Description of Work: ****BEWARE OF PPLS CONSTRUCTION**** *** "CONTRACTORS" BRANDON J. BIRD AND JAKE C. COOPER *** I hired PPLS CONSTRUCTION; Brandon and Jake in August, 2017 to complete a basement remodel at my home located in West Chester, OH. Jake and Brandon quoted the job to take approx. a months time. During which I repeatedly asked for a copy of their insurance as a precaution, in which they agreed to produce but never did. Approx. 3.5 weeks into the remodel the basement was still at the beginning stages. During weeks 1 and 2 Brandon and Jake would show up to work Monday-Friday (for the most part) and work a full day (approx. 6 hours). During the last week and a half Brandon was the only one showing up to work the job and would work only a few hours each time. (Brandon told me that Jake fell on another job and hurt his back). Despite my concerns, Brandon and Jake assured me that the job would be completed within 7-10 days from the date they originally promised. Taking them at their word I made the mistake of paying the remaining half balance for labor prior to the jobs completion. BIG MISTAKE. The second they received their money they abandoned the job and left the site in shambles. After dozens of un-returned texts and voicemail's I realized I was being radio silenced by both Brandon and Jake and I was forced to hire a third party to come in and finish the job. The new contractors got to work by removing drywall to correct the layout and noticed the walls were stuffed with garbage (wood, drywall, cups, food wrappers etc...). Not only were the walls stuffed with the trash they were too lazy to bring upstairs and dispose of correctly they had twice the materials needed. Brandon and Jake were so careless in purchasing materials because it was on my line of credit. The guys had not even began the plumbing work they were hired to do and the electrical work done by them as explained by the new contractors would have eventually caused a fire and burned down the house. For example; they not only incorrectly spliced wires throughout the entire basement but they used plumbing tape to connect them without any sort of grounding. Trash covered the floors the entire length of the basement and everything they had done needed to be re done costing me double. If Brandon and Jake had not abandoned the job, which I truly believe they would have either way because they were not equipped with the knowledge to complete what they'd agreed to do I could have very seriously lost everything in a house fire. I am now working with my attorneys to take Brandon and Jake and their company to court. PLEASE call me before hiring these men to perform any work.
