Greg to clear up any misunderstandings, per our phone
conversation this morning here is a timeline of events of Wednesday July 28,
2004.
R. Campbells , employee/roofer,/independent contractor ( I?m
not sure of what the business relation
is) ? Jay? called me at 8:00 A.M. stating her was finishing up and
wanted to collect the payment for the roofing
job, I had contracted with your
company .
I called you and the company office to, again, verify that
he was authorized to collect the payment. You assured me he was.
Other than some minor flaws, he in fact did complete the
re-roof part of the contract after 10 days.
I issued payment to
?Jay? and he left at about 10:00 A.M. , assuring me that he would send someone
back to clean up debris and clean gutters.
When I returned home at 4:30 P.M the debris was still in the drive way.
I called ?Jay?s cell phone number twice , it was not in the
active mode, and left a message that I
was hauling away everything that was left at my residence.
I removed everything
that was left from the job, except two bundles of shingles, and disposed of it.
This included tarps, coolers, air compressor, and the general debris that was
left in my driveway.
As I was cleaning up I notice that my 20 ft extension
ladders were missing. Jay used
these ladders Tuesday and Wednesday, evidently he didn?t have any to use
after Sunday, when he removed ?his? from the job.
I checked around the house, but they were not on my
property.
I called and left a message on your cell phone, to get an
explanation of this situation.
Jay came to my house
,with his associate, about 6:30 P.M., and stated her took the
ladders and would bring them back. He
returned, with his truck , about twenty minutes later, and picked-up the two
bundles of shingles, but did not return the ladders.
When I contacted you this morning, it was explained that he
( Jay) sent someone back to clean up , and this person thought the ladders
belonged to ?Jay?. To he took them by mistake.
My question is, thecleanup person came to my house to clean-up, why wasn?t the debris, coolers,
excess material, and air compressor
removed? Nothing was ?cleaned-up?.
Only the ladders were taken.
And when ?Jay? came back Wednesday evening with his truck,
to collect the two bundles of shingles, it wasn?t a priority to bring back the
ladders that he admitted he had taken?
I could put up with the hauling away debris, the oil spots
on the driveway, a blocked driveway for 5 days, water leaks from vents during the job, cleaning the
debris from the spouting, and even 10 days to complete this small job, but
removing my personal property, was the last straw.
I believe I fulfilled my part of the contract, with the
check I issued to R Campbell Roofing , on July 28, 2004.
I think it only fair to provide you , or Richard Campbell
, with an opportunity to respond before
I file a complaint. Let me know if you have any resolution to this situation.
I contracted with your company, to get a professional job,
but this has developed into the worst experience I have had with a contractor.
R. Campbell did contact tme about two weeks later, after I filed a complaint with the BBB. Refunded $250.00, of the $3400 job, for not cleaning up.
