Handy sent one of the owners out, he measured, said they would have to be special ordered, but we would have them in a month or so. Gave the 50% & the order went in. About five weeks later we received a call that the rails were in & ready to be installed. Set a date & Greg Meckstroth arrived with the rails. He is the other owner, family business. Great installer, it went extremely well, with everything just a little different. Greg was so good he took his time & made everything fit perfectly.

I have used Handy Windows shades first, for window shades and second for window treatments. These people are awesome. Anita was my designer and I couldn't be happier with the quality and the professionalism of these folks. I've had a couple of minor problems and they were right here promptly to correct the issues. Highly recommend. In fact, just phoned for shades for another room. I thought I would only use the shades in the cold winter but they were awesome at keeping AC bills down in the summer. Just got the "most efficient" house in the neighborhood from Duke...Shades and extra installation were the key factors....

It was great.  They are very professional and courteous.  The price was reasonable for the services and goods received.  They quoted the items and then installed them.  We are very happy with the outcome.

They did a great job!  I would definitely use them again.  Their workmanship is amazing and they're also good with follow-up.  Their decorator, Anita, was wonderful to work with and was very helpful!  If you need work like this done, they're the people to call.

They are great.

A battery powered widow shade does not work any longer. When it could not be repaired in my home, they took it and returned to factory for repair. Cost should be around $165.00 for the repair method I chose. Handy Window Shade called me to let me know cost of repair and my options for method of repair.

Previously, I had another window shade where the stringing of it broke and they sent it back to the factory. It was shipped to my home in about two weeks at no cost. Since it was a tiny shade I took it out and took it to Miami Township location. There was no charge. If I had them come and pick up the shade and then return it and hang it they would have billed me $50.

They are professional, conscientious and they do a good job. It might take a little bit of time to schedule you in but it is worth the wait.

These guys have been doing this a long time, and it shows.  They are very honest and thorough.  They spend as much time as the customer likes on blind selection, and installation is very quick.  I used them in 1990 and again recently.  Highly recommend them.

They'll spend as much or as little time as you want when selecting blinds. My impression is that in general blinds from all companies are of lower quality than they were years ago.  That's a function of the industry, and Handy stands behind their work.  HWS blinds are definitely better-quality than those from another company we used a few years ago.  The installers were on schedule and got all the blinds in despite some tricky windows to reach.

I have explained everything in great detail in the above box. As I said it was a wonderful
experience and the don't is, don't buy your window shades and blinds at a home
improvement store. They send out contract workers and some of them don't have a clue
how to install shades if the window is a design they have never seen. I have other window
shades I bought from Lowes and I can't take them down to clean because I can't get them back
into the bracket they are installed in.

Many years ago, I had purchased matching curtains, sheers and roman shades for my bedroom - they were beautiful!  The soot from a fire in my home ruined the roman shades to the point that even the drycleaner couldn't restore.  After searching many window treatment companies, I found one that came in "Handy"!  Anita came to my home and zeroed in on just what was needed - she knew her fabrics, and went right to the one that was so close you could hardly tell a difference.  She had several sample shades on hand for me to look at and test.  Anita is very knowledgeable and kind, with a gentle demeanor.  She is the only salesperson who has sent me a hand-written thank-you card.  The installer was also very good, on-time, and quick!  Handy will get my return business!

Greg Meckstroth came to my home on 10/26/10. He was not friendly and he was not helpful. I should have gone with another company. Nevertheless, I went with Handy Window Shades because they had a good rating on Angie's List. I told Mr. Meckstroth that I wanted pleated shades for my arch windows and I wanted them to match the blinds beneath them. The blinds were white with 1" slats. The shades that were installed on 11/26/10 were off-white with tiny 3/8" pleats. They did not match in color or width. I called Mr. Meckstroth the same day that they were installed but he did not call me back until 12/16/10. He told me he could do nothing about the shades because it was not his fault, but perhaps he could have them re-done at cost. On 12/21/10, he came to my home and agreed that they were the wrong color and size, but maybe he could have them re-made for $80. He said he would get back to me on that, but he never did. I finally reached him by phone on 1/11/11 and he told me the "at cost" would be another $166! Ralph Meckstroth tried to install the replacement shades on 2/17/11 but they did not fit -- wrong size. He returned on 3/8/11 and installed the shades. It took over 4 months and much frustration to get 2 little shades installed! I can not recommend this contractor to anyone.

It went well. I did point out a valance had looked defective and they are ordering a new one for me and said it would take about 2 weeks to come in.

The drapes were a swag type of drape and it was for five windows. It only took two weeks to have them finished and hung. They do excellent work and are very efficient.

They have good customer service. They come on time when they say they are going to. I do think that the prices they charge are fair. The quality of the work is good.

Fantastic, quick, easy expert installation- friendly and clean! They gave me bids first so I could choose the kind of shades I wanted. They have an enormous variety of shades to choose from and the prices were competitive with the internet!!! I also like that they have been in business a long time.

The product and the service was great! They did an excellent job.

Friendly and efficient service. Were wiling to come up with creative, inexpensive solutions for our window problems. We now have a beautiful family room that is usable during daytime hours and has a more ''natural'' light. Took about 4 weeks from estimate to finish, just like they said it would. Handy Window shade's office staff was extremely friendly on the phone. Would hire again.

GREG MECKSTROTH, SALESMAN, WAS VERY POLITE AND ON TIME. WORKMEN WHO INSTALL WERE VERY GOOD AND POLITE. SHADE IN MASTER BEDROOM HAS TO BE REPLACED, SHOULD BE DONE IN 3-4 WEEKS. WILL ADVISE ANGIE'S LIST IF NOT DONE.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY GOOD. AFTER THE INITIAL ORDER WAS PLACED, IT WAS NO MORE THAN THREE WEEKS BEFORE JOB WAS COMPLETED. ONLY PROBLEM WAS ONE VANE WAS MISSING, AND AFTER A CALL, THIS WAS CORRECTED. ON ONE OCCASION, MONTHS LATER, THERE WAS A STICKING PART, AND THEY WERE PROMPT TO STOP BY AND FIX IT WITH NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.

GREG MECKSTROTH WAS EXCELLENT IN ARRIVING ON TIME, DELIVERING COLOR SAMPLES, AND UNDERSTANDING WHAT I WANTED. WHEN THERE WAS A GLITCH WITH THE NECESSARY HARDWARE, THE OFFICE HELP WERE NOT HELPFUL IN ASSURING ME THAT THE WORK WOULD BE COMPLETED ON TIME. INSTALLERS ARRIVED AT 3:15, BUT I WAS FIRST TOLD THEY WOULD BE HERE AFTER NOON, AND THEN AFTER 2:00. NOT AFTER 3:00. INSTALLATION WAS WELL DONE, BUT I AM NOT PLEASED WITH THE CAVALIER WAY I WAS TREATED.

VERY PROMPT AND COURTEOUS. OFFERED VERY HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS. HAVING THEM COME TO THE HOUSE WITH SAMPLES WAS VERY CONVENIENT.
