He is the most wonderful vet in the world. I am in there probably once a month. They are all good experiences, we are lucky to have him. I would recommend him to everyone. Price is very reasonable. You do have to wait for him but it is worth it. He spends as much time with his clients as he needs to, he tries hard. I will use him until he reitires. I have been with him since he started practicing, over 30 years ago. There is just no comparison. He is kind, gentle, brilliant, he's extremely knowledgeable. He takes care of exotic animals, he can walk into any situation and knows everything. It's just all in his head.

We had both a great and a terrible experience with Dr. Dahlhausen. After taking our rabbit to our regular vet who had very little expertise with rabbits and thought there was not much they could do with our rabbit, we got a second opinion from Dr. Dahlhausen. They were able to give him medicine that unclogged his stomach and gave us another year with our rabbit. They saved his life for a year. Flash forward a year and we have a cruise scheduled so we ask if we can drop our rabbit off to be cared for and give him more of the medicine to make sure his stomach is not clogged. They mention that Dr. Dahlhausen is on vacation but they can still watch our rabbit. When we call while on the cruise, they forgot that our rabbit was even in their care. When we picked him up, he had basically been starved, wasn't eating, and we had to take him to a third vet to get pumped full of liquids and checked out. The third vet called it neglect. He died a week later. We have little doubt that they contributed to our rabbits death. People make mistakes...but this was beyond a mistake. May God forgive them.

Great. My umbrella cockatoo gets these from home every 3 months for a prolapse issue she has.

Called, got appt for the next day. Drive was far for us but as we had no success with treatment from another provider and we were worried about the turtle's prognosis, it was worth it.
I was a little concerned at first upon arriving as the staff did not seem to know what to do with a turtle...but after some guidance they took him in without hesitation. I left him there; they called later in the day and said the Dr. wanted to keep him overnight for observation. The next afternoon the office called and said he was ready to be picked up and they had meds for him. They gave me preloaded syringes for injection and coaching on how to give them. As this was the turtles second round of antibiotics I was again concerned--but the treatment worked and he has been healthy ever since! Please note, the estimated cost of the service is just that--estimated. It may have been less than that. I recall thinking it was reasonable for exam, diagnosis and meds.
The staff was very professional and followed up with a phone call later that week to check on the turtle. I would take the turtle back to Dr. Dahlhausen in a heartbeat.

The quality of Dr. Dahlhausen's work is very good. He is a specialist for birds. Our nonprofit organization cannot function without doctors like him. He is very generous in spending his time for our organization.

He is very professional. He is very good at what he does. He has a huge following. He is difficult to get into see. He is not real personable, but he is good at what he does. The office is not very inviting. The secretary is nice, but not real personable. He's a specialist.

Each visit to Dr. Dahlhausen will be different, of course, but the manner of the visit will be the same. Vickie, the office manager, is courteous and pleasant, and very caring about the animals. The other staff members are also very nice to deal with. When you enter the office, you will be greeted by Vickie, who will let the technician know you are there. When the exam room is available, the technician will show you in and will write down the necessary information about the animal's problem for Dr. Bob to review. When he enters, he will ask about the history of the animal's problem, examine the animal and make a diagnosis. He listens carefully to your description of the problem and takes all things into consideration. He will then prescribe the proper treatment and dispense any necessary medication. Diagnosis, treatment, tests and after-care are always thoroughly explained. When the visit is completed, you'll return to the waiting room where you will pay the bill. Payment is expected at that time.
The visits are always pleasant and rewarding; you will learn a great deal about your pet and its treatment each time you go. He generously shares his knowledge with his clients. He is sincerely grateful to them for caring for their pets and bringing them in when they are ill. He is humble and kind, and it shows in his demeanor and treatment of the birds. Dr. Bob only sees birds and other exotic species. He is not a dog and cat veterinarian.
DO'S and DON'TS: Be on time. Be courteous to the staff and the doctor. If an animal dies, don't be angry with them. Most of the time it was unavoidable. Pay your bills then and there. He provided the service when you needed it; don't make him wait for payment. Unless you are very knowledgable about veterinary medicine, don't second-guess him. He knows what he's doing. Don't be critical. He does the best he can and that is fantastic. He is an internationally known and respected avian and exotic vet and researcher who has lectured all over the world; give him the respect he deserves. He will show you that same respect.

He is really important. He is the one pioneers and avian researcher worldwide and he is a unique person. He gives a lot of his self to lot of corporate and help lot of local organization with dedicating time and resources for helping animals that specifically of the bird, especially rafters like eagles, hawks that need helps preserving them further. He again rescues the organization and he helps them. He does other things, he help all animals over the world. He is the only person I have lot of respect. He contributes and his research was published live; he contributed worldwide and for whatever reason he chose to make it to come here, I'm very grateful. I have carried a bird for most of my life and I didn't know whole time but ever since few years; I have been taking my bird to him. It's hard because birds are so fragile and taking them to regular dog cat veterinarian hospital or center can be like death sentence. We have to be trained as they are very different and unique. It's really wow to have someone like a worldwide expert. I'm really grateful. He has helped quite a few people and saved lot of birds. He is not always punctual but he spends a lot of time when we go there in his office.
