The glass blocks are an upgrade from the old single pane windows in my window wells. During moderate to heavy rains, the grout seems to get wet and there is minor amounts of water that come in around the frame. During heavy rains (e.g. flash floods of 2016-08-15) water leaks in between the glass blocks where the silicon has not been uniformly applied (see water trickle in attached photos; two example of three of the six windows doing this). As you can see in the photo, the water spots reveal this is not the first time water has been on the inside of the window. Between minor cracks in the grout, the pervious nature of grout (see second photo and the dry light grey versus the dark wet grey), and leaks at the edges of the blocks, I would not try to finish my basement yet. On the plus side, the glass blocks did hold back standing water, where as the old single pane windows broke, necessitating the upgrade.
Description of Work: I have had Queen City Glass Block windows out on two separate occasions to install sets of three glass block windows. The first time was in July of 2013, and more recently, in 2015. Each time they measured and then prefabricated windows that they came back an installed. The prefabricated windows are basically glass blocks that have been "glued" together with what looks like silicon. The installation consists of placing these windows in the old window frames and mortaring them in place. When done, it looks nice.
