I got the part I needed, but it seemed over-priced. I was not impressed with the shop or with the people there.

My15 year old Bissell Proheat carpet cleaner had been acting quirky for years. Sometimes it worked ok. Sometimes it wouldn't rinse. I only used it for occasional pet messes and kid spills so I put off getting it repaired until it finally got so bad I couldn't use it anymore. First, I took it to Kirkwood Sweeper repair because they had done a great job repairing a 35 year old Hoover vaccuum. At first Kirkwood cleaned it completely and told me there was nothing wrong with it. But when I tried to use it, it just dumped out all of the soap in a puddle. So I took it back to Kirkwood a second time, and they saw that it didn't work, but they told me they couldn't get parts for it. They gave me a full refund for cleaning it. I took it home and priced new carpet cleaners. They were pretty expensive so I decided to try again to get it repaired. I logged on to the Bissell website and found that the only place within driving distance that was authorized by Bissell as a repair shop was Allen's in Milford. I called Allen's and they said that they could get parts for it and, in fact, repair Bissell Proheats all the time. So I took it in. The shop is in downtown Milford on the main street among the antique stores and cafes in the quaint little town. I enjoyed the location and it was easy to find, but one should be aware that the only place to park is on the street. I was told it would take about a week. When I picked it up, Jerry, the repair guy, told me all about the Bissell and it's quirks. He told me what had caused the problem and what I could do to prevent it from happening again. I was so grateful that he took the time to help me out that way. I took the Bissell home and noticed that the soap dispenser didn't seat correctly so I took it back to Allens and they corrected the issue right away for no additional charge. My Bissell works now as well as it did when it was new and I have avoided the cost of buying a new carpet cleaner. That was worth the trip to Milford! Over all, I was more than satisfied with Allen's Vacuum Cleaner and Appliance and I would recommend them to others.The shop is old fashioned and fits in well among the other Milford shops. Next time I go I plan to leave myself time to enjoy the other shops in the charming district.

the chief problem was that they had difficulty finding my vacuum two weeks after i brought in in for servicing. the key reason seems to be a pen and paper tracking system that requires the employees to search thru all the vacuums being repaired in order to find a customers vacuum.

I thought the price was high vs. other companies and the only cord they had available was an ugly bright orange cord.
