turn around ANY dog.
Here is our story - I need to start from the beginning with our dog so you can understand how phenomenal they truly are... This is a bit lengthy, but it shows the dedication Virginia and her team have to bring out the best in a dog.
My boyfriend and I have a 9 month old Shepherd/Boxer mix named Cooper, weighing in at about 75 pounds. At about 3 months old, Cooper began food aggression. From there he began aggression with his bones. At about 12 weeks old we began taking Cooper to another local trainer to have his basic command training done. He responded extremely well to the trainer and enjoyed it very much. He is very good at commands such as: sit, stay, down, paw, other paw, and roll over but he did it on 'his terms' and he still had a big problem with food/bone aggression and also knowing his boundaries.
Since then, we had taken him to two different trainers with no success on his aggression. The first of the two trainers that we saw worked with Cooper with on-leash training. This trainer insisted on using a prong collar and would tend to get very aggressive with his training with Cooper. Each session we would sit in the corner while the trainer worked with Cooper. By the fifth session, Cooper was literally trying to crawl and pry his way out of the trainer’s hands to get over to us. Within the first five minutes of being there, the trainer dropped Cooper’s leash, cursed and yelled and said he gives up and walked away. It was a very traumatizing experience for him and made his fearfulness and insecurity of strangers far worse than it had ever been. It was a horrible experience to say the least. We left the facility with such confusion and frustration. So many questions ran through our minds such as: How could this trainer act this way? Is our dog un-trainable? Will we have to get rid of him? We were so upset and disheartened by the whole scenario. To this day I feel guilty that we subjected him to such a traumatic experience. Deep down we knew that Cooper was a great dog, we just did not know how to handle him.
At the third try of taking Cooper to trainer he was planning to stay for 3 days and 2 nights. Within the first 30 minutes of being there the trainer called and stated Cooper was being very aggressive in his cage and would not let anyone come near him; consequently, the trainer would not board him and we had to take him home. This was our breaking point. We were at a point where we were ready to give up and throw in the towel. That's when we really started doing some research, and found our dog whisperer, Virginia :)
The morning Cooper was asked to leave the training facility due to his aggression I wanted to break down and cry with such an overwhelming feeling of defeat. Instead, I began researching up and down the internet to see what I could find. I went on Cesar Milan's website which provided local training facilities. I found the link to Unleashed Canine Obedience website and began reading reviews. Some of the scenarios looked similar to ours so I decided to give the place a call. That is the first time I spoke with Virginia and she listened attentively as I poured out Cooper's entire background of events. Virginia was completely honest with me from the get-go and said that she would love to meet Cooper and get a feel for his temperament. She must have sensed the desperation in my voice because she got us in for a consultation that evening! Within an hour of being there Virginia was able to analyze Cooper's demeanor and could really see his insecurities. Not only that, but she seemed to really watch his movements and his temperament. She accepted the challenge of our big boy and two weeks later he was at the facility; spending 10 days straight at the facility. Now to the happily ever after!!...
I cannot give enough 5 star reviews about Virginia and her team. They exceeded our expectations by 200%! They took our dog and gave him the confidence he needed to trust people again as well as teaching him his boundaries. Within the FIRST DAY of him being back home you could see how much happier and confident he was. Words cannot begin to describe the joy and gratitude we felt. Cooper no longer becomes aggressive with his food or his bones. Not only did they do a great job with Cooper, but Virginia taught us how to handle him properly and be better owners which has also made such a difference. He is much more trusting of us and is so much more well behaved than ever before. Cooper is able to sit/lay in a place command practically anywhere we ask him to without question. He has gained such a trust and companionship with us since the training and he now looks up to us for guidance and assurance. It is an amazing feeling!
On top of all of that, an added bonus is that we can now take Cooper to parks and on walks without a leash! Since the training, we have taken Cooper on trail hikes and (his personal favorite) going to the creek! We have taken Cooper to a nearby creek a few times now and you can just see the joy and happiness in him as he runs around chasing after thrown sticks and returning them to us on command. It is so nice to be able to provide that freedom yet stay close by and remain so well behaved at the same time. Not only does Cooper now trust us, but we trust him as well. Virginia has taught Cooper that behaving properly has its rewards and can provide much more freedom the more behaved he is.
The commitment Virginia and her team make to your dog is one for the books. We cannot be thankful enough that we found Virginia in our biggest time of need and came out with higher expectations than we ever thought imaginable. Without Virginia I believe we may have had to get rid of Cooper. But, with her help and guidance we now have a companion, best friend and family member that we can't get enough of. Unleashed Canine Obedience, THANK YOU so much for everything you have done! We are forever grateful!!

My boyfriend and I got our Great Dane puppy, Zeppelin, this past September. As he grew he became very hard to handle, he did not listen to us and pretty much thought he ran the house (which he kind of did). Our family went to Gatlinburg for Thanksgiving, I brought Zeppelin and he was out of control. My mom and grandma told me they were willing to pay for Zeppelin to get trained; this was my Christmas present and ended up being the best gift I have ever received. I contacted a couple of the local trainers and Virginia Simpson was the first to get back with me. My boyfriend and I met with her a couple days later to talk about what program she thought would be best for Zeppelin (5monthsold),I knew Unleashed Canine Obedience was the right choice after meeting with Virginia. We liked that she explained the methods she would be using to train our puppy. We could tell just by meeting her once that she truly loves animals and we knew we could trust her with our big baby boy. We ended up choosing the two week platinum training. We would drop Zeppelin off with her in the morning and he would be so excited to see her each day! She would work with him for a couple hours then would let him play with the other dogs at Camp Bow Wow which helped his socializing skills, then would work with him for a couple more hours. Virginia worked with Zeppelin at Camp Bow Wow and would also take him to the park to work with him. He was exhausted every evening we came to get him; I could really tell that he was learning all day long! At the end of the training Virginia met with us and went over everything he learned and worked with us until we were comfortable with the commands and how to use the E- collar. It was all new for us but Virginia was very patient with us. Zeppelin is a different dog after training with Virginia, we have control over him now and I believe he is a happier dog. We enjoy our time together so much more now. When we would have guests over in the past we would be extremely anxious worrying about keeping zeppelin from jumping on everyone. After training instead of jumping on people when they come over he now goes to his and quot;placeand quot; and lays there until told he can get up. No more jumping on the table or counter. We are able to go outside and have him off leash without fear of him running away from us because he comes when called. He now understands that he is not the leader of the pack, We are! We were having issues when we would walk him on a loose leash. He would do great until we would walk by another dog he would start to pull and jump trying to get to the other dog. Considering he is a very big boy he would usually get to the other dog. I called Virginia and told her what issues we were having and we set up a couple meetings where she worked with us on this until the problem was resolved. Virginia cares about her clients and does not forget about them once the two week training program is over. We still keep in contact and she also provides group polishing up classes for the dogs she has trained in the past. This is a great way to keep up with the training and to challenge the dogs with new and harder distractions. Zeppelin gets very excited whenever we go to see Virginia; he loves her and so do we!! I would recommend Unleashed Canine Obedience to anyone looking to train their dogs. It changed our lives!! Any dogs we get in the future will be getting trained by Virginia Simpson!!!!

I contacted Unleashed Canine Obedience and Virginia Simpson via the e-mail link I found on the company's website after reading through the site to see what kind of training they provided. Virginia responded to my message within a day and was able to set up a meeting that weekend to meet with my dog, Cooper, and I to evaluate what kind of training would work best for us and to discuss the program. Upon meeting with Virginia, she was very professional, friendly and informative regarding the training and she displayed a genuine love and excitement for the animals she works with and what she does. She was very patient with me and answered all my questions thoroughly and even demonstrated with Cooper exactly how she would begin to work with him. By the time our meeting was over, I knew I could trust Virginia and Unleashed with my puppy and he would come through the training and be much more manageable.
I chose a week long training program for Cooper in which he was trained in increments throughout the day and he was also able to be socialized and spend time playing with the other dogs in the doggy day camp that is in the same facility. The facility is set up with video cameras throughout the building and you can watch Virginia work with your dog from your home computer. Virginia also occasionally took pictures and posted them to Unleashed's facebook page. I found these things to be particularly fantastic because I missed my little guy while he was away learning and playing! Virginia displays a lot of patience with not only my dog, but all dogs she encountered. The dogs immediately start wagging their tails and smiling whenever they see her. Virginia worked with Cooper at the facility as well as took him to the local park to work with him under distraction and to teach him how to play (and be trained commands) while he was off leash. Every day, Cooper was beyond excited to enter the facility to begin his day of training! Every night when I picked him up, he was still beyond excited and happy, but was worn out and fell asleep as soon as he hopped into the car for the ride home.
When the week long training program with my dog was completed, I then received a few personal training sessions with my dog and Virginia so that I could be shown what he had been taught, how to use the collar,and how to reinforce what he knows. Virginia was extremely kind and patient while teaching me what I needed to be doing to help Cooper to continue to succeed with the training she had provided. She always remained professional, patient and informative, never making you feel silly for any errors you may have made along the way.
Now that the week long training and personal training sessions are completed, Virginia continues to provide support in training by offering weekly polishing classes and other training opportunities which are an excellent way to brush up on what you've forgotten, get tips on problem areas and even learn new things to train your dog. Additionally, your dog gets to practice what he knows in circumstances where there are new distractions, increased excitement levels and other pets around which is extremely beneficial if you take your dog everywhere you go like I do!
This is my first experience with having a professional assisting in the training of my pets and I am 100% completely satisfied and would highly recommend Virginia and Unleashed Canine Obedience to anyone and everyone who wants a well mannered dog. The work she does with the dogs is absolutely wonderful and is done with a love for your pet and a passion that you most likely will never find anywhere else. This was absolutely the best decision I have made for my dog and his training needs! Most importantly, Cooper is performing absolutely spectacularly with his training!

My husband and I adopted Brooks In late October 2012. He quickly took control of the house and really only listened when he felt like it. Neither of us had the patience or knowledge to develop him into the dog we wanted and knew he could be.
We began to get frustrated with him, as he did with us, so we decided to look into dog training. We wanted to make sure we picked the best trainer for our needs, so we did a lot of research and met with several trainers before deciding on Virginia and Unleashed Canine Obedience.
We wanted a trainer that would produce reliable results but also remember that Brooks was our pet and a part of our family. Virginia's program was the only one we found that embraced that. She teaches the dogs that behaving can be fun and that the more they behave, the more freedom they get. Her methods took Brooks from an unruly puppy who was distracted all the time and difficult to take anywhere, to one that we can now take just about anywhere off his leash.
Virginia is committed to her clients and we couldn't be happier with the results. Brooks loves his new found freedom and so do we!

The dogs are amazing. You still need to work with them but there is no way I would have invested the effort myself to get them where they are today. Prior to training my dogs jumped on people to greet, pulled at leash when walking, etc. the biggest problem was crating. I have a dog with separation anxietY who freeks at being put in crate. After training, I put two dogs in place instead. I have a small grouP do yoga in my home. Everyone comes in and the dogs behave. I put them on their 'Place' mats during yoga and they remain there for 1 1/2 hours. Once I saw free they appropriately greet everyone. People are amazed at the before and after. Friend also used Virginia and is equally pleased. Note that the owners still need to work with dogs to keep training up. I've done group gaining at pet stores, private training in home and Virginia. From now on, I will,only do Virginia with every new dog I own.

Virginia Simpson, owner of Unleashed Obedience, is a dog-training rock star! She did a phenomenal job with our 8 year old Black Lab. The dog had belonged to my husband's ex wife and he was completely obnoxious. He was 120 pounds of untrained, I run the show, disobedience. I certainly did not want this creature coming to my house. After his 12 days with Virginia, he was completely transformed, I mean a totally different dog! He was incredibly responsive to the commands and did just what we wanted him to. This is not to say that we humans did not also have to be trained. :) Virginia approached everything from the dog's perspective and taught us to understand the dog and his innate worldview. He joined our family and was a delight. Thanks, Virginia!!!

She is very good and has trained my dog well. She has different programs and she also explained every aspect of the training program. I have been satisfied with her service.
