Brad, owner, proposed to remove wallpaper from the Living Room & Dining Room, paint walls, ceilings, chair rails & crown molding for $2,589 all materials included. He said it would take 2 days, possibly 3 days. We agreed to start on October 29, 2025 with Thomas. Thomas showed up at my door at 10:00 am with no equipment or materials to. start the wallpaper removal. Brad, the owner, came later with the materials & equipment. Floor was covered with plastic, but furniture was not covered in plastic. From. 10:00 am. to. 2:00 pm, Thomas would. work 15-20 minutes and. then step outside for 15-20 minutes multiple. times during that 4 hour time period. He worked consistently from 2:00 pm to 4:45 pm. Only one wall had most of the wallpaper removed. on Day #1. The next morning I called Brad to describe the slow progress and multiple long breaks Thomas took. Brad text me at 8:54 am saying he took Thomas off the job and Ruben will be coming out 10-11 am to pick up where Thomas left off. Ruben arrived at 1:15 pm and left to go to Sherwin Williams to get the wallpaper remover. Ruben started working on removing wallpaper about 2:00 pm until 6:30 pm.Ruben did not cover the floor or furniture. I walked in to see that the wallpaper remover bottle, a water bottle, and his wet clothing was sitting on my 1949 antique dining room table without a protective finish. Some of the wallpaper remover had spilled on the table and one of the chests. When I tried to wipe up the remover, it had already seeped into the wood, was sticky, and pulled the table finish off, so I stopped. I called Brad, the owner, and described what had happened and asked him to please bring plastic to cover my floors and furniture, before more damage was done. Brad said he would drop some off after his last appointment. Only 2/3 of the wallpaper had been removed at the end of Day #2. Ruben said he would arrive at 8:30. am on Day #3. He showed up at 10:00 am. He worked until 12:00 pm, when he left for lunch. He didn't return until 2:10 pm. I text Brad about all my concerns. He called me to discuss. I asked him where Ruben was and why he was gone for 2 hours. Brad said he didn't know. He's never had any complaints about Ruben before. He said he understood my frustration with Thomas the first day, but that he is trying to get the job done for me. That's all he can do. He implied that I was complaining about every little thing (i.e., punctuality, respect for peoples time & property, quality work, reliable & consistent work). He said that he can get the job done or I can have them stop working. I was not happy with his response & called Angis Customer Service to share my concerns. Meanwhile, on Day #3, Ruben worked from 2:15 to 4:15 pm. 4 hours total. After he left, there was a strong chemical odor in my dining room. I noticed 2 white saturated rags under the plastic sheets on the floor. Upon further examination I discovered 2 areas where the chemical had been trapped under the plastic and the floor was wet. I removed all the plastic, threw it away in my garage garbage and washed the wet areas on the floor to remove the wallpaper remover. The plastic tarp was taped on the floor Thursday afternoon and it is now Friday evening. The toxic fumes were overpowering that night giving me a headache, so Saturday morning I removed the large pile of wet rags & tarps left by Ruben in the corner of my living room, the large bag of trash that he left, and all his equpiment. I examined the floor to discover that the moisture had already seeped into the seams and was cupping in several areas where the remover saturated rags had been lying. See photos. After sweeping up all the wallpaper scraps, I also discovered that 3 areas of the quarter round finish had been scraped off, and there's a nick on top of my chest. Ruben's neglect and carelessness has caused unnecessary damage and mental anguish, not to mention, that only 3/4 of the wallpaper in the dining room has been removed in 3 days. I honestly do not feel comfortable having Ruben or CinDay Painters continue working in my home. They do not respect my time or my personal property, are not punctual, and have produced overall poor quality workmanship. They have not even come close to finishing the job in 2-3 days.
