Josh Tirey Roofing

I had begun to notice some discoloration in my living room ceiling shortly after a big wind storm in April. A friend recommended Josh Tirey Roofing. I called them to come take a look. They were there the next day. After an inspection of the roof, wind damage was found along with other damage. Josh Tirey sat down with me and explained the damage thoroughly. While inspecting the roof, he found the chimney needed to be repaired also, as it was part of the problem. He drove me around to show some of the jobs he had completed as well as jobs other contractors had completed. In doing so he informed me of the difference in repairs to chimneys and roofs.

Josh Tirey wrote up a proposal. The bid was higher than I had expected but he quickly explained and justified his pricing while comparing his work to other contractors. One difference he shared was his preference to soldering all the flashing joints instead of caulking. This provides a more permanent solution with the chimney. He shared photos showing how he formed flashings so water would run down the gutters and not down the chimney and the installation of a ridge behind the chimney that prevents water buildup behind it. He paid attention to every small detail. I realized that Josh was going to provide the quality of service that I wanted for my home. I was so impressed I asked him to do the work.

I have to say they did everything they promised plus more. While in the attic wiring the new powered exhaust vents, Josh noticed that our bathrooms were being vented into the attic space instead of through the roof. He explained how this could lead to mold issues. He suggested the need for installing new exhaust vents. I was thankful for that observation.

Even the cleanup was done with precision. I was impressed that Josh didn't use an old dumpster to load the debris in but instead used dump trucks daily. I would not have been able to tell they had ever been there if I had not seen the work done myself. Nails and shingle scraps all picked up. They even replanted a bush that was in the way of a downspout. This was without being asked. I had no issues with this company. They promised, they delivered, and were extremely courteous and professional. The work was completed in a timely manner and all questions were answered promptly and courteously.

The outward appearance of my home has improved immensely. I will certainly recommend Josh Tirey because of the quality of his work and his work ethics. I was very satisfied!

I was in the market for some chimney repair and had been shopping pretty hard, I was also looking to get my roof done since the chimney repair was going to damage a lot of my roof being rebuilt. I had planned to do the gutters myself, but was asking each contractor for a quote just so I'd have it.

I received lots of quote, and Josh Tirey came in about 30% higher than some of the others but he was also the only and quot;full serviceand quot; contractor I had spoken to. Everyone else either did roofs or chimneys, not both. I asked Josh why he was so much more expensive because I like to give contractors a chance to explain their pricing, justify it, and make sure I'm comparing to bids and quot;apples to applesand quot; so to speak.

After listening to Josh explain why his bid was higher and actually going and looking at job's he did as well as jobs some of the other contractors did, I quickly saw that the extra money was for the quality of service Josh Tirey provided. A few examples include: soldering of all flashing joints for a permanent solution versus caulking which can wear out and needs maintained; a different type of crown on the chimney (called a reveal crown); forming flashings in such a way that water runs into gutters and not down chimney face; installing a ridge behind the chimney to prevent water buildup behind it, and many other small details.

When I asked other contractors about these types of things, they all agreed that they are good things and said they could do them (for more money). What bothered me about this was that they didn't ever mention these items themselves. It was as if they would prefer to just and quot;get the joband quot; and didn't care whether it was done the best it could be or not. Josh, on the other hand, didn't want to the job if he wasn't doing it the best.

In the end I went with Josh Tirey. Both his roofing and chimney crew were very professional and courteous. They brought dump trucks with them each day to the house and loaded their debris so that I didn't have an ugly dumpster sitting at my home all week. Everything was done with care and I honestly never found a single roofing nail on the ground after they left.

His roofing crew did leave a little bit of material and scrap at my house when they were done, but as soon as I mentioned it to Josh he brought his crew back out to retrieve them and apologized for the oversight.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the jobs Josh Tirey completed for me and would definitely recommend him.

Josh actually stopped by our house when he noticed plastic on our roof. We had already received 3 estimates for repairs and were ready to make a decision. However, we invited Josh to share his opinion as well. He was extremely thorough and what impressed us most was the fact that he explained how and why he would proceed with the project. He was up front with the fact that he would not cut corners just to save money; as he takes pride in providing quality materials and workmanship that lasts. The cost was a bit more than our other estimates; however, we feel we got a top notch job and made a friend as well. His men were polite, hardworking, and prompt. Josh came behind them to inspect the work and he did much of the work himself. We would highly recommend Josh for any exterior jobs!

Came out. Gave me an estimate. I paid 1/2 down.I cancelled job the next day. He told me he would be out to refund my money at 9am that morning. He never showed. He cashed my check. never answered when I called. Would always call me back.I did not call him back when he did not show to return my check. I called my bank. Never performed any work and kept my over $600. I am glad my bank was able to recover my money. I will NEVER pay in advance again. After 60 years the first time a contractor has out and out lied to me about returning my money.
UPDATE: Mr Tirey has just left my home 10/3/14. He was very polite and was willing to do whatever he could to resolve the issue that happened over a year ago. He also expressed concern that he thought my review said I never received my money. I assured him that my bank had informed me that they had retrieve my money from him and I was in receipt of it. I appreciate the fact he has taken the time to apologize for the issue and make it right.

Although I had been given a decent estimate for a re-roof, I found another company to do the job. We had an appointment set up for a certain day to do the estimate, but I found that the appointment was broken by the contractor (however I was given the courtesy call to reschedule, which was nice). I ended up using another contractor because of price and what fit my needs.

From the start, Josh was most responsive and diligent about our home needs. I had a couple of other roofing contractors finally send me their bid when Josh was nearly finished with the job. If not for some snow and rain days Josh would have had the entire roof and siding taken off and replaced in about 8 days. I am very pleased with the work he and his crew did. I would not hesitate to use them again.
